Yes, a deer was in our backyard under the crabapple tree. This was yesterday morning. DB was up at 4:30 a.m. and I was still snoozing. He said he pulled the curtains up on the patio door and Chase was barking and growling loud and sounded fierce, and the other two were standing by the door with their hackles standing straight up from the neck to the rum and the chorus of barking began. DBs looked out the door, turned the outside lights on and there the deer was, staring at them. I told him he should have taken a picture of it (camera sitting right by the dining table)! :) *DBs gave me the “roll the eye balls” look.*
As soon as DBs let the boys out and he followed along, the deer leaped over our fence and away he went. He said it could be a buck, not a doe. But anyhow, the deer must be eating what’s left of the crabapples on the ground and tree.
I’m sure our neighbors were very happy with us with the boys barking at 4:30 in the crack of dawn. I have see a deer up close and personal while out on my walks. Honestly I’m not afraid but I’m more afraid the boys will charge for the deer and pull me along. The many times I saw a deer with the boys with me, the command STOP worked good. *Touch wood* The boys really stop dead on their tracks but the growling continues and the hackles stays up till the deer disappears.

Wah a deer. Too bad no photo. Yours boys are so ‘kwai’.
I told hubs to take a pic the next time so I can put it up on the blog, he shook his head. Guess he is not very coorperative when it comes to wild animals. The boys “kwai” only when I have to say the command in a stern tone and pull on their leashes. If not, they don’t care less with me around.

Hi Dawn, glad it was a deer, not a bear. Your house near woods?
One day I was fishing at a lake and sitting quietly when noticed a couple of young deer close by. They look so cute too.
And couple of years ago when camping up North for the first time heard wolves howling…the ladies in our camp sure got nervous, it was around 11pm too….of course I told them to be careful, the wolves howling because hungry and might drag one of them out for dinner. Arhaaaa ha ha…and they believed me too.
Should see them yawning next morning, as hardly slept, ha ha. Lee.
Hi Uncle Lee: Yes our neighborhood is surrounded by woods. Deer season is around the corner, the deers are all over the place. Saw them in neighbors’ yards before munching on hostas, on the plum tree. I rather see a deer then a coyote. They are in the woods I know coz we heard them howl a few times.
