Belated pictures…PW book signing

Comments Off

Wanted to post these pics up earlier but Flickr was not cooperating with me on my PC at home.  Had to wait till today.

After the 5 plus hours of waiting at PW’s book signing, here’s the proof.  I finally have PW’s autograph.  Just too sweet! :)

And here’s MM’s autograph.  Guess I’m too bashful to ask for a picture with him.

Spring pics

My fav flower out on the yard, but DB hates it with a passion.
Photobucket

Yup, it’s the most pain in the ass weed, dandelions. I find them pretty coz I had no idea they were weeds. I remember when I was a kid, I would pick those flowers. Not till I came here, I was told by my dear “gardener”, this dandelions are the toughest to get rid off.

That’s our backyard or more like a moon surface – patchy grass all over.

Crabapple tree flowers, love them each spring.

Here’s is a better view of the patchy backyard with the two limpy boys, Ranger and Chase, chilling

And, finally, the youngest but has to be first all the time.  He sits funny.  When he gets ready to sit, he will put all his weight on his front legs, the hind legs are just like a gymnast doing a hand stand, hind legs hanging in the air, straight out.

It snowed the whole day yesterday from morning through late evening.  I was out for a walk with the three boys, the snow was quite light and temps was 23 degrees, a frigging heat wave.  On my my out to my part time job, it started to snow heavier and the roads were a mess.  Can’t go fast either.  When I got to my driveway after work, I had to maneuver to get to the garage.  Front wheel drive sucks in snow.  There was at least 5 inches of snow on the driveway.  I didn’t shovel the snow either coz the temp dropped to 6 degrees.  Plus DB said he will get her done when he gets home from work.  He didn’t do it coz he got home at 9:45 p.m. and he was beat and the wind was gusty too.

This morning, DB went to work at 4:00 am and I was still sleeping.  Beat myself up for getting up late this morning (7 am).  Had to checked the pics in Facebook coz yesterday was the anniversary luncheon meet with the girls , from my school, Main Convent, graduatedin 1988.  Had enough filled of pics, then vacuumed.  It’s been a long while since I vacuumed.  Dang, my back hurts!  Anyways, that’s good, it’s a form of exercise for me.

I waited till the sun was high then I went out to do the outside chores coz the temp went up to 2 degrees.  The temp this morning when I got up was -12 degrees. Out to the driveway to shovel the driveway so I can get out and come back in after my grocery shopping.

The compacted snow from the tires is what I hate most.  I showeled all the way almost to the end of the driveway, the neighbor directly across the street got his snow blower, cleared the end of his driveway and then he came and did mine.  My intentions was just shovel my side of the driveway and leave the rest for DB to clear it when he gets home.  But the neighbor did the entire driveway for me.  Bless him.  I felt sheepish having him to clear the driveway for me, but DB says the neighbor might have felt bad himself seeing me shoveling the snow instead of using the snow blower.  We do have a snow blower, but I never know how to operate it coz it is so darn heavy.

And this was the patio. I have to clear the white crap coz if not, the boys will drag them into the house. Hate it!  That is Chase in the picture with stick.
Photobucket

And this is me after being in the cold for a couple of hours.  Ice were forming on my eyelashes, time to get inside.

The boys, without a care. Give them a stick, they can be out in the snow the entire day.

Photohunt: Wrinkled

PhotoHunters

This week’s  got me wondering, looking all over the house, closet, office and the car and finally something struck my melon.  There’s always a piece of a wrinkled item in the linen drawer.  Yes, the bedsheets.  Once they come out from the dryer, they are folded and go straight into the drawer and when it’s time to change new sheets, this is what the sheet looks like and no, I don’t iron my sheets.  I’m that lazy.

This week’s Photohunt theme is Colorful.   Here is the picture of the colorful crystal flowers found on the lobby ceiling of the Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas.  Not very good pictures of them but at least I got them for memory sake.

Cloud is this week’s  theme.  It was hard to find the sky with clouds these days, the weather has been so hot, clear blue skies with not a single cloud.  So, I searched through my pictures and found the below picture taken in March of this year.  Spring weather, blue skies with only one patch of cloud in the sky.    I find it kinda cool.  Can you see it?  Have a great weekend y’all.

Photohunt: Hanging

This week’s  theme is Hanging.  Here is a picture of what’s left of the basketball net hanging by itself on the hoop.  This in-ground steel basketball pole, hoop, backboard, and net are as old as the house.  It was installed when the first owners moved-in in 1966.  The net felled apart last year, must be from the weather and wear and tear through the 40+ years.

Happy weekend, folks!

Comments Off

Yeeehah, the weekend is here.  I really like Friday and especially on payday Fridays.  Payday Fridays means no boss, hah, no boss to hawk over me.  I do take advantage when the boss is not around.  The big boss is in but he never bothers me.

Anyhoo, today I went for my First Aid and CPR class.  This class was given free to all employees who wish to learn about First Aid and CPR.  Before I went for this class, I had to take an online class which was 4 hours on the said subject.  After going through the lessons, every participant needs to pass the pre-assessment test at least 80% or higher.  It gives the participants two chances to take the test.  If you didn’t get at least 80% on the first go, you will have the last chance.  I had to take it twice.  I went through my lessons last week and didn’t take the assessment test on Wednesday.  Of course fail lah!!  What I read, heard, saw all forgotten.  Had to go over the lessons again and took the test.  Passed.

The actual CPR class was good.  We used dummies and practice mouth to mouth with a mouth barrier and chest compressions.  The instructor also taught us what needs to be done if there is an actual situation, how to give CPR to an unresponsive and responsive victim, and a choking victim.  We learned the Heimlich maneuverto expel the object from the choking victim.  And of course, some ladies asked what should be done if it was a little kid, a baby.  The maneuvers are certainly differently.  I really hope I don’t have to use it.  It’s a good to know kinda thing and the same goes with CPR. Giving chest compressions (30 compressions for every 2 breaths) is not easy.  Boy, they are tiring.

When I got home, I was late first off, I started playing with the camera again since tomorrow is Photohunt day.  The pictures below were taken with my Canon Powershot using the appeture and shutter speed mode.  I am still learning how to take pictures with the two features.  It seems to take better pictures than in Auto mode.  What you say??  Have a great weekend folks!

Photohunt: What is that

Comments Off

PhotoHunters

The  theme for this week is What is that and I found something that made me wondered initially.  First look, I thought it was a beanie baby.  When I picked it up, there are no beanies in it.  So what is that?

It’s a computer screen cleaner using the belly of the Zebra.

Next, what are the white balls amongst the little hole in the backyard?  Do you know what is that?

Photobucket

Those white looking balls are mothballs.  The vet told us putting mothballs in the patch where the dogs like to dig will stop them from further digging.  It worked for us.

it was a hot one yesterday, at least to me, it is.  Needless to say, the boys don’t get their walks in.  I went outside in the evening to water the plants, I was sweating buckets.  Threw the frisbee for Cooper and Chase and both had their tougues hanging out within seconds.  Today’s temperature will be in the 90′s which means I will get home from work and sit inside til the sun sets.  I’m getting spoiled with the cool/cold weather.  Give me 30′s and 40′s in temperature I will take it.

What I did yesterday afternoon?  Playing around with the features that came with the camera, Canon Powershot.  Surprised me, this camera does take good pictures.  Here, I took a picture of Cooper, laying on top of the vent with the air conditioning blasting at him.  Yeah, the boys know where to go to cool off.  They three favor that vent the most.

This three pictures I was playing with the aperture and shutter modes without flash.

Cooper: Leave me to chill, please!!

Chase, he looks kinda weird here – like in the cartoon.

This is what’s left of the maple tree

DB had the tree and stump removal guys on Friday to cut the tree down.  The Lawrence Tree and Stump Removal guys did a good job cutting the three to pieces just right for us for our firewood. The rest of the tree went into their truck.  The stump will be removed on Monday.  I told DB to leave the stump so it won’t cost us so much money.  Removal of the stump cost more than cutting the tree down.

The side of the bedroom is now much warmer, no more shade from the tree.  And of course it makes the bedroom and the bathroom brighter, morning and mid morning sun baking in.  It would  be nice in the winter, but summer???

Canon back in action

Comments Off

Remember the Canon camera DB bought for me last April which became my favorite toy, and then how it konked out on us when we were on the plane to Malaysia last November?

DB finally sent it to CanonUSA to get it repair since it is still under warranty.  It took 4 days to get to the factory and only 1 day to repair and mailed back to us.   The problem with the camera was the LCD screen.  They replaced the screen and mailed it to us the same day.  Since I received it, the Sony Cybershot is sitting in my bag, in the back burner, as back-her-upper.

So, what did I do this afternoon instead of giving Ranger his weekly bath?  Yep, playing with the Canon again and before that, we were searching high and low for the guide book and finally we found it, I was a happy camper.  Didn’t know this Canon Powershot 630 has so many bells and whistles in that small little thing.

PhotoHunt: Twist(ed)

PhotoHunters

This week the  theme is Twist or Twisted.  I looked all over the house to get a decent picture of something twisted or at least in a form of twist.  DB said there is one standing in front of me which he meant himself.  Yeah, he has one great Twisted mind, alright, but I also want a picture that shows some thing that is truly in a twisted form. Looked high and low, finally DB said, “Here is something for your twisted theme.”  (He is a sport when it comes to blogging material).

PhotoHunt: Twist(ed)

The cables, cords that belonged to his three PCs, printers and phone in his office.  He wanted to tie them up neatly like what he did for my office, but he moved his office around so many times, he didn’t bother with keeping them neat anymore.   I have to say, only he knows which cord/cable belongs to which equipment.

The snow is melting

Disgusting melting snow

The disgusting melted snow in the backyard.  It is so muddy out there and at some parts of the yard with the melted snow, it’s almost ankle deep with water.  Yuck!!!!

melted snow on the backyard

Ugly thing….I want the snow to go real fast since it’s so gross and makes the boys dirty.  It is getting old cleaning them up each time they are out there!

Melting snow in the backyard

Melting snow is the time to pick up doggie piles.  DB was busy picking them piles up when I got home from work.  He even managed to drag the two Mr. Charbroil out.  Time for some queing and smoking of ribs!!!  Yummy!!

Coops and his stick

With the snow melting, a retriever gets busy….looking for his favorite thing to do.  Looking out for sticks to chew them up.

Photobucket

And finally, a clump of cummulus cloud all by itself in the clear blue sky waiting for the 45mph wind to blow it away.  A few more days of clear skies, 49F degrees temps, the snow will be down to nothing.  But….all these snow are going away for the next snow storm that the forecasters are predicting for next week.  DB kept saying that during the NCAA (college basketball championship) tournament, there is always a snow storm. Last year we had about 16 inches of snow and were gone within 2 days.  Will it happen this year?
