Labor Day Weekend
Summer is over. The Minnesota Get-together (Minnesota State Fair) ended today on Labor Day. No work but I was slaving at home. Why?? Because I was lazing around yesterday doing nothing except I went for a morning walk/run and went to Cub Foods to pick up some groceries. Right after I got home, I sat on my butt, watch a movie (Mistress of Spices) which I didn’t finish, and slept for 3.5 hours, I think. I thought I would take a nap and do the weekly house chores when I get up from my slumber. Didn’t get up till 4:15 p.m. and by then, I felt more lethargic.
DB grilled some brats and I didn’t eat much coz I had a big bowl of “Kon Loh Meen” with left over curry, and slept! I frgot to take a picture of the noodles. Want to show my sister the packet of curry powder she sent, or is it my mom, was so good, I used them all. Anyways, before the brats were done, the movie “The Queen” was on and I was standing, swaying my hips left, right to move the noodles in gut so I don’t feel so sluggish. The movie was really good. The actress, Helen Mirren, who portrayed the Queen did an excellent job.
This morning, I busted my butt, got up earlier even though I was tired, went for my walk/run on the trails and almost eaten alive my the skeeters. Never used so much Mopiko in my life. Yeah, I still prefer Mopiko over After-Bite. After-Bite stings really bad when I apply on to the skin. I changed the sheets, vacumm, and cooked for the week. I cooked the recipes I copied from my sister’s years ago (2000) – Ceylon chicken and the other one is something chicken with red pepper.
This is the Ceylon chicken which I didn’t add the thick black soy sauce. So, I’m just waiting for her to criticize this picture! :D
Next is this something chicken with red pepper. The sauce consists of white vinegar, sesame oil (as you can see, I ODed on the sesame oil), sugar, soy sauce, dry sherry and H2O. I didn’t know I ran out of dry sherry, so, I used the bottle of white wine that has been sitting in the pantry for a year. DB has not touched it!! Big Yeah!! So proud of him.
These two will be our dinners for the rest of the week with rice and steam brocco and cauli. Friday is junk food night. Week’s all set and back to act-busy tomorrow.

Ok here is my coment.
The first dish looks – Yucks. !
Happy ! …… :)
Actually the black sauce is only for colouring. The taste comes from the rest of the spices you use. I am sure it taste good.
How come you did not ground your chillies. Just run them through the blender, scoop them out and place in the freezer for future use. Goes for the onions, garlic or any of the fresh spices. This is just an idea.
The next dish – what is oDed ???
It looks good any way.
Proud of you. Kon loh meen with curry somemore. Yummy.
Re sleeping with a full stomach will cause you to have a big belly.. Really, not joking here. Should be swaying with a full stomach first then nap.
But then slepping on a full stomach is shiok, man. Nothing beats that except for after certain bed activities. :) hahhaaa…
Knew you’re gonna say that. Ground the chillies….that’s the last thing I want to do unless I’m in the mood for it which is never.
ODed is over dosed. Yeah, hubby said it taste good. Oily is ok – it slides in and out better :D
KNow what you mean with that sleeping with full belly. I usually never do that, but that day was just an exceptional lazy day!

Hey dawn
Grounding the spices in advance do help when you want to cook spicy dishes. Give it a thought. Lazy bones
OKlah, will see if I’m in the mood or not. I need a housekeeper so I have more time to dink around in the kitchen!

Looks like you and DB will be eating good.
I spent the weekend working on my corporate income tax forms. Filed an extension, but I must mail them in by the 15th.
No wonder there were no updates on your blog! :)
