Hello peeps

Comments Off

Hi peeps, I have totally abandoned my blog.  I have things to blog but I’m just not in the mood to get on with it.  If it’s not for the paid posts, I be shutting this blog down when the hosting expires in June, but I can’t.  So, here I am, trying to update this pathetic blog to make it look as if there is some life in it.

The home internet is dead.  The ComCast (our internet provider) tech won’t be here to fix it till Friday and we have no internet since Monday afternoon.   How much I rely on the internet is unspeakable.  It’s driving me nuts when I’m home.  Using the cellphone to access the web is not good of an idea.  It will probably rake up the minutes.

Hubs is still working his goofy 12-hour shift schedule which is working 2 days, off two; work 3 days, off three.  The boss wants him in since he is lead tech now for his shift to get in at 5 am.  His regular shift hours are 6 am – 6 pm.  It sure is nice if he can leave the place at 6, but nope, he has to wait for the operators to leave, shut the machines down and then leave for the day.  That is usually 6:45 pm if he is lucky, but most days is 7:15 pm.  Some days he really drags his ass into the house.  He does not get home till 8 pm on certain days depending on traffic.

The good news from him last week was his boss asked if he wants to work 2nd shift, Mon-Fri, 2:30 pm-11:00 pm.  Hell yeah he is going to grab that opportunity.  This shift might start some time in February.  Hopefully it’s soon coz the 14-hour shifts is taking a toll on him.

The boys now.  We took Cooper back to the vet for a followup check.  Those awwees are not getting any better.  I have to say, it did the first few days after the heavy duty antibiotic jabs and anti-depressants.  I think the anit-depressants did not work after that coz that fella was just not as “mellow” as compare to the initial period.  i still think the vet should have prescribed a heavier dose of anit-depressants for him.  Oh well, for now the vet did the same thing but the dosages are heavier.  The Elizabethan collar is not working either coz this fella found a way to go around it.

Next is Chase.  This fella is experiencing hip problems already, we think, at 1 year and 1.5 months old.  We already started him on glucosamine (Cosequin) and taking some of Ranger’s pain killers.  I have been taking the 3 boys to the dog park at Alimagnet every week, at least 4 times a week.  This hip problem started on Monday after we returned from the park.  That poor fella had his left hind leg hanging when he was walking,  drinking, and eating.  I didn’t walk him for 2 days, and he was damn hyper yesterday morning.  He found his stick and wanted to fetch which he did for a few times.  I saw he was just fine and dandy, no more limpy, back to himself.  So i took them for their walks to the trails.  He was off, really happy and I was happy to see him happy!  :)  The walk home was good, he was happy trying to lick Cooper’s ears the whole time.  Once we got home, he wanted to fetch his stick again, which I didn’t throw for him.  When it was time to feed him, he followed me to get their food and I saw him limping.  Damn.  Not what I want to see.  He could not go up the stairs.  Had to stop and figured a way to hop upstairs.  DB came home last night, he didn’t join the greeting committee.  He heard DBs truck and whined, that was all he could do.  Poor boy.  I feel so so bad now. He was still limping quite a bit this morning but still managed to get out the front yard to greet another the neighbor dog going for his morning walk with his master.  No walks today for him and he can whines and makes that Chewbacca, from Star Wars, sounds all he wants.

He’s back!

Comments Off

Chasey boy is back at our house this morning.  He will be here for a few days.  BF went for a wrist surgery and will not be able to care for him.  So, DB brought Chasey bud home and, boy, was he a firecracker.  He was out running the yard probably a few rounds.  DB said when he got in the house, he was running around the house before DB even had the chance to take his collar off.  That poor fella must be deprived of his space, I guess.

SD sent a picture of him taken last night with him laying next to his rawhide.  Not sure why he was moping over at SD’s place.  Yes, they have a small townhome, but that should not be a problem for him.  He goes nuts when SD and BF come visit us.  So, why was he not drinking water, like a “sun seen”, ate a little, gave him his usual carrots and apples but he didn’t want them, spit it out and laid the apple next to him, not touching it, and his tail was not wagging – always down.  Was not interested in his usual rawhides.  What was his problem?

When I got home this afternoon, I could hear him bark by the door to the garage and then his usual whining.  As soon as I opened the door, bang, he was right there, whining, and trying to jump on me.  Strange, man.  He was behaving so weird at their place, as if he is depressed, but from a dog?  He is like a human, a kid.

Right now he is sleeping and snoring at the same time.  As usual, I took him for his walks and let him run free at the school field.  He was running like he just “fong kaam”, non stop, back and forth between me and wherever he was running to.  Good thing about him is after a certain distance, he will come right back to me.  Then into the trails we went.  Same thing, he was running up the trails and back to me and disappeared for a few seconds and reappeared, all huffing and puffing.

I am not sure when he is going back to SD’s and if he does, I hope he won’t mope anymore.  I felt so bad when DB told me he looked depressed.  We shall see how it goes with this little guy.

He is having separation anxiety.  He puked his dinner when he went back to SD’s home.

When he left our house, he was a fire cracker, an energizer battery.  Happy and whining a little coz he wanted to go for a ride.  He went into the car albiet a little skeptical.  We said goodbye to him and I did feel a little sad to see him go.  I wish I can read what dogs are thinking.  Anyways, SD texted DB saying Chase puked and not drinking his water.  Didn’t do anything at all.  We thought he would get around the next day.

The whole day today he didn’t do much, didn’t whine, still didn’t his water, not sure if he ate his breakfast, didn’t poop nor peed.  The poor thing is sad.  SD said he looks sad.  He laid on the floor not doing anything.  BF took him out for a long walk and came back still looking sad.

I think Chase misses DBs and me, or he misses being outside the yard whenever he wants, or he misses Cooper.  Will have to give him a few more days to get use to his new living environment.  Poor guy.

It’s quieter now

Comments Off

Yes, it is much quieter now.  He has gone back home, home means his owners’ home.  That’s right.  I am talking about Chase, the cute little fella, well, not that little, but he is only 10 months old you know.  DB told me SD and BF will be here this evening to take him back to their place for good.  I know DB is glad to have Chase back to his owners coz he said Chase was driving him nuts with his constant whining and his ever ending energy.

I am kinda glad that he is gone coz I will have an extra hour to myself.  That hour was to walk him separately from the other boys.  Actually I walk him with Cooper since both are fast walkers.  I guess since now I have to walk the two older ones together I might need some alli diet pills to loose  pounds.  Walking the two boys together will be slower since Ranger walks like he is 90 years old.  I hardly work up any sweat unless it out on the trails.  So, I think some diet pills might help me from now on.

Anyone wants to adopt me?

My name is Chase.  I am from the Labrador Retriever breed, not the English storky kind, but the American type with model runway legs.  Yeah, I have very long and slim legs, every dog will envy me.  I’m a male and my color is yellow. I think I just turned 10 months old.  I am a great companion for anyone.  I am now living with two adults and two other dogs.  (They are older than me so they are no fun to play with.)  I am house broken,  easily trained with or without treats, but of course if there are some treats around I will obliged to your commands.  I know I will be a great hunter or a family pet.  Why?  Because I love to please my owners.   By the way, I have to admit I have a weakness.  Please don’t take that as a consideration in your decision.

I.Am.A.Fetching.Freak.

I need an owner who has time to burn off my never ending energy!

Hint: Fowl hunting is around the corner……

The little fella did it again

Comments Off

Yes, I am talking about Chase, the little fella.  He had the worse Hershey sprays ever last night or could be very early this morning while we were still sleeping.  There were poop sprays on the walls, carpets, rugs and patio door, from the dining room to the executive office.  We still could not figure out why he does not whine to let us know he wants out like how the other will do when they need to got out urgently.  DB woke up and smelled the wonderful smell of “fresh flowers”.  He spent the whole day getting the stains/smell out, vacumm and then shampoo the carpets again.  So much stress for me even I was not doing the cleaning.  Why?  Because of the smell that is still lingering in the house, stress which give me all the zits I don’t want.  Soon I will need to get acne treatments for my zits if I am not going to de-stress myself and also if Chasey boy won’t stop licking me all the time.  He has this licking addiction in him that is not going away.  Anyways, I am going to sprink more baking soda on the spots where he did his emergency tomorrow, let them sit for an hour and then vacumm.

The Boys

Here are the three boys, Ranger, Chase and Cooper, sitting pretty watching me eating my apple.  Yeah, can’t resist, I had to give them each a little bit of my apple.  Beggars can’t b e choosers.

Chase is getting big.  We promoted him and now he is out of his kennel.  He has outgrown his kennel at 6 months old.  DB and I thought he will be ok if he is out of his kennel.  It’s has been 4 nights since he is sleeping without the kennel in our room with the door opened.  He is doing good; knows how to bark loud if he really needs to go out for his potty.  He and Cooper are getting to be best buddies now.  They play a few times a day every day.

This is Chase sleeping next by the dining table while I was punching away on the laptop.  He has been sleeping in this position since he was a little pup.  I guess some things never change.

The tiled floor in the kitchen is now their favorite spot to chill, besides the bathroom tiled floor.   The above picture is Cooper all out after running and playing with the puppy.  Coops, you are not young anymore, buddy.

Updates

Comments Off

It’s been a while since I last updated this blog.  There is not enough time in the day to do much now.  I have been spending a lot of my time outside since the evenings are not as warm as in the afternoons.  Been doing the double whamy of walking these days.  I will walk Chase and/or Cooper than Ranger and/or Cooper next.  Ranger has been doing a very slow pace lately.  Cooper at times is not getting enough from the slow paced walks with Ranger.  Walks with Chase are much better.  We go and hardly any snooping at all and it’s usually a 40 – 50 minutes walk every day.

Weekends are the worse of the lot.  Saturday is just a waste of the rest of the evening as when I get home from Satay2Go, my legs need a rest so bad and to bed by 10 or earlier.   Sunday is cleaning day and then any time I have is to spend with the boys.

Speaking of the boys, Ranger’s allergies which makes him itch so bad is making him extremely miserable now.  The medication, Atopica we started him on worked well, but we cannot afford them for the long run.  Since he is a big dog, the required dosage for him is burning a big hole in our, or I should say my pocket.  Moreover, the side effect he had from taking Atopica was he almost went bald!  He had hair fall of him in clumps.  His hot spots have returned.  I have been bathing him every week with a special anti bacterial shampoo.  He will be itched free for the day until he gets out of the house to the yard.  I know he should not roll on the grass and not let him out on the grass.  But how can you not let your dog go outdoors and prevent him from rolling on the grass?  Just can’t coz, he is a dog.  Period.  DB took him to the vet again this morning for more meds for his allergies, itching and now yeast infection in his ears.  I have a gut feeling Ranger won’t be with us for long.  The life span of a Lab is about 12-14 years.  He is 9 now.

Then, we have Chasey boy.  Looks like he is gonna stay with us for a while.  I’m not sure if he is going back to his mommy and daddy.  His daddy had a chat with DB on Sunday discussing when they should bring the boy home.  Right now SD has to recover from her surgery of the birth of Ally plus getting the baby used to her new environment.  I think we will be adopting Chase soon!  Will have to see how it goes with SD and their situation.  Here are couple of pictures of Ally, yes, pictures of her with her eyes opened!

Can’t believe it, she is already a week plus old, time is flying by!  Ain’t she cute?? :)

Doggie days

Comments Off

The boys, especially Cooper and Chase are playing together now.  Chase is initiating the play with Ranger, but Ranger does not careless.  He will snub this little guy.  So, Chase will go to Cooper.  Cooper sorta ignore Chase for a while but then when Chase brings the torn-apart-Nylone frisbee, Cooper jumps for the chance to play.  The pictures below were taken on Sunday.  The frisbee was still in two pieces, barely hanging on.

Here they have each piece in their mouths but still sticking together

As of today, the frisbee is now officially in two pieces, but either one of them will pick one piece up and start their tug of war.  This evening both Cooper and Chase were playing hard.  Chase is now learning to play like the big dogs: chest to chest, paws up on the other, having his mouth full of Cooper’s righ/left neck.  I was going to take a video of it for Chase mommy, but I was too late!!  Sorry Beans!!  Here’s one for you.

Chase, Chase

Yep, Chase is here with us.  He is getting used to us now.  He chilling right now, laying by the dining table with the other boys.

Photobucket

We got him here til the baby is born, I think.   A pup is a pup, full of energy.  Dang, wish I have that kind of energy.   He is a sweet looking, pup, though, but I had to stop him from jumping on the couch or even tries to.   Hahaha, I’m giving him some obedience, that fella was jumping all over me on the couch yesterday.  Then this fella looks like he is going to be a dominant one, but I don’t know about that yet from what I observed but DB said that first.  Will see.  I know he is jealous when I pat the two other boys, Chase will be whining up a storm, barged in between the boys and scoot his way to be right in front of me.  It’s funny but I’m trying not to let him to do that so much.  The next funny thing is when it comes to feeding time, he whines a lot.  Oh.My.God.  I have never heard so much whining.  Again, it was funny.  Made us laugh.  I have to knee him a lot from not jumping on me.  But what seems to work is I’m making him work for his food and his demands.  He needs to sit before he gets his meals; sit or laydown before he gets his treats, and sit before he comes in the door which all seems to calm him down a little.  I didn’t want to do the obedience but I had to do it.  He almost knocked me down a few times, little guy like him has so much strength.   Did a lot of repetition on “down” today, hopefully he will get it by tomorrow.  Tomorrow is another day with this fella.  It’s hard to get angry with him with that puppy eyes.

The house is so quiet

Comments Off

Chase was with us since Monday and to be honest, I got used to having him around the house.  We have to watch him to make sure he doesn’t get eaten up!!  Chase loves to lick Ranger and Cooper’s face.  Each time he gets carried away with his licking DB and I will have to move him away from the big guys.  We think Ranger almost got him, we didn’t personally see it, but Chase was scurrying away from Ranger in the backyard.  I did see him licking and kept licking Ranger, but Ranger being the mellow one just moved his head left, right, down and up.  Maybe Ranger had enough of it and growled at him or something.  We don’t know, but that little fella was running away yelping for awhile and then he was back to his normal self.

*Chase and Coops.  Look at Chase’s legs, he is going to be a big boy*

SD and BF came to pick him up this evening.  It was so funny seeing Chase watching DB fold his kennel up.  (We put his kennel in our room – all 5 of us in the room.)  He wanted to get in to his kennel and followed DB to the front door with the kennel where DB left it there for SD to pick up.  I got Chase’s leash and collar to the entryway, too.  That cute little guy thought he was going some where.  Kept going back and forth from the dining room to the front door.  Man, he is so darn cute.

Photobucket

Our neighbor, Margie has a Golden Retriever (Shadow) and a Beagle mixed Collie (Rocky).  Chase loves running along the fence line with the two.  He is getting so big for a 3 month old.   Oh, we saw Chase starting to dig along the fence when the other two dogs are out there.  I told DB probably he is digging to get over the fence to play with the other dogs.

The day Chase got here he was quite skeptical of Cooper.  I threw the ball for him, he had to look at Cooper first, i suppose to make sure Cooper is not going for it.  I think he is getting there, he is learning.  Last evening, he started going for the squiggy ball that only Ranger plays with.  And today, he went for Coopers plastic frisbee.  Cooper let him have it, which was so cute to watch.   The frisbee was on the ground, Chase was standing next to it about to pick it up but Coops was about two feet away from the frisbee.  Chase looked at Cooper, Cooper looked at him and then at the frisbee and finally walked away.  Chase grabbed it and went galloping happily away, flinged it, pick it up and again and again he did it.

Spring is defenitely here.  The last drop of snow disappeared yesterday with temps up to 67F.  The above picture was taken on Sunday, the boys cooling off after their walk in the evening.  They were panting so much when they got home.  They actually asked to go out and that was what they did – laid on the snow.

Photobucket

This was last evening – no more snow and that means big time allergy season for Ranger.  he is already scratching and chewing his paws.  DB is taking him to the vet tomorrow.  Poor Ranger.

Ok, that’s it for tonight.  See why I have not been blogging, I have Mr Chase to play with every night.  I missed him.

DB dogsitting day2

Comments Off

chase.jpg

This was how Chase was most of the day yesterday.  It must be the medication the vet gave him for his pain that was making him so out of it.

When he came in the house yesterday morning, he was more cautious of his movements.  I was already at work when he came, so all these updates were from DB.  I asked him how was Chase with the two boys, he said Coops was sniffing the little fella out and the little one is not as hyper as he was the other day.  DB said “Situation normal” when I talked to him, 4 hours after Chase arrived.

meboyz.jpg

That’s how my boys are when I get home from work every day – all over me as if I’m going to leave them, especially Coops who is on my left.   He is one jealous dog.  If I pet Ranger first, he will try to sneak his way to me and when I was petting Chase, Coops would try to step in front of me or like what he is doing in the picture.

DB dogsitting

DB had the whole day puppy sitting SD’s pup, Chase.   He said Coops, the Mr. Dominant and resident dog was getting along fine with this little fella.

Cooper in the backyard 03112008 Coops out in the backyard enjoying the warm 50 degree day.

In fact I took a video of these two fellas out on the yard, sniffing out each other and  getting along fine.  (I can’t load it on my blog.)  Then…..shortly after Chase got in the house where I took the above picture, and then came in Cooper and Ranger.  DB thought he would give the bigger boys a rawhide each.  Both big boys and DB went downstairs and I took Chase out to pee as I saw him dribbled on the carpet.  When he was done peeing, he ran back  into the house.  Coops and DB were upstairs and DB said he gave them each a bone.  Chase was in the dining room with Coops and I was showing DB where the dribble was.   All of a sudden a big puppy yelp and more yelps plus a ton of whining coming from the kitchen with Chase running out of the kitchen to the front door.  I ran to him, that poor thing was so scared he didn’t know what to do.  I picked him up, he was still yelping.  Really breaks my heart to hear that yelp.  Then I saw it.  I red mark on his snout, bleeding, a little blood, and another tooth mark on the other side of his snout.  Cooper ran over to me after I picked Chase up but DB sent him out of the house.  I think Coops knew he hurt his little friend and came to say sorry??  I don’t know, but that little fella was really crying up a storm.  He kept looking at me and whined.  DB said puppies are very melodramatic, plus a lab, too.  There, even more drama!  WE think Chase was trying to take Cooper’s bone and Cooper bit him a little too hard, or maybe he didn’t mean to?  Who knows what’s going on in the doggie minds.

Chase’s daddy came picked him up and we told him what had happened.  Apparently after he got home, he was still all shooked up.  He was panting and didn’t know what to do I suppose.  SD and BF brought him to the vet.  I really feel so bad for the pup.   The vet gave him pain killers and antibiotics just incase of an infection.

DB will be dog sitting again for half the day tomorrow.  He said the pup will be fine….he will sleep it off tonight and tomorrow is another day for him.

Early birthday celebration

Comments Off

SD and BF came over on Tuesday with their puppy, Chase, and a cake.  A cake for my birthday.  It’s an early sorta celebration between us family.   I forgot to take a picture of the cake before we cut it.  Here is the cake that’s what was left after DB had another helping of the cake that evening.  Thanks, SD/BF.

dsc01371.JPG

They also brought their little new addition to the family – the furry one.  The “bun” she is baking will be ready some time in May, and DB and I can’t wait for it to appear!  Anyway, here is the furry addition, Chase, a yellow labrador retriever.   He is so cute, so adorable, cuddley, makes me want one!! Presenting, Chase….

dsc01367.JPG Yeah, finally got it…

I can just imagine what Ranger looked like when he was a pup…..like Chase.   Chase has the short muzzle like Ranger and the wider set head.  Ranger is laying by the sofa not caring for anyting unless there is food involve.  Where is Cooper?  He is laying away from Chase because Cooper is too dominant and does not want anything to do with the pup when inside the house.
