Bummer…

I was busy pounding on the keyboard and DB came in happily cracking jokes and trying to be a pain in my butt as usual.  Some may think we are a pair of weird couple, but that’s how we are.  We love to give each other hell but we love each other to bits.  At the end of the day, we are always kissing and hugging.  Anyway, back to what I want to write about.  He came in to my office, moved my crap of paper, magazines, books from the “visitor’s” chair, sat down and said he has something to talk to me about.  I thought he wanted to talk to me about the benefits enrollment.  I printed a copy of what I thought would be suitable for us for him to look at and told him to give me his answer tomorrow as it is the last day of open enrollment.

He said thanks and next he said, “Say, I got laid off today.  I was not fired, but laid off.”  My initial reaction, my eyes were wide opened, as wide as can be and my brains went on a wild spinned.  I asked him if he was joking, he said no.  Then he told me the whole story. 

That bastard case Mutusamy boss of his used DB’s performance and his dislike of his job as a factor to laid him off.  His boss had a 10-minute meeting with him last month asking him how he like his job and so forth.  His boss said he will speak to HR to see if they can help him get a different job.  Well, HR helped the boss to get rid of DB!!! 

DB is taking this laid off very well.  I’m so damn proud of him.  He said he is actually happy that he got laid off because he wanted to get out of that company.  He knew something was not right, but didn’t expect a lay off that soon.  He was expecting it after our vacation. 

So, sis, DO NOT TELL our folks yet till we are there.  I don’t want them to worry.  We are in better shape now than before.  DB told me not to worry as he has plans.  What plans, I can’t tell either!
