The sky busted opened

Comments Off

With all these rain, every one at work said they had enough.  “Bring the hot, sunny summer days back.”  “No more rain.”  That’s what they said.  I’m so sick of them complaining about the weather.  When the state was in a draught, they complain because of global warming.  Rain was scattered across the state, the Cities, zippo.

“No rain, my yard is so dry and my poor flowers.”

“We need the rain really bad.”

“The weather for the past couple years has been crazy.  No rain and not much snow.”

For me, I want the rain because its free watering for the yard and flowers.  The rain cools off the hot 80s and 90s that we had for so many months with no relieve.

Now that the sky opened up, I welcomed the rain.  Makes me lazier and not want to do anything, but I deserve those days!!

All these credit card offers

Comments Off

I have never received so many offers from these credit card companies.  All of these companies offer 0% on balance transfers, some with a couple or 0% on purchases, or some with 16.8% APR and some higher.

Between DB and I we have couple credit card that are secured and unsecured.  If we want to apply for a credit card we might try MINT Credit Cards.  They are offering 0% on balance transfers until October 1, 2008 with a 2.5% balance transfer fee, and the APR is quite low, too, 14.9%.  I have to say that is a good rate and with a high credit limit, that’s awsome deal.  Besides, the company also offers these fine incentives like 0% on purchases until March 1, 2008, 0% bonus offer till June 1, 2009 on balances transferred during December 2008, free online account management with the capability of downloading your statments and email or text alerts, no annual fee,  and global recognition wherever you see the Mastercard logo.

Credit cards, they are so convenient.

Free Links Contest

Comments Off

I was blog hopping to Trinity‘s this evening and saw this post about Kassper who is holding a contest to give out a ton of linky love to your site.

Here is how to do it.  You write a short review of his site and link once to his blog.  He writes about how to Make Money Online on his blog.  In addition to that, you need to link once to any of his posts.  There a lot of great posts with wonderful tips on his blog.  The one that caught my attention  was Improve Alexa Ranking with Alexa.   And what do we get from this is 50 backlinks to your blog.  That is very neat to bring in more traffic to your blog.

Pretty easy to get free links, huh?  I am not really sure how it’s gonna work, but I’m giving it a try.

I pretty much figured it will be PG or R-rated for my blog.  All I can say is that this blog is so not suited for kids.

Under the sink

Guess what I found this evening?  Since we moved in these buggers were there all the time and in the garage.  Sometimes we find them in the laundry room behind the refrigerator, in the basement.

These buggers are…………………..

That mouse is still alive.  When I moved the trash bucket and the packet of dish scrubers, that thing looked at me, moved its tail, but can’t escape.

DB bought these Stick ‘Ems which worked really good.  About 24 hours, the mouse will be dead.   I feel bad when I see it laying there.  It’s funny, when I don’t see it and DB told me the traps are loaded with mice, I’m ok.

I hope I don’t get to see this again….yeah, fat chance.  Now I know why the former owners had 2 cats in the house.

Wish I had this when I was a kid doing math

Comments Off

Why didn’t Math come easy for me when I was a kid?  I remember hating Math; tuition lessons were helpful, but they were not as intuitive as Math Tutors.  My boss’ grand-kids are pros at math.  Thanks to Score Learning Centers, her two granddaughters works on math quizzes with little effort.  It teaches the students problem solving skills and build their confidence by using an interactive approach to learn.  It helps the child to stay engaged and each individual child has his/her own customizedprogram.  What is nice about this program is it also offers one-on-one assistance if the child needs it.  This way it will assist with instant progress.  The center helps the child to understand the fundamental math skills that he/she will take with him/her forever.

This is right to the T.  I did a different personality test for my business class, too, and the results came back quite similar to this.  I know I am a low key person and still is, but Db thinks I’m not.  Hhmmmm.  Have to figure that out.

Office gossips

Comments Off

Ellie return from her summer vacation to Europe with her hubby.  We welcomed her back this morning.  She was gone for 2 weeks and one of our coworkers were already talking behind her back.  The first thing I over heard was, “She must had a great holiday, great food.”  So they are being snidely to say that Ellie put on some weight during her trip.  I guess that’s what holidays are for, right? - relax and enjoy yourself?

This lady, who really talks super loud, even though she was “whispering” to her subordinate, said that Ellie needs diet pills to help her lose some weight, and something to keep her weight off.  This is really what I hate to hear.  Someone telling you what to do with your life.  I should have got up and told her maybe she is the one who really needs it.  I cannot wait for this lady to retire end of the year so I do not have to listen to her anymore.   I sits directly outside her office.  It’s pretty close, fall is almost here.

Our car insurance

Comments Off

Owning my own set of wheels was like freedom!!  It means I can go anywhere I want and where I want, but of course I have to let DB know where I’m going which I usually do because most of the time he will give me directions on how to get there.  That was when I first got my license.

I bought my Monte in Rochester and before we went to Domaille Auto Dealers, DB contacted AdvantageAutoQuotes.com to quote insurance auto for my new wheels.  Since his policy is with them, he thought it would be better if I sign up my policy with them.  They offer affordable rates for all policies no matter how bad your driving record is.  The representative told us that using AdvantageAutoQuotes.com, will lower your car/SUV insurance.  This is really what we want.  They do all the work to look for the most competitive insurance rates for us.

Since I am not familiar with these insurance policies stuff, DB took care of it with the representative who got back to us promptly.  Purchasing both our vehicles with the same insurance company gives better car insurance rates for us.  They offer a wide selection of auto policies and low prices.  We have no regrets contacting them for our auto insurance.

The Importance of Annual Physical

Comments Off

I have a friend whom I met during my days at the travel company.  She was a temp working for the wicked witch of the West, and she was the one who taught me so much about the difference between British and American formal correspondence.  She was also the one who came and got me during my episode with the cop.  Actually she was there for me more than once.  I had no one to call or talk to, I went to her.  She and her hubby retired several years ago and sold their city home and moved into their cabin on Lake Mil Lacs, about 1.5 hours to Brainard, I think.  Before Minnesota tundra weather arrives they hopped into their mobile home and drive south to Oklahoma and Texas.  I think they go somewhere else, but can’t remember.

I received an email from her couple of weeks ago and told me how her summer was going.  She usually sends me updates on what’s going on and vice versa.  Then she told me she had breast cancer.  Her doctor found a lump on her right breast during her annual checkup.  She had the lump of a golfball size removed and took some tissue and lymph nodes for more testing at the University of MN.  They all came back negative.  Good news.  The doc didn’t have to remove her breast.  She has to go for her radiation therapy every day (M-F) in Brainard for 5-6 weeks.  At least she doesn’t have to go through chemo.  Annual physical is so crucial.  I’m so glad the doc found the lump on time.

I wish you well, Ruthie.

BIL’s basement flooded

Comments Off

All the rain we had since Friday and still raining as I’m writing this, BIL’s basement was drowned with water.  The sump pump could not keep up with all the rain.  He got up at around 1 am on Sunday morning to take a leak and hear noises in downstairs.   As soon as he walked down the stairs he heard water and knew what that was.  Their brand new refurbished basement flooded with water.  He is now wondering if he needs to get a truck rack to haul all the stuff out from the basement to his daughter’s place.   I know for sure he had his son and son in-law tore up the carpet on Sunday morning.  They still have to remove those brand new leather sofa, entertainment center and all the accompanying gadgets he bought 3 months ago.  So sad.  Some of the counties south of the Twins Cities are flooded, 6 people died and the rain is still coming down.

LAPBands

Comments Off

The rate of obesity in America is rising.  I have see men and women who are grotesquely obese at work and outside of work.  A lady I used to work with when I was working with the recruiting team was about 220 pounds on a five foot frame.  She is a little short than me and she was round.  I don’t want to be mean, but I told my coworker she need to do something with her weight as she is constantly out of breath.  Two months passed and I did not see this lady at her office.  Her subordinate told me she is on short term disability.  Boy, what happened?  I didn’t ask.

When she came back months later, she was like my size.  The subordinate I talked to told me she went for a lapband surgery.  Lapband surgery is a way to  help extremely overweight individuals to lose their excess weight.  By losing the extra weight, he/she will significantly improve their health.

Journey Lite, located at Tampa – FL, LA - CA, and Houston – TX, dedicated in this surgical procedure.  This procedure will decrease the stomach’s capacity and also limit the amount of food consumed during meal times.

The surgery is done by making tiny openings and inserting special long- shafted instruments to wrap the inflatable band around the upper part of the stomach.  The lapband is tie around the upper stomach that creates a new stomach pouch and the band is locked in a ring around the stomach.  Since the stomach pouch is smaller, it will hold less food and makes the individual feel fuller quickly.

I was very impressed with her weight loss success and I have also seen another former coworker of mine who had this procedure done.  Those who are morbidly obese should at consider this procedure, however, as a reminder, medical insurance do not cover for this surgical procedure.   Checkout Journey Lite if you want to change your life.

Yeehahh, my comments are showing up on my blog without channelling to Comments in Moderation.  I was messing around with the Options feature last night but not sure what I did, but I know I didn’t do anything different than when I started this new blog.  It’s a relief to see comments in my email now instead of having to login to my blog, and approve the comments.

Medical gadgets

Comments Off

There are a lot of stuff I have not heard of in the medical field up until DB was hospitalized.  One of the things that the nurses hooked him up was a pulse oximeter.  What it does is it measures the amount of oxygen in his blood.  The funny thing was he kept pulling it out and the measurements were wrong and the beeper would go off.  After they wheeled him to the ICU, they thought with constant hawk view of the nurses, he would not pull it off, but nope, he did.  After the third time, the nurse clipped in on his right big toe.  It was hilarious seeing his foot covered with the blanket except for his big toe.  Oh well, I can laugh about it now but back then, I was worried sick.

Lazy damp Saturday

Comments Off

My furry alarm clock woke me up at 15 to 6 this morning.  I really didn’t want to but then I thought since it’s going to rain soon, I should get my lazy bones up and go for my walk.  If I don’t, I will be bitching at myself later.

Went and came back from the hiking trails, picked up dog poop and it rained and is still raining.  I didn’t feel like doing anything today.  I thought of going to the post office and to the Asian store, nope, didn’t do her.  Instead, I plopped my lazy butt on the couch and watch “Hannibal Rising” and “The Shooter“.  All these movies from Blockbuster online.  Damn convenient.  No late fees and as soon as they receive the one I mailed, I receive the next movie on my queue.  “Hannibal” was good.  I could watch it again.  “The Shooter”, this is the second time I watched it.  Another great movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times.

After the movie, what did I do?  Snoozed for 2 hours.  Again, my furry alarm clock woke me up.  DB fed them and I made dinner, showered and remembered I have assignments due.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring.  The thought of vacumming really sucks.  Might make a trip to the Asian store, or get a hold of Simmie.
