It’s Saturday and I didn’t feel like doing my final paper. The weather turned cool after DB and I came back from running our weekly errands. We even stop at ACE hardware store to get the usual stuff for spring – furnace filters, weed killers, outdoor pails, water hose reeler, and flash lights. Little stuff from the store costs $100….we haven’t bought the wheel barrow yet.

When we got home, I thought I should drive over to Cubs Garden Center to look at some patio and hanging basket plants. So, I spent my money on these plants….$80+

Gerbera plants. I bought four of them since they were 2 for $7 which I thought was a good buy.

This is what they look like after I transplanted them to different pots.

The two blue ceramic pots were my old pots for my dead lavender plants from last year and the other pot holder previously holds my mums plant. Obviously my green thumb was not working very well.

The two smaller plants are the dead lavender plants and the bigger one is the mum’s – all dried to the bone.

In addition to the gerberas, I bought pot of petunias with red flowers, white petunias and a pot of geranium.

Then I proceeded into the store to get a house plant since I killed one of them, the Peace Lily. I bought this plant, Schefflera Actinophylla which is also called “money plant”. Hopefully it will bring in good fortune to our household! :)

Schefflera actinophylla or the umbrella plant

And finally, here is the barrell of wild flowers I germinated 2 weeks ago. The empty spots, well, they were ate up by Coopster. For some reason, he loves to eat dirt, don’t ask me why. Labs are known to be garbage dog.

    Hi !
Nice flowers. Wish I can grow such beautiful flowers here.
Those Gerberas reminds me of the Daisys Mother use to have along the porch.

    Have a great day

I still need to fertilize my lawn. Er, I should have done that in March too.

AN – all these plants and flowers out reminds me of mother’s garden, plus I want to try my hands on gardening and see how many plants I will kill this year:)

SA – hey, there one more yard that needs fertilizing, too :)

    2CD , you are a MURDERED ! :0

That is what my son calls me when one of my plants die.

Yes, go ahead and buy more plants. The more you try the more you will learn. Soon you will get the hang of it.
In other words, I killed lots of plants too. :)

    Happy plants hunting.

Eh, sounds like you are going on a hunt just to kill them. hahaha

    Hi again,

One question – Why do you need to fertilize the lawn ? Don’t the grass just grow on it’s own after being dormant in the winter ?

Btw how is you plants hunting ?

I’m a murderer alright. I think I already killed my lavender plants. They look dead, that’s all I can say, but will see. I didn’t spend that much yet, but pretty soon I will.

I’m going plant hunting this weekend, get more lilies, hostas and whatever perennial the store have.

The reason why need we to fertilize the yard is because it will make grass grow thicker and no weeds. That’s what DB hates most are the weeds especially dandelions – pretty flowers but if we didn’t get them in control, they will be all over the yard.

How did your plants hunting go ?
How burnt is your pocket ? :0

    Btw dandelions very pretty, what.
Whole yard filled with it will be just like you are in the out doors. When you are sick of it just sent DB out with his toy and it will be all gone.
