Birthday boys

Comments Off

Today last year I was in KL celebrating this little boy’s birthday, my nephew, my sister’s youngest boy.  It was also my honey’s birthday.  They are both Pearl Harbor babies.

12/07/2007: Rhys' 7th Birthday

Last year I didn’t celebrate DB’s birthday with him but today I did although we didn’t do anything special.  He said it’s just another day, a day older and another day crankier! :)   No, he is actually not, I just added that to spice things up.  The best gift he ever received was this special girl:

Photobucket

And look at her now…at 6 months old.  Isn’t she adorable??

Allyson Mae - 6 months

Yeah, Ally is the best gift he received this year, the precious little pumpkin.

Head hunter

Comments Off

DBs received an email from a head hunter out in New Jersey.  He said he found DBs resume on the internet.  Yeah, DBs has been applying for a ton of jobs out there and still waiting for a response.  The email from the headhunter is for a position in North Carolina, Thomasville to be precised.  When I read it the requirements, it sounded cool but then there are so many other things on the email that are not too enticing.  There will be no relo package but instead there will be a sign on bonus.  Well, that won’t really help much to move cross country.  The other thing we saw was the hours which is average 50 to 52 hours a week and it’s 12 hours a day.  The OT will work great especially with our current situation, but when there is extra cash there is a chance of getting the toys we want.

There will be so much to ponder on if we ever move to a different state.  The dogs are one of the criteria where rented townhomes allow dogs, not just small to medium size but large dogs.  The first thing that came to my mind about North Carolina is it is the home of NASCAR, Brian Vickers and Bobby Labonte live in Thomasville.  How sweet is that.  I can dream of it not, but back to reality, DBs is waiting for a reply from the headhunter. Will update when we get a reply.

Babysitting night

Comments Off

This evening we had the pleasure to sit Ally.  The poor girl is recovering from an ear infection and runny nose.  Could hear her snorty nose.  She was quite stuffed up when she took a nap at our place.  And she was kinda holding her hand up to her right ear.  Poor girl.  This little girl surely knows how to fight her sleep.  She only took a 15 minute nap for the entire 3 plus hours she was with us.  She was tired, rubbing her eyes, yawning, and rubbing her eyes more but refused to sleep.  Instead she was babbling and talking to us.  Really cute.  Took some pictures, of course, but a lot of them turned out blurry.  DBs was carrying her and he was bouncing her up and down, all the pictures turned out I had a few when taking the pictures.  Finally able to take some shots that are decent.   Ally does not like the camera very much.  She frowns most of the time when she sees the camera, or maybe it’s just my camera.

Our grandkid

Comments Off

Ally turned 3 months on Sept 6th.  She is growing like a weed.  She growing tall and can now lay on her tummy and if you give a boost on her feet, she will crawl a little for us.  So cute.  She is so smiley, too.  I love to see her coz she will be smiling when you look at her.  She is 16.5 lbs and is taller now.

I watched her for a little bit couple of days ago.  She was a darling, very easy peasy kid and easily contended.  I guess it’s not mine, so taking care of her for a while and so happened she was good, it was easy for me!

Her smile is so addictive.  I will make her smile so I can see her smile.  :D   Grandpa and grandma here love this little pumpkin.   Oh, we think she is teething.  Her mommy said she has been very cranky, nothing satisfys her.  My coworker, Ms E told me the old wives tales that if the first child is growing up so fast, that means he/she is making way for a second one!  Really????  Anyone heard of that?

Maybe it’s true, coz my sis’ #1 was doing a lot of stuff sooner than a normal baby did: crawled, walked and talked soon before he reached his 1st bday.  Right sis?

DB’s procedure

Comments Off

DB and i went out to the store and pharmacy yesterday afternoon.  Yes, DB is pretty much a last minute kinda guy.  He needed to get a procedure done for today, he only called the clinic nurse to ask about combining his prescriptions and what he needs to take for the procedure.  He also had to read the other instructions from his doctor and whatever others that were given to him in the packet.

We went to the store pharmacy and guess what he had to get for today’s procedure?  Anyone know what the below Rx was for?  It’s a concoction.

Photobucket

After he got his Rx, we got some stuff for his meal for the rest of the day.  Taking this Rx for this procedure his last main meal has to be 2 pm and after he down the stuff of the Rx, he cannot take any solid food except for clear liquids and jello.

We got some cartons of Swanson’s chicken broth and for his last treat of the day before he starts his concoction.  As usual he wants some good old ice-cream and we found some Haagen-Dazs scream since they are 2 for $6.  He got a Banana Split and I got a Green Tea scream.

Photobucket

This was my first time Green Tea scream and I really like it.  Even DB liked it too.  I ate a quarter of the scream and how much did DB eat????  He ate the entire contents of that little carton.  That was a lot.  After and hour plus or around 2 hours eating the scream, my stomach was just aching like when you have diarrhea.  Yep, it was a really bad stomach ache.  Think I overloaded on ice-cream.  Whatever scream I had were all gone and DB started on his concoction in the evening.

Did y’all figure out what that concoction was for?  That prep that he had to take, according to him tasted like chemicals.  It was very nasty to a point where he almost puked drinking it.  His mother and BF took the prep before and they puked, too.  The concoction was for his today’s colonoscopy procedure, where his guts and whatever else needed to be cleaned out.  That guy was in and out of the bathroom for quite some time.  He had no food in him the whole evening and night and was fasting this morning till after the procedure which was all completed and out of the hospital at 11:45 a.m.  I was his designated driver coz he was sedated for this procedure.  He is now back to his normal self and eating his solids.

He don’t have to get another colonoscopy done for the next 5 years.  Some of his family members already had theirs done due to one of them had a polyp in their rectum.  Scary thing which might lead to colon cancer.  Yikes.

Sometimes I wonder does the medical check requirements are the same in Malaysia, like this colonoscopy has to be done when a person reaches 50 or earlier if family members have polyps found during their procedure.  DB said it does not hurt and was watching the whole thing on a screen.  He felt something in his body and that was it.  He was very groggy when I went in to see him after the procedure but after 3 BP checks, he was good to go home.  His BP was good.  Thank God!

Early Christmas pressie

Comments Off

I received a very early Christmas present yesterday.  It came in a DHL package, asked DB what’s in there, he said it was for me. Saw the returned address from IBM Corporation and then…..my bro’s name, the bro in Boston.   Opened the package and box which was so light, as if there is nothing in there.

Photobucket

Then korek-korek the paper, I saw this…….

Photobucket

What it is???  It’s an iPod Nano.  Holy schmoly!  I was beaming from ear to ear.  I was going to hook it up to my PC to download my music and podcasts, but was too busy dinking with DB’s Blackberry.  He needs me to customized his phone…..i guess he thinks I’m more efficient with these sort of crap.

Ok, back to the iPod, I’m sure shocked to received it.  Never mentioned an iPod to him before.  So is it becoz he got one for my sis last year, he got one for me, too?  I had to call him today to thank him instead of writing him an email.  Unfortunately, the call went into his voicemail.  You know how it is talking to a machine, a lot of ahs, ers, and mhms.  Hope he gets what I was trying to say.

So, now, I’m gonna go mess around with it…….

New phone

Comments Off

DB ordered new phones for us last week since his phone fell into the toilet and has gone haywired.  Funnily, the phone can still received text messages but it cannot send any calls or text messages.  He purchased a Blackberry Smartphone for himself and a LGenV2 for me through Verizon Wireless.

Photobucket

Yes, the LGenV2 arrived on Tuesday and of course I was spending most of my spare time dinking with the new toy.  I was going to transfer my contacts from my old phone to the new one before activating the new phone.  Well, tough luck for me,  DB had already activated the new phone for me.  This LGenV has an internal QWERTY keypad with a bigger screen when the phone is opened.  I forgot to take a picture of the phone opened.  Click on the above link and you will be able to see the phone from all angles.  I totally love the Qwerty keypad coz I can type faster that way although I am still using my two thumbs.  I can receive calls both ways: from the front where I just have to hit Send or flip open the phone and put the call on speakers.  Suhweet!  The screen is so clear where it actually is capable of downloading pictures and videos for viewing.  And there voice activation where I can record my commands like say call home and the phone will call the number for me and this voice activation is also used in the the VZ Navigator, a GPS for the folks with no sense of direction like me.

New toy and treating it like a baby.  Oh speaking of baby, which is out of subject, just heard from DB that Ally has already rolled over.  She was over at her grandma’s in Rochester, she rolled over.  Man, this little missy is so advance.  She was already half grown when she was born.  Can’t wait to see her again.  DB will be sitting her on Monday.  I’m wondering if we need to get a pack and play for her when she comes over our house.  Will have to discuss with the grampie.

Photobucket

Back to my Olympics men’s swimming competition now and will be staying up for the  women’s gymnastics individual rounds .  Happy weekend, folks.

DB, the sitter

Comments Off

DB had Ally yesterday and today.  She turned 2 months old yesterday, August 6.    She is pretty much a good baby, fusses when she’s tired and with dirtied diapers.  The boys did good with her.  Chase, the licker, licks her non stop, her feet, hands, legs, anything he can get a hold of.   I have to say this kid has a sensor on her head or body.  Each time we put her down after she falls asleep in our arms, she will be wide awake.  She is 15 pounds and I have to say, I have sore arms today.  DB said I need to lift weights so I can carry her.  I’m sure after a few times carrying her, I will be building muscles.

The wait is over

Comments Off

Yes, the wait is finally over.  SD had a baby girl last night at 10:49 p.m. (June 6, 2008).  They named her Allyson Mae.  Sweet name.  She weigh 9lbs 8oz and 21-3/4 inches long.  She is gonna be a one tall girl.  So my guess was quite close with the weight and height.  I guessed approximately the baby would be a nine pounder plus and about 20 inches long.  Both proud mom and dad are very tall.

Anyways, we still have Chase with us.  He is getting to be big now and a very melodramatic dog.  He can replace any best diet pill I can find in the drugstore coz this guy walks fast.  I definitely feel my butt, hips and leg muscles had a good workout after a walk with him.  No, I do not walk all three dogs at the same time.  That would be a disaster.  The two older boys are now not too keen with the hot and sticky weather.  They take slower pace walks which is good.  At least  they are not over heating with their thick coat on them.  I don’t have a heavy coat like them, I don’t like the heat and humidity either.  I can’t wait for the temps to drop a little tomorrow.

WIll put up a picture of DB’s grandkid up later.  Too lazy to do it now.  We went to the hosp to visit SD and BF this evening.  First time I carried a brand spanking new baby.  That kid is heavy.  She is already on size 1 diapers.  Oh yah, I thought that kid would be squirming around when I was holding her, but she didn’t.  She continued to sleep just like a baby.  SD said she is good so far, very content kid.  Nursing is going good, the kid latches on right away. SD will discharge from the hosp on Monday.  Told her if she needed help, holler.

No baby yet

Comments Off

SD is about a week plus over due.  She was supposed to be induced this morning but the hosp is too busy so they said!!  Must be the weather, the barometric pressure is dropping and causes super duper pregnant ladies into labor!  That’s what my coworker told me which I think is a load of crock!!!  SD called the hosp to make sure they have a room for her, but the hosp is too busy.  She is now on call, hang around and wait.  Dang, I would be so darn pissed!!  Can’t go for a walk outside coz it’s raining.  What a bummer!

So hopefuly, SD’s waterbag breaks and she will have to go to the ER now.  It would be nice if her waterbag breaks, go to the hosp ER, no room for her and then send her to a different hosp.  That was what happened to my friend, Corrine.  Corrice was suppose to go to the same hosp as SD, but since the hosp was fully booked, they sent her to a different hosp in Shakopee, a brand spanking new one.  They put her in a first class room.  Nice.

Mae's b'da card which I made

Today is my sis‘ birthday.  A Taurus to the T.  You know, like a bull….. :D but a very compassionate person.  I made her a card, the one above, forgot to take a picture of the inside.  Actually I think it was not the best looking card that was why I didn’t take a picture of it.  But anyhoo, it’s the thought that counts.  So, there you go.  I remembered your birthday.  Happy birthday and hope you have a good one, too.  So, people, go greet my sister a:

“Happy Birthday.
Sang yat fei lok
Nin nin yau kam yatt
suei suei yau kam chew
Kong hei lei,kong hei lei
Chuk lei cheong mang pak suei.”

Our 11th wedding anniversary

Comments Off

Happy anniversary, babe!  (Yeah, I know how much you like your pictures taken, but I can’t help it. :) )

I love you for what you are, the goofball who makes me laugh, drives me super mad and then makes me smile and laugh within seconds.  We have gone through a lot of hardships and we stayed strong and live life with our funny antics, a good sense of humor to make our lives easier.  I’m very happy being with you through thick and thin, I’m gonna stick by you.  Thank you for being you and loving me for who I am.

Photobucket

This year anniversary we are laying low.  No gifts, flowers or cards.  I actually forgot about it!  Yes, I ought to be shot!!!!  We gave each other a big, big HUG and held on to each other for a while and said a thank you to the good old Lord for putting up with us! :D

SD’s baby shower

Comments Off

I got an email from SD yesterday morning re her baby shower:

Hi there,
Well I am getting ready to help my sister plan a baby shower…. Just seeing if there is anyone that I should invite that I didn’t think of…. also Dawn do you want to come? (it is going to be at my mother’s house) I figure I give you that warning before you decide. If you want to that would be cool, but if not I understand also!! So if not maybe we can do lunch and some shoppig some saturday or something? let me know what you guys think……
k talk to you later
ME!

*Sigh*, I’m in a dilemma now.   The shower is on Saturday, March 15.  I want to go but then………if you get the drift.  I have been to her mom’s house once but that was when her mom was at work.  I saw her sisters before but that is a different thing.   I suppose it would be easier to go have lunch and then go shop just the two or three of us (SD, BF/DB and me).  She has pretty much got most of every thing set for the nursery.  And I’m sure she is going to register with Target and Baby r’Us for her baby shower.

I have only attended three baby showers so far.  When I received my first invite several years ago, I was like “What the heck is a baby shower?!!”  I never heard of baby shower when I was in Malaysia.   To be honest, when my friend in Ipoh gave birth to her son, I think that was 13 or 14 years ago, I gave her an angpow and bought some newborn clothes for her.  The angpow for her was a little bit fatter because she was my good friend, it’s like a special treatment for her.

Before I attended my coworkers’ baby showers, both mom-to-be told me they were registered at Target, Kohls, Walmart, and Baby rUs.  They registered at these stores for what kind of stuff they want for their baby.  For example, milk bottles, clothes, bath mat, blankets stroller, etc.  The invited guests can go to any one of these stores and go to the kiosk for Baby Showers, type in the mother’s name and it will print out what the mother wants for her baby/nursery.

The day of the shower and usually the guests will be all females, there will be food and baby shower games.   I remember the one game we had was each guest has to change the “baby’s” diaper and whoever changes it the fastest, she will win a prize.  When my turn came and tried to change the diaper with whatever experience I had when I was babysitting my nephews, I flipped and flopped the “baby” so hard every one knew I am not a baby handler.  If that was a real baby, that baby would be in pieces!  It’s fun to attend coz you are with your friends.

Anyways, I still have some time to think about SD’s baby shower, and I know if I go, I would be very uncomfortable coz I do not know the people she invited except few of her friends, and then I have to deal with her relatives.  I guess I have already have an answer for her….”No, I won’t be going.”
