Medical gadgets

By | August 18, 2007

There are a lot of stuff I have not heard of in the medical field up until DB was hospitalized.  One of the things that the nurses hooked him up was a pulse oximeter.  What it does is it measures the amount of oxygen in his blood.  The funny thing was he kept pulling it out and the measurements were wrong and the beeper would go off.  After they wheeled him to the ICU, they thought with constant hawk view of the nurses, he would not pull it off, but nope, he did.  After the third time, the nurse clipped in on his right big toe.  It was hilarious seeing his foot covered with the blanket except for his big toe.  Oh well, I can laugh about it now but back then, I was worried sick.

I know the feeling. When my son was born they had so much hooked up to him, and to this day I still have no idea as to what half of it was.

Jess, I had to ask the nurses what were the bags of IV and all the other tubes that was hooked to him. I always thought whatever were hooked up to the patient, nurses would let the love ones know. Guess not!!!

AN, medical technology is so advance, I don’t know how my MIL keeps up with that.

DB has been dry for 3 years now. Coffee, “scream” (ice-cream), and doing things that are challenged him keeps him occupied. So much more produtive.
