My clinic sent me a reminder for a vitamin D count blood test. I have to call the clinic to set the appointment up. I think I will pass on that. Even though I am done paying that clinic/hospital bill last month, I have enough of visiting doctors for this year….knock on wood. During my annual physical, the doctor tested me with very low vitamin D count. She said I need to pump it up with supplements or get a plenty of SUN!!! The sun?? No way. So I resorted to taking supplements and I am guessing the count will go up in due time. One of the reason why i do not want to pay the clinic another visit is due to the out of pocket I have to pay for that visit even after the $40 co-pay. I wish I had bought one of thouse affordable health insurance online which is way better than the one I have now with the company.
The company’s open benefits is around the corner. I am still weighing on the company’s medical or stick on with DB’s medical coverage from his company. His is more of a fix “package”, unlike mine, I can “build” my own medical and RX insurance coverage. I went cheap so I got the higher deductible. The lower the deductible, the higher my premium is for both of us which was almost $500+ per pay check (bi-monthly). It’s certainly too much and can’t afford it.
DB said we could always look for full coverage health insurance with other companies as what his co-worker, J, did. J’s daughter has cerebral palsy and makes constant visits to the hospital physical therapies and other medical conditions that are associated with her condition. With this extra health insurance coverage and in addition to the medical insurance converage he has with their company, he said he very well covered. He does not have to pay anything out of his pocket except co-pays. J did have to do a lot of homework to look for a health insurance with pre existing conditions, like what his daughter has. The medical insurance he has with the company he and DB work at does not cover any pre existing conditions.
With that said, this year’s open enrollment I will have to look into “building” a package that will cover the basics and look outside for extra coverage. We never know when we need it. Anything can happen at anytime.
