Photohunt: Wrinkled

PhotoHunters

This week’s  got me wondering, looking all over the house, closet, office and the car and finally something struck my melon.  There’s always a piece of a wrinkled item in the linen drawer.  Yes, the bedsheets.  Once they come out from the dryer, they are folded and go straight into the drawer and when it’s time to change new sheets, this is what the sheet looks like and no, I don’t iron my sheets.  I’m that lazy.

This week’s Photohunt theme is Colorful.   Here is the picture of the colorful crystal flowers found on the lobby ceiling of the Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas.  Not very good pictures of them but at least I got them for memory sake.

Photohunt: Cloud(s)

Cloud is this week’s  theme.  It was hard to find the sky with clouds these days, the weather has been so hot, clear blue skies with not a single cloud.  So, I searched through my pictures and found the below picture taken in March of this year.  Spring weather, blue skies with only one patch of cloud in the sky.    I find it kinda cool.  Can you see it?  Have a great weekend y’all.

Photohunt: Hanging

This week’s  theme is Hanging.  Here is a picture of what’s left of the basketball net hanging by itself on the hoop.  This in-ground steel basketball pole, hoop, backboard, and net are as old as the house.  It was installed when the first owners moved-in in 1966.  The net felled apart last year, must be from the weather and wear and tear through the 40+ years.

Happy weekend, folks!

25 July 2008

Yeeehah, the weekend is here.  I really like Friday and especially on payday Fridays.  Payday Fridays means no boss, hah, no boss to hawk over me.  I do take advantage when the boss is not around.  The big boss is in but he never bothers me.

Anyhoo, today I went for my First Aid and CPR class.  This class was given free to all employees who wish to learn about First Aid and CPR.  Before I went for this class, I had to take an online class which was 4 hours on the said subject.  After going through the lessons, every participant needs to pass the pre-assessment test at least 80% or higher.  It gives the participants two chances to take the test.  If you didn’t get at least 80% on the first go, you will have the last chance.  I had to take it twice.  I went through my lessons last week and didn’t take the assessment test on Wednesday.  Of course fail lah!!  What I read, heard, saw all forgotten.  Had to go over the lessons again and took the test.  Passed.

The actual CPR class was good.  We used dummies and practice mouth to mouth with a mouth barrier and chest compressions.  The instructor also taught us what needs to be done if there is an actual situation, how to give CPR to an unresponsive and responsive victim, and a choking victim.  We learned the Heimlich maneuverto expel the object from the choking victim.  And of course, some ladies asked what should be done if it was a little kid, a baby.  The maneuvers are certainly differently.  I really hope I don’t have to use it.  It’s a good to know kinda thing and the same goes with CPR. Giving chest compressions (30 compressions for every 2 breaths) is not easy.  Boy, they are tiring.

When I got home, I was late first off, I started playing with the camera again since tomorrow is Photohunt day.  The pictures below were taken with my Canon Powershot using the appeture and shutter speed mode.  I am still learning how to take pictures with the two features.  It seems to take better pictures than in Auto mode.  What you say??  Have a great weekend folks!

Photohunt: What is that

The  theme for this week is What is that and I found something that made me wondered initially.  First look, I thought it was a beanie baby.  When I picked it up, there are no beanies in it.  So what is that?

Next, what are the white balls amongst the little hole in the backyard?  Do you know what is that?

Those white looking balls are mothballs.  The vet told us putting mothballs in the patch where the dogs like to dig will stop them from further digging.  It worked for us.

15 July 2008

it was a hot one yesterday, at least to me, it is.  Needless to say, the boys don’t get their walks in.  I went outside in the evening to water the plants, I was sweating buckets.  Threw the frisbee for Cooper and Chase and both had their tougues hanging out within seconds.  Today’s temperature will be in the 90’s which means I will get home from work and sit inside til the sun sets.  I’m getting spoiled with the cool/cold weather.  Give me 30’s and 40’s in temperature I will take it.

What I did yesterday afternoon?  Playing around with the features that came with the camera, Canon Powershot.  Surprised me, this camera does take good pictures.  Here, I took a picture of Cooper, laying on top of the vent with the air conditioning blasting at him.  Yeah, the boys know where to go to cool off.  They three favor that vent the most.

This three pictures I was playing with the aperture and shutter modes without flash.

This is what’s left of the maple tree

DB had the tree and stump removal guys on Friday to cut the tree down.  The Lawrence Tree and Stump Removal guys did a good job cutting the three to pieces just right for us for our firewood. The rest of the tree went into their truck.  The stump will be removed on Monday.  I told DB to leave the stump so it won’t cost us so much money.  Removal of the stump cost more than cutting the tree down.

The side of the bedroom is now much warmer, no more shade from the tree.  And of course it makes the bedroom and the bathroom brighter, morning and mid morning sun baking in.  It would  be nice in the winter, but summer???
