Yes, I am very thankful for my parents to emphasize English in our growing up years. At least we can speak, write and understand English, with an accent! I think my M'sian accent will not go away! :)

My grammar and spelling sucks big time although my mom corrects me when I'm back home or when ever I'm with her. I'm thankful that my hubs can spell and uses the right grammar so he does teach me all those. I'm also thankful that I was brought up in a English speak home so my English can be understood with the people here. YES I'm surprise some Americans cannot spell and like my hubs always told me some has worst grammar and spelling mistakes than me!

what do you expect, they are not British - don't speak the Queen's English.
my grammar sucks too. with singlish so rampant here my English is getting from bad to worst.
my boys would say Singlish is OK what. as long as I could understand them.
