Settling in
By Three Crazy Dogs | July 9, 2012
It’s been 3 plus weeks since Chase and I moved in with our host family. It’s a blessing and I am forever grateful for them for accepting Chase and I into their humble home.
Chase is settling in very well. In fact he is very protective with the house. He likes to lay on the top of the stairs looking out the door. Any one walking past the house, he will let out a soft bark….like a reminder for us. However, when someone is at the door, or the door bell rings, he will be barking the house down.
Yesterday M’s niece came over from Bismark, North Dakota, to board a flight to Chicago. Chase was barking at her and actually growling at her. I was not home. I was at my zumba class. M and K said Chase was not happy and didn’t stop growling till M had to be very stern with him and K had to muzzle him to quiet down. M made him lay down and he did right away. Chase definitely knows who the boss is in the house and that is good.
As for me, I am settling in, too. I don’t spend all my time at the pc anymore. Majority of the time I’m reading or outside with Chase. The couple loves spending time, sitting on the patio after dinner. I will be out there with Chase and his frisbee. He is loving the big yard, again, and every second we are outside, he will bring his frisbee over to me, or M.
Even though K and M are alright with me living with them temporary, occasionally i find it very “kam kai” (I don’t know how to say it in English). I’m in the basement and it is the family room with the TV and that’s where they spend their evenings watching TV and cooling off from the summer heat. And here I am, downstairs and every time I have to go shower, M and K will go upstairs. Damn, I told K to stay downstairs. It’s not that I will come out of the bathroom naked!!!
I know I cannot do that like in my own home.
She said M said it’s better to give me privacy. M is a very nice guy. But I told K she need to talk him into sitting downstairs and cool off before bed time. We are spending some time in the basement watching DVDs and doing our own bible study.
I still go over to the old house to pick up some stuff whenever I can find boxes and packing stuff away. There are still so much in the house. I fell so blardy overwhelmed and needless to say, DB too. I want to sell and give so many things away but that fella said no. Damn! Whatever that belongs to me, I’m selling or trashing them.
Oh I also met the neighbors at my temporary home which I might stay till after the winter (March 2013). We all went for an outdoor concert yesterday evening. It was good and I thoroughly had a good time.
