A search engine for businesses

31 July 2007

Some companies are keen on looking to other companies to get more sales or searching for vendors for their business.  This is where masterseek comes in.  Masterseek is a search engine for businesses to search for other businesses’ information where it will be quicker for them to hunt down a supplier or customer.  This website will provide the user businesses located around the globe.

What a surprise!

31 July 2007

The boys scared the crap outta me yesterday afternoon.  They saw the mailman parked his truck across the street.  I was making coffee for the next day and I literary jumped when they barked at the mailman.  When I turned around, I saw the hair on their backs all standing up and so was their tails, growling.  Walked over to the front door and the mailman rang the door bell.  I saw this big parcel and saw Singapore Post.  Right away I knew I got food from my sister!!!  Yehhhhhh!!!!  Ain’t she nice??  She is just swell!!

Opened up the parcel and read her note first.  She wants to thank me for getting her clothes from Victoria’s Secret.  In return, she sent me “fertilizers”.  She thinks I’m too skinny!! :)  Dielah, gotta buy more new clothes :)
Here are the items in the parcel:

-  Instant noodles.  She knows how much I love instant noodles.  Lazy man’s cooking.

-  A St Michael’s shirt for DB which he loves it.  Great color.  He said “Yes! Thank you very much….”

-  The Asian style potato chips.  Opened it right away.

-  2 boxes of organic cookies from St Michael’s.  Didn’t try that yet.  I was too busy with the others.  DB took them to work this morning.  He said they were very good.

-   A bottle of chilie shrimp paste.  Can’t wait to stink up the house!

-  Couple packets of instant spices.  Another lazy man’s way of cooking.

-  A bag of plums, the chinese kind.  Always brings back a lot of memories of the old chinese medical halls in Ipoh.

-   A big bag of chillied tapioca chips.  DB’s favorite.  He said don’t even open it if not they will be gone.

-  A big bag of stinky smelly chewy sotong (cuttle fish or squid as the Americans call it).  So good.  DB told me not to go near him when I  eat them things.

-  Another big bag of the stinky cuttle fish.  This type has sugar on them.  Oh, man, I missed eating them.  I chomped them down but, of course, not the whole bag.  Gotta leave some for some other day.

-  Last and the best of all is this chewy, stinky, smelly cuttle fish.  I remember buying them in satay sticks.  This bag is just full of this sticky thing without the fuss of the satay sticks.   I ate this the most.  Almost half the content were gone.

Of course my dinner was really light.  I was actually full when it came to dinner.  DB asked if I want some ice-cream for dessert, I had to say no to him.  I was already stuffed.

The boys had some share, too, but not the sugary ones.  Dogs are dogs, they eat anything, but I still refuse to give them anything with sugar.

They sniffed out the entire parcel before I could even opened it.  Then they laid on each side of the parcel.  Once it was opened, they both got up and had to sniffed out each item.  I had to push them out of the way but I thought why not test them if they will try mawing them bags.  I let them sniffed and they used their snouts to move the packets around.  It took about a good 3-4 minutes waiting for them to snoop.  My patience was like about to burst!  They didn’t grab any of the bags.  All they did was snooped.  Good job.  I opened up the first bag - Malaysian style potato chips……..mhmmmmmm, yummy.  All the memories of back home.

A fire cracker subject turned into a subject on babies!!!

30 July 2007

I guess I am really a fire cracker.  DB said I am one fiery one.  I’m mighty hot-tempered.  My fuse is so short, it can explode within seconds and my patience is, you know the answer.

I am the above because that’s what my “mentor” said about me, too.  Not just DB, my mentor said I’m super short fused; a friend of mine, who is a Filipino, said the same thing.  Outsiders are the best judges.

When I think about all these - about my fiery temper, I do feel bad.  Can I say I take on my mom since I looks and acts like her so much?  Come to think of it, my dad was a hot-tempered person, too, when I was younger.  He has since mellowed so much from the days I was still in school to the day I left the family home 11 years ago.

The funny thing is all of them said if I had a kid, it would tame me hell a lot.  I don’t think so, I told each of them.  The kid would be dead before he/she could see the world.  DB, of course, said “That would not happen with me around” and he gave me that killer look.

The best was this conversation I had with my “mentor”.  She said I should have a kid to change my perspective in life, I will be smarter, I won’t take things for granted, my don’t-give-a-damn-attitude will change to the opposite, learn to care for others, and I will learn to accept patience.

Maybe it’s true it will change me but for now, I’m just gonna try lengthening the fuse a little at a time.  My “mentor” asked me this question since she knows I have no relatives in this country.  ”Aren’t you afraid to be alone when DB’s gone, who’s gonna take care of you?”  I told her, I don’t know the answers to her these questions.  Probably I will leave it into God’s hands.

Right now, I will take care of my imperfections first.

Thought for the Day

27 July 2007

I got this from DB’s niece:

Handle every situation like a dog would.
If you can’t eat it or screw it,
Piss on it and walk away!

Have a fabulous weekend, folks!

Friday, let me outta here!

27 July 2007

Do you have those days where you don’t want to talk to anyone, want them to leave you alone and to mind yours and theirs own business?

I don’t want to be at work right now, don’t want to do anything because I’m throwing out all the negativity in me on everything I do and touch!!!

I have work to do now.  The HRIS reports came in yesterday afternoon about an hour before I hit the road.  Been here since 6 this morning and I have not done anything except read emails, news, blogs, check for any paid post and my checking account (pay day today, that’s a plus) and try to mess around with my domain php files.  No freaking clue what all these php files are and how to add codes or scripts to my WP template, or widgets.  Guess what I will be doing this weekend??

Got done yepping with my “mentor”.  Bullshit about everything and bitched what my manager sent her.   Then again, she preached that DB and I should go to church and pray.

“Let the good Lord guide you.”

OK, we will get right on it this Sunday!

S’pose I better get back to my reports since I only have 3.5 hours to go?

My online business

26 July 2007

DB and I were talking about how we should get rid of our books that we have accumulated through the years.  I have actually brought the books I had from Malaysia when I moved to the United States.  I know, it’s crazy, but I can’t seem to depart them, however, now that I have even more of them since I came here, it is time to dispose off the books I have once cherised dearly.  These books can be sold second hand and we can definitely make a profit from selling them.

I saw a website where one can sell online by getting an ecommerce software like Ashop Commerce.  Ashop Commerce is a website where it will provides you a total answer to your needs to start an online business.  With this said, Ashop Commerce has a shopping cart software that presents the user flexibility and reliabity.  It has features like where you can built your own web pages to your own liking, or encrypted checkout page.

You do not need to have HTML knowledge on how to set the shopping cart software.  All you need is just an hour or two to download your inventory.  Ashop Commerce will provide you the set up with free technical support should you need it.  All you need to pay is just the fee you choose on which package you want and a one start up fee.

Painless way of winning prizes

26 July 2007

I have never heard of Sweepstake till I came to United States.  I have signed up for many sweepstakes but never did win anything.  Instead, all of these sweepstakes’ companies sent me flyers to make a purchase.  To be honest, I did buy some from them because they are too tempting.

Bid4prizes has a different type of sweepstake for anyone who is interested to win prizes.  To play this sweepstakes, all you need is just register and enter your cell-phone number.  To bid for the prizes, click on the desired prize item, enter your cell phone number and the amount of bid you want to bid.  The lowest bid is a penny.  Each lowest bid is unique.  Say for example if more then a person bid for a penny, it will no longer become a unique bid.  It will become 2 cents and that is the lowest unique bid.  This wonderful game always has a new winner everyday.   The prizes you can win range from Apple I-Phone, HDTV, designer bags, SCION Xbox to other cash prizes

In addition to winning prizes, you get free gifts, too.  These free gifts are exchanged by how many points you have gained from bidding.

Refinancing with a VA Loan

26 July 2007

OK, this is not a sponsored post.  Sure sounds like it, though :)
Anyways, we started our paperwork for refi last month.  Actually earlier than that.  We checked out several banks but all that we contacted said we need to pay the penalty because of our current mortgage which is an ARM and locked at 9.3%.  Yeah, super duper high, and that’s why we are desperately trying to refi as soon as possible.  The penalty is 3%.  No way, ho-se!

DB’s co-worker gave him a mortgage consultant who deals with VA loans.  DB jumped at it since with the VA, we can get a loan at 6.75%.  Beats the crap out of 9.3%

The process began last month and all the fuss having to deal with the VA (for DB since he is the veteran) and writing dispute letters to the credit bureaus to rectify our credit history, and paying off a judgement that was 3 years old (I hated that, but what to do, got to get r’ done).

Other paperwork were the same old W2s, pay stubs, 401K statements, asset statements, driver licenses, my PR card, DB’s VA certificate of eligibity and whatever DD2 something form, bankruptcy forms, and more stuff on our bankruptcy filing.  I should get use to all these paperpwork.  Can’t remember how many times I have been through this!

Mailed all these stuff in on Monday and we are now waiting for the closing day, August 24.  Can’t wait to have a little smaller mortage to pay every month.  At least we will have some extra spending money instead of scrambling for it.

29 more days to close and counting down.

YES!!!

Final paper fi-ni-to!

25 July 2007

Am I glad this paper is done.  This final paper needs to be 8-11 pages and should consists of 1/3 from textbook readings, 1/3 project work, 1/3 class lectures, and 1/3 video summaries.  I think I got all in.  I had a jump start on this paper on Sunday night but didn’t really get it going til Monday night.  I am, according to my colleague, a typical college student, always work on their papers at the very last minute.  For the past couple of nights I didn’t get to bed til 11 p.m. and the beautiful zits are popping all over my face.  I never had that many for the longest time.  No problem, at least I got the paper done last night, busting my butt to summarize the chapters I was suppose to read.  In other words, I’m bullshitting my way around.  I’m just glad that the instructor wanted his students to write about our work experience in the business world.  I was able to write 10.5 pages of BS last night.  Sorry, Simmie, I had to cut you off from our conversation.

What am I suppose to do tonight since all I need to do is to drop the paper off at school and come home?  Watch DVDs!!!  I have 11 movies on queue at Blockbuster online.  I have already initiated them to mail two movies last night while working on my paper.  Obviously my mind was not totally focusing on my paper.  Frankly, I lost interest in this class.  My colleague who is sorta my mentor, who I call Ms MBA, said summer classes will do that to students.

August 1 is officially the last day of class.  That is the day we students have to go to class and get our grades.  Final papers will remain with the instructor for good as they will go to the dean of the business faculty.

Yippy-ka-yah!! Classes are almost over, and so is summer!!!

Boys

22 July 2007

The boys, my furry alarm clocks.  During the weekends or on my days off in the week, they will come sit next to the bed, their face staring right onto mine.

This is practically what I see when I opened my eyes.

And…..beg for food.

What a life….

On another note, Cooper has been limping for couple of months now.  When we took him in to see the vet for their annual, he was doing fine….limpless.  Four months later, he is limping.  We suspect hip dsyplasia, very common for Labs.  He doesn’t seem to be in pain coz if he is in pain, he will be whining, coz he is a whiner since we brought him home 7+ years ago.  I have been giving him his glucosamine twice a day, looks like it’s helping a little, but this dog loves to play with his frisbee.  I will throw or sometimes he will just pick up the frisbee on his own and shake the frisbee like a ragdoll while doing the “rodeo”.  He thinks he is a bull :)

Ranger’s itching is better since we pumped him with pred since late February with smaller dosage till spring came in full force, we increased his dosage to 10 mg/day.  He now has a mind of his own when he’s on steroids.  We tried reducing his dosage to give his body a break, but he was itching up a storm.  We did let him itch for a few days, and he was just miserable.  He would look at us with those puppy eyes, ”What did you guys did to me?” We put him back on 10 mg a day and he’s a happy camper, however, we need to watch for signs of Cushing disease, very common for dogs on steroids.

Online File Sharing

19 July 2007

I am a person who like to share files with my friends and family.  My files consists of pictures, professional written letters on their behalf, music files and between hubby and I, our personal financial stuff.  Think about it, some of these picture and music files are huge in size and take a long time to send the email across.  A great way to share them hassle free is via online file sharing.

Driveway is a unique free web base service for online file sharing.  It has a desktop widget which allows you to edit your files on one click, unlike the old ways where you have to save the document to your computer and email to your recipient.  Driveway saves time and it’s free.  You can upload multiple files at a time and what is nice is it allows up to 500MB per file.  Very neat and slick.

What a quinkie dink

19 July 2007

I was busy chatting online with Simmie this morning and all of a sudden, my Gmail inbox total mail changed to a different digit.  Well, lets see who sent me what.  The subject on the emai was Hello fren…  Mhmm, I thought it was spam but then I saw the sender.  Hey that’s my friend back from Standard One, I think?

It turned out Mommy to Little Chumsy is my friend’s sister.  I just had nothing to do one evening and registered with MyBlogLog.  I think saw it at Simple America’s blog.  I didn’t even notice that Mom to Little Chumsy has that banner (I think that’s what you called it?) on her blog to see who last visited her blog.  My friend saw my pic out there and bingo, she found me, just like that.

Out of the topic, I wanted to put the MyBlogLog on my blog but there were no instructions for WP users on how to add the script to my blog, or I’m just not techie enough to figure it out.   So, I will have to go the old fashion way: login to MyBlogLog and view from there.

Anyways, nice to hear from you, my fren! :)

It’s done and over with!

19 July 2007

We had our team presentation last night.  What a disaster that was.  I think of all the team presentations that I have done since I started college, this was the worse team presentation ever.  That team member who has not done any of his homework yet, nor the preparation for the presentation and said he wants an “A” for this class, made our team presentation so tacky with pieces of papers falling off the board.  It was embarrassing.  I wanted to dig a deep hole and hide in there for the duration of the presentation.  If I have known he was going to put up pieces of paper on the board, I would have made up PowerPoint slides.

After the presentation, the team members were given the opportunity to critic the team and, of course, I bombard my frustrations on that team member.  The other team member did the same.  I really hope I get an “A”, and that’s all it matters, a “B” is the minimum.

How would you feel if….

17 July 2007

….. your boss does not like your appearance?

….. your boss does not like the way you walk?

….. your boss thinks you walk too slow?

….. your boss does not like you as a person?

….. your boss does not like the way you talk?

…. your boss does not like the way you schedule appointments?

….. your boss does not like how you perform your job?

…. your boss finds any minute faults to stir up some good shit to burn your ass?

….. your boss keeps writing you up for the above?  Not once, but twice.

….. your boss wants to control your every movement?

Why don’t the boss just say it out loud - “I don’t like you.”

That boss is asking for trouble.  Did he go over the papers with HR before he wrote you up?  I don’t think so.  Because if he did, HR would have caught a lot of the above.  They are great ingredients for a good lawsuit case.  Hostile environment, race discrimination, American Disability Act and there are a few more which I will leave it for now.

My answer to all of the above is go the Dept of Human Rights!!  File a lawsuit against that stinky B.Oed. scumbag, and make the company pay.

Another night of restless sleep.

Check out Smorty

16 July 2007

I have found a new advertiser where I can blog for money.  It is call Smorty.  Smorty is a place where bloggers like me can write about the opinion of a product.  Before I started blogging I was wondering how I can increase my chances on how to get paid for blogging.  A fellow blogger told me about Smorty and I am glad I signed up with this network.  It is a place where you place your blog advertising for the advertiser in writing.  Before I started to blog for money, I was quite skeptical if I can really write for an advertiser, however after writing a few posts, I gained my confidence and seeing the money rolling in to my bank account was the booster.
