Holiday season

Comments Off

Halloween is this weekend, no big deal to me. Then comes Thanksgiving which I’m kinda looking forward to it since we will be receiving our last free turkey from the company. Then the dreaded Christmas holidays. I actually do not like this holiday anymore since it’s so darn commercialized. Nadine has already started her shopping for Christmas. She bought personalized photo ornaments for her mom which are super cool. I really like them. DB and I are not putting up the tree except for our faithful fiber optic mini Christmas tree. It’s cheap and hassle free. There will be no gifts this year either since the man has no job and we are cutting down on our expenses big, big time. Yeah, I’m waiting for Thanksgiving and then will see how Christmas is….probably end up going out to the trails to enjoy the snow!

Fall boots

Comments Off

Fall is definitely here but yet I am not wearing my boots. It is a very big waste that all my boots, fall and winter, are sitting in the closet. I was out to the mall on Friday and saw some really nice womens boots but I am not getting any. This is all due to my custom made orthotics insert I’m wearing for my plantar fasciitis. That insert is pretty much a nuisance when it comes to finding a pair of nice looking shoes or boots.  Boots are definitely out now since a lot of them are too narrow for the inserts.  The boots I own are actually going to Goodwill or Courage Center for donation which will be in good hands.

No go for Mongolian BBQ

Comments Off

Last Friday I posted what I thought DB and I should do for dinner and that is go for Mongolian BBQ.  Well, I scraped that idea totally off even when i was driving home from work.  I had a major headache since noon-ish and it didn’t go away after a few Ibuprofens.  The headache is those pounding ones on the right side where you can actually feel it “pounding”.  For some reason my headaches are always on the right side.  I don’t mind those nagging headaches which I can actually ignore it after a while though it’s still there.  When I got home, DB knew I was not feeling well from my looks.  I thought I was coming down with a bug but nope, not a bug.  I just chilled and he order take out from Green Mill for dinner…..junk food Friday (every other Fridays), remember, so we had to order junk food!  We could have cooked on our own but NO….me want junk food! :)   But that night after my shower, I hit the sack at 9 p.m and was out in a heart beat.  I think the headache was due to sleep deprivation.  So, hopefully next week Friday we will give BD’s a go again.

No weight gain

Comments Off

Wow, I’m really surprised I have not gained weight from all the baking I did. In fact I lost some. The walks I do 3 times a day whether is a turtle slow or fast walk helps to burn fat! DB is the one who really need the best fat burning exercises from all the artery clogging food I have been dishing out! Though he is not complaining, I’m actually cutting down or subsituting some artery clogging ingredient with a more heart friendly one.   Taste wise not too bad.  But to me, the heavy duty ones tastes so good.  Plus I’m not gaining any weight from them!  I’m just into eating these days.  Seriously, I cannot believe how much I eat for dinner.  Hah, but just wait, missy, age will catch up and I will have to slow down! :)

I’m heartless

Comments Off

What do you say to someone when he/she is suspended from work?

You would feel bad, right?

Yeah, I do feel bad, but I now look at the circumstances behind it first.  Don’t want to judge that person either, just listen to the reason from he/she.   However, deep in me, silently saying, ”Good job!” repeatedly.

See,  I’m super heartless!

Lazy blues

Comments Off

These past few weeks I’m constantly wanting to sleep. Every one at work says it’s the cooler weather. I guess so. However, in my case I’m not getting enough sleep. The thought of walking the dogs just pisses me off. I tired and just wish I can let them out the door and have them do their business without having to put the collars and leashes on. I want to spend more time doing my stuff, do some phenphedrine reviews, finish up some sewing, and most of all watch some movies. So yeah, I will blame the weather for giving me this lazy blues in me!

No new PC for a while

Comments Off

Did I ever mention that our house is semi unpacked? Yeah, I think it will be that way for a while. The man of the house is too darn not into moving stuff. When he wants to move furniture his helper hurt himself. I wanted DB to move his temporary office from the dining room to his office upstairs which is, again, halfway setup. He has his two computers, printer/scanner/fax plus the his must have item, the TV already put up so I thought it’s about time he makes use of that office. But I guess it won’t happen for a while since he needs a good strong helper to move the credenza and cabinets up a flight of steps. For sure it’s not me. For now he is using his laptop which I use it quite often when I’m in the mood to bake….save on paper, I refer to the recipes online.  I have my own computer upstairs in the den which is also super slow.  I told DB I need a new one or maybe looking into a Notebook or a Macbook.  This fella looked at me as if I’m nuts.  I know, we already have too many PC’s and laptops in our house, not forgetting we have one dinosaur age Compaq sitting somewhere in the garage.  He said he would rather get more memory cards for my computer to speed her up than buying a new one for now.

Sewing mojo

Comments Off

Since I am in the sewing mode these days, I will probably sew up some fleece sweats for myself and DB.  All of DB’s heavier cotton sweatpants have holes in them.  He said they are so thin they are not warm anymore.  Hence that fella wants me to sew some up for him.  He wants fleece which I have but is enough for one pair.  Since Joan is having sales on all fabric types, I will have to make a trip there this weekend to shop around.  I hope I remember to sew pants again, not just usual sweat pants, this fella wants pockets with them!

Sewing for charity

Comments Off

Yes, that’s what I’m going to do with all the fabric scraps.  They are either too small to make blankets, sweatpants or clothes.  I have a lot of fleece fabric – anti-peel mostly which I will make baby shoes and baby blankets for church.  Our church has a donation drive for these items.  These items will be donated to the less fortunate people, shelters mainly.  Moreover I am suppose to sign up for some kind of participation in whatever ministries the church has and I could not figure out what and where I want to serve.  So, I hope doing this sewing project will do for now.

Weekend is here

Comments Off

Yes, can’t wait for Friday and it’s finally Friday!! Friday I don’t have to rush to get to bed by 9:30 latest. I can putz around and go to bed later. Saturday and Sunday and I sleep in till 5:30 coz that the boys will not let me sleep past that. Their body clocks are so accurate it’s unbelievable. Saturday, day for me to shop and this Saturday I actually have to shop for wrinkle eye creams. I have not been using eye cream for many months and it’s super duper dry now. Yes, wrinkles galore under my eyes. This Saturday too will be my first going for Sacrament of Reconciliation…in order words Confession.  I have not gone for one since baptism on Easter Virgil (April).  Time to fess up! :)   Then Sunday is cooking day for the week and continuation of cleaning the house.  So the only thing I look forward to on a weekend is sleeping in.  The rest of the chores are not what I want to do at all, well with the exception of going to the mall.

Golden yellow leaves. Pics taken at work in the afternoon. I tried to take the same pics in the morning with the sun basking on the trees, but not successful. So have to make do with these afternoon shots.  Took these shots from the 3rd floor as you can see my reflection!  Have always love looking out the window on a nice fall day, hardly any wind and the leaves are still on the trees!

Nice to have

Comments Off

I went to Nadine’s yesterday evening just to check out her new hot tub cover. Actually both she and Mark asked DB and I over for a dinner and soak in their brand spanking new hot tub. DB got home late, so I went alone instead. Nothing fancy for dinner which I told them so but the fun of soaking in the hot tub was lovely. It has been a long time since I last had that good warm soak in a cool evening/night. This will be one and only hot tub soak for now since both her and Mark will be gone this whole winter.

Benefits open enrollment

Comments Off

My clinic sent me a reminder for a vitamin D count blood test.  I have to call the clinic to set the appointment up.  I think I will pass on that.  Even though I am done paying that clinic/hospital bill last month, I have enough of visiting doctors for this year….knock on wood.  During my annual physical, the doctor tested me with very low vitamin D count.  She said I need to pump it up with supplements or get a plenty of SUN!!!  The sun??  No way.  So I resorted to taking supplements and I am guessing the count will go up in due time.  One of the reason why i do not want to pay the clinic another visit is due to the out of pocket I have to pay for that visit even after the $40 co-pay.  I wish I had bought one of thouse affordable health insurance online which is way better than the one I have now with the company.

The company’s open benefits is around the corner.  I am still weighing on the company’s medical or stick on with DB’s medical coverage from his company.  His is more of a fix “package”, unlike mine, I can “build” my own medical and RX insurance coverage.  I went cheap so I got the higher deductible.  The lower the deductible, the higher my premium is for both of us which was almost $500+ per pay check (bi-monthly).  It’s certainly too much and can’t afford it.

DB said we could always look for full coverage health insurance with other companies as what his co-worker, J, did.  J’s daughter has cerebral palsy and makes constant visits to the hospital physical therapies and other medical conditions that are associated with her condition.  With this extra health insurance coverage and in addition to the medical insurance converage he has with their company, he said he very well covered.  He does not have to pay anything out of his pocket except co-pays.   J did have to do a lot of homework to look for a health insurance with pre existing conditions, like what his daughter has.  The medical insurance he has with the company he and DB work at does not cover any pre existing conditions.

With that said, this year’s open enrollment I will have to look into “building” a package that will cover the basics and look outside for extra coverage.  We never know when we need it.  Anything can happen at anytime.

The grumpy dog

Comments Off

0724000958a.jpg

That’s the grumpy boy, Ranger. We hardly ever see him “smile” like Cooper or Chase.  The only time he will ever “smile” is when we get home from work or just about anywhere and on his walks.  The rest of the time, he looks just like that picture.   He reminds me of a Big Boss Mafia.  This dog still has his allergies but is under control with his meds which we actually have been cutting down on the dosage.  We notice he is itching less in or outside the house.  It is more significant when he is in the house where he will be happily laying on the tiles in the entryway and no itching at all.  We think it was the old house where there was mold on the window seals and most probably somewhere else.  Since this dog is allergic to everything except cotton and synthetics, this house is treating him better – newer windows and basically the house is newer and everything was “freshen” up before we moved in.

What to do with vacation hours

Comments Off

I have 70+ of vacation hours left to day and the end of the year is not even here yet.  I can carry 40 hour over to next year but I don’t even know if I should carry them over since I have no plans of going anywhere, yet!  DB has 7 days off on the week of Thanksgiving.  He thought of going deer hunting with a friend but is unsure of going now since the friend is injured.  I told he could go on his own…give  him the freedom to do whatever he wants and me too!! :D   If my boss allows me to take the 3 days before Turkey day and Monday and Tuesday off the following week, that would be great.  I might sit home and do sew sewing projects.
