PR card expiring

I received my PR card back in late 2000 and when I saw the expiration date of 02/20/2011, that’s a long ways to go…wonder if I need to renew it.

Well, few weeks ago, I thought of my green card, dug it out and saw the expiration date and did some Googling to check when and how to renew a green card.  I pulled up the information from the US Department of Homeland Security and the renewal info was there.  I was hoping I don’t need to renew it but I need to –  to cya kind of thing – cover your ass.

Read through the application and the final part on payment.  I have to cough out a whopping $370.  The fee for the application is $290 and and another $80 for biometrics.  KNN, I have already had my biometrics done 13 years ago and they need it again?  Well, I’m assuming they are using a new way for biometrics or whatever.

I’m going to complete the forms which i can print online, write out a check of $370.oo to the USDHS.  The instructions says I have to submit my renewal application 6 months or earlier before it expires due to USDHS backlog.  I will get them mail out probably this weekend or by next week….I’m a procrastinator, remember????

Every damn time I look at the I-90 forms (PR card renewal application) I’m just hopping mad!!  This stupid new immigration law for state of AZ which is in debate now the politicians are fighting about for the illegal immigrants who cross the border (Mexico to Arizona or Texas).  These illegals settled in the new country, gave birth to kids who are then automatically become US citizens (anchor babies) will be legal immigrants due to their children’s status ….something like that.  So those who came to the country legally and paid all the fees to get to stay, work and pay taxes will just sit tight and watch these damn illegal bastards get their PR status freely????  Damn, that is totally stupid, they should be frigging deported back to Ma-hi-co and come back with proper paperwork!

It is not fair and no matter how many times I have to tell the folks at my church how I feel, they still think these illegals should have the right to stay because they have kids to bring up.  The churchy folks say I need to feel the compassion for them.  Hah!  I will feel sorry for them to leave their kids behind while they are being locked up and scooted back to their country, but they asked for it. i feel sorry for their kids.  And then since they are now in this country working, get the immigration paperwork done properly, pay the fees like all immigrants do in this country and get your asses back to your children in a legal manner.  AZ, you go get her!

Wow, that is so expensive. I didn’t know renewal costs money. Mine expires in 2019. That is really a huge chunk of of money. Biometrics is now 80 bucks? Used to be 50 then it went up to 60. I might consider citizenship if the cost keep on going up plus have to keep track of our Msian passport too, with both price increase…whoah!!!!!!
Press 1 for English, Press 2 for Spanish, doesn’t this sounds so familiar? I agree with you about the illegal immigrants. What word in the definition of “ILLEGAL” that people don’t understand?? I am a very compassionate person but whenever I heard about deportation for illegals, there will always be some form of remark to defend them..”Have some heart!”. What!???? Unbelievable!!!
Jan Brewer can be my idol..hehe.

I really don’t know why I need biometrics again??? So INS think fingerprints will change in 10 years????? Yeah you are right, we need to make sure to keep tabs with our passports too, I forgot about that! :)

And yes, Jan Brewer, you go, girl. Bring it on and slam those damn illegals! I feel for their kids only but the illegal parents, they can very well go back and come back as a legal immigrant and don’t rely on their kids to give them free citizenship and also no amnesty either! That is totally free-ride!!!

Agree with what you say man! When I apply for my green card I had to go here go there and pay about 3k for it. I even went to North Dakota to get my biometrics as MN line was backed up! My hubs also always complain we need to do so much work and pay so much to be legal but then the illegal no need to pay anything. Don’t pay taxes and then can stay..is just not fair!

I’m going to get my biometrics done for today to apply for my citizenship. I don’t remember how much we had to pay for citizenship application. I think about 600-800. How come u don’t apply for the citizenship already?

Wow, all the way to ND for biometrics is really crazy. I remember 10 years ago hubs and I went to the INS office at Metro Drive in Bloomington and that’s where we got all the paperwork filed, interviewed and biometrics done too. SO much has changed since!!! I want to apply for citizenship but every time I look at the filing fees, it really throws me off. So expensive plus who knows, we might leave US for good one day! :)

We’re not sure if we want to stay in the States too but I figured I should apply for my Citizenship so that my parents can apply for their green card in case they want to stay here. I think I’m paying about $700 in total so far. I will still need to study for the test (urgghhh) so I don’t have to worry about anything yet. I’ll still keep my Malaysian citizenship though.

Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship, right? I was thinking of keeping my Malaysian citizenship if and when I get my US citizenship but I read on a forum that M’sia government is super strict about Msians keeping 2 nationalities and not giving up one or the other. After you sit for the test, let me know how it goes. :)
