We had snow!

Comments Off

The snow finally came on Saturday.  All good 3 inches, and that was all.  It’s actually disappointing for me!  I was hoping for more.  I was out and about on Saturday meeting up with my ex co-worker at Panera Bread.  When I left the house at noon it was just sleeting.  Traffic on the freeway was not bad at all, smooth.   However, 3 hours after, the snow plows were out and I was stucked at County Road 42 for 1 hours 50 minutes just to get home.  It was a parking lot!

This is what it looks like while getting off the ramp to 35E/W.  The roads were very icy, a lot of cars spunned out and accidents all over.  I suppose since it was the first snow fall of the season, every one has to learn how to drive in the snow again!

Morning has Broken

Comments Off

I heard this song on the radio driving in to work and it’s stuck in my head since then. Good thing it’s a beautiful tune which reminds me of the days back in Main Convent during our Ethics classes.   I remember playing it on the piano, too, at home, not at school! :)

Fall-ish weather, misc.

Comments Off

Finally, the temperature is not hovering around the 80′s anymore.  The air conditioning is taking a break, although it had a couple days of rest last week.  The rest of the week’s temperature will hit upper 60′s.  That’s just perfect walking weather.  No rain in sight.

Funny how the two dogs has more energy now that the weather is cooling off in the evening when I take them for their walks.  Ranger walks fast, so fast that I’m actually lagging behind him!  Chase’s frisbee fetching sessions are longer instead of 10 minutes where he will pretty much shows me the body language he is dying from the heat.  Now he keeps wanting to fetch that seems like forever to me.

Yes, I still misses Cooper every time we are outside on our walks and frisbee time.  My tug-of-war and obedience champion! :)   It will be 4 weeks this coming Friday that he left us.  Time is just flying by and we are already towards the end of 3rd quarter.  Looking forward to my trip back to Spore/M’sia end of November/December, but not the shopping before I leave!  If my sister reads this she will give me a earful. Hehehehe.

I went for a part time waitressing job interview last weekend.  It’s a Chinese restaurant out in Edina, owned by a Ipoh guy.  It’s about 40 minutes drive, 27 miles one way.  Will hear from the owner this week if he will hire me.  Although getting a part time job is good for the pocket money, however, with the sky rocketing price of gas, I am not too sure now.  Just thinking of the drive kinda puts me off, but who knows, I  might not get the job since I am not the only one they are interviewing.   But in order to go on vacation at the end of November, I need extra cash…..that leaves me thinking if I should apply for a stocker position at one of these places: Home Depot, Menards, Fleet Farm – they are closer to home especially winter is just around the corner!

Bible study starts this Thursday.  So the novelty of working part time is slowly drifting out of my system, may as well hope I DON’T pass the waitressing interview!  I really am looking forward to bible study.  It’s not money making but it gets me to read the bible! ;)   Need the motivation to jump start the engines.  Will have to sleep on the idea of working PT.

And I’m surprise I’m able to rid of FB games, well, take that back, I did responded to some friends requests and I sent out some requests but I got tired of it.  I told DB it is a good thing my PC is taking its sweet blardy time to process each click.  It’s because of that slowness with my PC that made me kick those darn games out.  Even going into FB checking friends’ stats takes time for the PC to “churn”.  Major sian.  The good thing is I’m working on my sewing albeit slow.

Last is….. I really want to run a 10K or half marathon.  Team Ortho has a Monster Dash run in October.  I know I can register for 5K, but 5K don’t seem to motivate me.  Will have to see how the wallet leaves me with this month to register for one of the longer runs.  10K is a challege, however,  half marathon (13 miles) is even better, it motivates and drives me harder to “get her done” under 2 plus hours.  That’s my goal.

K, that’s all for now till I feel like update again!  Ta ta for now….

Some heart warming vids

Comments Off

It’s hump day, middle of the week and I’m bored out of my mind right now.  So did a lot of surfing and found some videos on animals.  The first one I saw was about a bear and the next one about a dog and the dolphin.  They are so heart warming.  Watching these two videos moved me, almost brought me to tears.   This website has really darn good videos.  If you are bored, go and check the site out.

Last NASA’s space shuttle launch

Comments Off

I’m now waiting to watch the lift off of NASA’s last space shuttle launch to space, Atlantis.  It’s really cool listening to the communication between the shuttle crew and mission control.

(Pictures snagged from MSNBC video)

Final launch and the end of space exploration of US history!  A lot of folks are saying it’s the dumbest thing to do to get rid of space exploration…..that’s where all the newest science invention started from.

After thoughts

Comments Off

I watched the Royal Wedding on April 29th.  Set my alarm clock at 3 am CST, turn the TV on and the pre-wedding stuff was on, had super “kau” coffee, took the boys out, came back and sat in front of the pc with FB on whilst flipping channels.  All national stations i.e. CBS, ABC and NBC were airing live but all have commercials in between which was annoying.  So I flipped to BBC America….so so much better and it was nice to listen to the British accent again!

Now, I have to say the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was fine and dandy but there are really things that stuck out like a sore thumb.  Ok, here is a few that struck me right on the head, and they are remain my opinion, only.

  1. The dresses worn by the guests were nice.  The pair of shoes worn by Beckham’s wife, Victoria are kinda out of place in a church wedding…guess I’m old fashion in that way.
  2. Of course the hats…..majority of them are not too bad but I know by know everyone has been talking about the two princesses (Beatrice and Eugenie) bizarre hats.  Reminds me of Fruit of the Loomlogo.  I have to add, Vic Beckham’s hat that sits on her forehead, WTF!!!  I like the PM’s wife’s dress, simple yet so elegant and she came without a hat!  I think she was the only one without a hat which probably made some news since the dress code was hats for the women.
  3. The wedding dress is sweet and simple, it’s nice but something about the bodice that is not sitting right on the bride.  It makes her boobies so sharp, reminds me of Madonna’s outfit she wore in her Blondie Concert (I think that’s the name of it).  Same goes with the evening dress.  What’s up with the designers?  I love the maid of honor’s dresses, wedding and reception and how the she carries them.  I think they would be lovely to see Kate on them.
  4. The bride looks anorexic, reminds me of Kate Moss.  The hip bones were sticking out.  Looks like she starved herself just for the wedding.  Sorry to say the full form front view of her makes her look like a bamboo shoot.  Her side profile just her face is very very pretty, especially with the veil and tiara.
  5. When the couple exchanged their vows, they said “I will” instead of “I do”.  I assume that’s the British way?
  6. How the newly wed couple held their hands walking out the abbey seems so stiff, so fake, so unnatural.  Even during the official pictures taken after the wedding in the palace especially with just them two.

Ok, that’s all I’m going to list….I bet whoever stumbles on this post will say I’m a sour puss!  Say all you want but the above remains as my opinion and sense of humor.

I got out from my shower and found this in our room.

Chase, the booger! DB said “He sure likes you a lot.”   He was asleep and didn’t even move a muscle when I took this picture.  Usually he will open his eyes or stretch out a little, but that evening, nothing from him.  My clothes must have smelled so bad it knocked him out! Hahahhaha!!

Face on snow

Comments Off

I saw this when I was out with Chase last month when the snow piles were still 10 stories high (kidding) and temperatures were between 5 and -10F degrees.  Promised, I didn’t alter anything before and the only thing I changed after was just cropped it made it brighter. See below for the original.

0122011651.jpg

Looks kinda spooky.  Each time I drive up to our house, the “face” will be looking at me.  But since these past week, the temperature climbed up to the 40′s which is so warm in the sun, this “face” is now gone and the white snow is now all dirty white, gray and don’t know what else on it.

Weekend getaway?

Comments Off

My friend, the S, and I are thinking of going somewhere this weekend.  It’s a holiday on Monday for us, President’s Day.  We initially thought of cooking a bunch of food and binge, but she suddenly came up with a crazy idea of a weekend getaway to Chicago!  It’s about 6 plus to 7 hours drive from where she lives.  Not bad of an idea at all since I have not been to the Windy City.  I mentioned it to the man, think he is not too fond of that idea but just too bad for him.  Will talk to him tonight after bible study class about this all girls weekend getaway!

Best Super Bowl XLV Commercial

Comments Off

Super Bowl XLV (25) is done with. It was yesterday evening between Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. I so wanted Steelers to win but too bad, the Peckers won…oppp…wrong spelling, Packers! :)

Ok another reason I purporsely sit in front of the TV for Super Bowl (SB) are the commercials. This year’s SB commercials were so lame….so lame that I couldn’t wait for each commercial to end. They were pathetic. Usually the commercials during the SB are always good, not all, but a lot of them are worth the watch. This year the best amongst so many of them, I like this, Baby Darth Vader. The kid is too cute in the Darth Vader suit.

The real Cityville

Comments Off

0113011444.jpg

I’m really hooked to this game.   Of course the above picture is not a snapshot of Cityville.  This picture was taken right in front of my office window.  It just got done snowing a little, enough snow to cause a nuisance on the freeways.  My Cityville has more buildings but it’s snow covered.  In real, there’s more snow on the grass in this picture, however the company has its Facilities’ folks haul them snow to an empty lot by the walking paths.  I come in at 6 am which is early enough to see the few trucks hauling snow from the parking lots, and side walks so the employees can park their vehicles easily.

My 2010 Christmas present

Comments Off

I left really early on December 23rd, 2010.  There was only me and another admin (M) in the office that day.  See how hardworking these admins are! :)   M said she wants to leave at 11:30 to get her groceries done which also to avoid the human traffic on 24th.  She said i should leave around that time, too, since there were only we 2 souls, practically did nothing except surfed and chatted.

I left 15 minutes after she did and headed to Sam’s Club to get my weekly groceries.  I saw a pair of boots priced decently – suits my budget most importantly.

DSC03247

I told myself UGG’s are 100x expensive for me, plus it’s so darn hard on my feet since I have screwed up feet now. I vouched not to get UGG’s or any other similar design. Well, I’m eating my own words now.

I tried the above pair on, it was very soft but the base (is that what you call it?) is still very hard on my feet. So I inserted my orthotics in, well, lo and behold, the pair of boots is now so super soft and comfy. Walked around a little, yet was still debating if I should or not. In the end I told myself, “Get it, it’s your Christmas present.” Hahahahaha, too easy, isn’t it???

This 100% Australian sheepskin boots, buatan Cina cost me $38.95.  There was a lady who was trying on the black pair said she is getting a pair for her niece because she herself has a pair and is very comfortable and worth the price.

Went home had to parade around a little to see which wearing style is better.

This…. DSC03246

…OR this.

I prefer wearing it the other way, the first one. It suits me better since I’m a shorty.

If worse comes to worse, will stick to the old fashion way:

Merry Christmas to myself! :D

The open ceremony was that night when I took the boys out for their potty run before bed. I have to say walking on flat ground with snow is alright. By the way, it was snowing pretty good that night, too. Unfortunately I was sliding on my ass when Ranger had to go up the little wooded area to do his business. His leash got tangled up around those bald shrubs. I had to climb up the snow bank, got him loose, shooed him down to ground level. I followed behind and the grip on the soles were not enough, or I could have stepped on an uneven bump, I went for a slide ride. Oh well, at least it was quite soft of a landing but left me with a cold butt.

Thereafter, I was wearing the boots each time I went out with my errands and church. Good buy I might say! :)

Second day of 2011

Comments Off

It’s already the second day of 2011.  I still remember last year’s first week of January.  This year definitely went by fast but then I mentioned the same thing last year.  It’s just that when I get older, everything is so routined that I the days are just swifting pass in a hurry, although I always find that the time at work is v.e.r.y. s.l.o.w..

What did I do for the last day of 2010?  Frigging eh play games, and more games and watch movies after another.  Tomorrow would be the first time I am dying to get back to work.  I was off the day before Christmas eve till today and is more than enough to kill me.   Can’t believe I am saying this: I miss my routines.  During these off days, I can say I definitely caught up with my FB games.  Initially I wasn’t that interested in this particular game, Cityville.  My friend invited me as her neighbor, requested me as crew, wants me to send stuff to her, however, before I can accept the “coins” and “goods”, I needed to be “actually” playing.  Frick!  So I did, and the rest I don’t have to say anything.

This year I have no resolutions.  They are pointless at this time of my live.  I live one day at a time.  I don’t even know what an hour will bring let alone tomorrow or next week.  I’m anal about that now.   Of course I have ideas and thoughts of this and that but I scrapped them off except for one or two.  It’s hard to be positive but, hell, I am sure working hard on it  and keeping my head above the waters.

All the best to y’all in 2011.

Cafe World duties

Comments Off

My sister and her family are heading to Ipoh tomorrow (Wednesday).  I’m just imagining myself in Ipoh at our mom’s with my sis and her kids…..eating all the Ipoh food.   Not sure if her hubs is coming along with them now or later.  But anyhoo, since she is out on vacation, stuffing herself silly and also slaving over the real stoves at our mom’s, she has left her virtual cafe (Cafe World) in my hands.

She has worked hard in her cafe to beat the rest of her “cafe” kakis.  If I remember right she’s at level 219 or it could be higher.  So my duty is to keep the stoves going strong, keep her level the highest amongst all her kakis.   Below is a snapshot of her “cafe” she worked so hard in achieving it to where it is.  In addition to hers, she is busy with mine too that I’m not into it anymore.  Goes to show how much interest I have with “food” even though it’s virtual.

Before she told me to jaga her “cafe” she sent me a parcel of makanan!!!  All the ready made paste, instant stuff.  Yummy stuff.  That’s her trick – trick me to be a happy camper than throw the bomb at me – jaga the cafe and don’t let it burn down.  Those are her words.  Eat full and have the energy to stay up to keep the stoves HOT! :)

Ok then, I sure will toong siew (midnight supper) every night and make sure I don’t trash her cafe! :)

Drinking “water” is so good

Comments Off

My friend Stef brews her kei-chi (wolfberries) drink every day when she is in the office. She said it helps with her poor eyesight. Another one of my friend, Samm, does the same thing but she adds dates to the mix. So for me, since I am staring at the monitor for 8 hours at work and another 4-5 more hours at home, I thought I better do something with my weakening eyesight.

Excuse me for this poor picture….taken with my crappy cellphone.

1112001103.jpg

Since I don’t brew this drink at home because I forget or am lazy, I have them at work. I have  packs of empty tea bags, I made use of them for this purpose.  I put in kei-chi and dates (red and black), no sugar added as the dates have such “sweet” taste to them, throw the bag in the water jug, add hot water, brew it for for about 20 mintues.  At times if I feel like it, I will add in some ginseng into the bag too.  Drinking water is never better.  DB will look at the bag of mixture I put together and shakes his head.  Told him the Chinese concoction drink for good health!
