Trip Countdown

The countdown has sorta begun.  I bought my tickets for Minneapolis to Singapore segment last night.  Northwest Airlines has a Cash and Miles promotion for roundtrip fares within North America, to Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Pacific.  I paid $781 plus 20,000 miles for this segment.

I had wanted to leave Msp on November 17 and return on December 8 but no such luck with this promotion.  Changed my dates and am leaving a day earlier (November 16) and arriving Singapore on November 18.  From Singapore, I will have to look for a ticket to Kuala Lumpur.  So far, I found flights leaving Singapore at 6:45 a.m. arriving KUL at 7:45 a.m.  That would leave me plenty of time to hunt down transportation to Ipoh.  I have not bought my KUL/SIN/KUL tickets yet.  I’m still trying to hunt down the cheapest fares but I think the cheapest I can find online is around $298+ through Expedia.com, or $278+ through Malaysia Airlines online.  The funny thing about MAS online is the fares are in Singapore dollars.  Before I converted to SGD, it’s $420+.  I might go with MAS online.

From KL, I will most probably take the shuttle bus to Ipoh.  Sounds like a super long day already!!

On my return flights, I will have to leave Ipoh in the afternoon on December 8 to KL.  Flight leaves KL to Singapore (December 8) at 10:45 p.m. arriving at 11:40 p.m.  The flight from Singapore to Minneapolis by Northwest leaves at 6:00 a.m. on December 9.  I wish there are other flights besides this one 6:00 a.m. flight.  Checked United Airlines, the same thing.

So, you might asked what about DB??  DB is still working on the days he wants to be gone from work.  He is so complicated.  I told him to come on the 2nd week of my stay and if he can, stay for the rest of the 2 weeks, if not a week plus.  He still couldn’t decide!  Oh well, you snooze, you loose!

Hi Dawn, wow! You balek kampong? Good for you. You sure going to have quite a time reading your travel plans. But hey, its a holiday, just enjoy.
We have not balek kampong last was in 2002. Hopefully maybe next year.
You know, I always read about Airlines not having enough passengers, some going bust, and yet time comes to book a flight we get ‘flights fully booked’ or whatever. Oh well…
Well, there’s still lots of days to have coffee with you before you go.
    Take care, Dawn, UL.

Uncle Lee, Yeah the last I was in Malaysia was 2002. Heard there are a lot changed in KL and Ipoh. I remember when I left Malaysia in 1997, the Twin Towers were not even up yet, just the base. My friends told me KL is a must for my next visit. I will have to spend a few nights in KL and go ronda ronda, paint the city red when I’m there!

The flight for MSP/SIN/MSP is still very empty. I’m glad there is this promotion, if not the ticket would be $1600 excluding the KL segment. Every thing is increasing except for my salary!!! :) You have a good one too, Uncle Lee!

You are going to have a long day. But going to be so worth it when you get to taste all of those foods and hug your parents. :)

Jet lagged and ordinary, but the food comes, all of the grumpiness will disappear! :)

Nicole, I’m doing fine. Yeah, it’s been a week since we chatted. You got my number, you can always call me anytime. This Aiyah Nonya is one funny lady, ain’t she? She’s my sister. We give each other hell all the time. I think that will never change. And yes, we need to meet for lunch or dinner. Give us a buzz whenever you are available. Have a great weekend!
