Home improvements

Comments Off

Majority of home owners have the thought of adding value to their homes.   Home improvements like adding energy efficient windows or doors will also help with their tax deduction at the end of the year. While driving to work or just simply for the sick of seeing posh homes, I have seen homes that have a Conservatory for their garden, and some add it as a place to relax where they can enjoy the seasons all year long.  Adding a conservatory definitely adds a huge amount to the home value.  It truly gives the home a face-lift.  Besides conservatories, there is a home I saw where the owners converted their garage to an extra living space.  That home is huge though.  They can add on additional rooms or beautify the house with casement or sash windows.   Anglan Home Improvements will be able to assist you for the home improvements you need.

When are we refinancing?

Comments Off

We were suppose to refi last month, to be exact the 25th.  It didn’t work out.  The loan rep we were dealing with got a call from the underwriter 2 days before the 25th and told him we cannot refi 100% with a VA loan.  Now, what kind of a loan office is he who did not do any of his homework and have the guts to tell us he is the person to go to with VA refi.  Bull pucky!!

We made a million calls to him and the bank, and conference calls with him and the bank too.  No luck.  He sent us 3 proposals which we turned down.  Not what we want.  DB called him in the evening of the 23rd, no response and no return calls.  We were so fed up with this guy, I told DB to cancel the deal.  This guy called the next day and told us he will try to make a deal for us, and we told him, sorry dude, deals over.

Currently we are dealing directly with the bank.  Much easier for a conventional loan.  Cannot use VA for refi.  If we were to buy a house, yes, we can.  The paperwork for this conventional loan is going, DB is doing most of the phone calls.  Poor guy, he is just so stressed out.  He is going through the huge pile of paperwork the bank sent and if we agrees to it, we need to sign them and set a date to close.

Let’s hope it’s soon, it will save us a lot of money!!

Christmas Gifts

Comments Off

Summer is unofficially over, school started, and there are some Christmas stuff on sales out in some stores.  I can’t believe it.  It is not Halloween yet, let alone Thanksgiving!  I suppose, many store are now trying to entice their customers early enough to shop for Christmas.

I for one have been shopping for my trip.  I thought of CouponChief.com that provides discounts for online shoppers.  I like to shop at Amazon.com for the deals they have on DVDs, books, and puzzles.  The discount Amazon.com coupons varies from free shipping on orders over $25, savings on the outlet station, or health products.  I am already thinking of getting a audio CD for DB for Christmas.  It comes with the book and CD.

In addition, CouponChief.com has Petco coupons for boys’ purchases.  I have a Petco member discount plus with the online coupons like 10% off the entire order, 10$ off for $45 purchase, or 15% off on $75 or more are just a blessing.  I buy the boy’s rawhides, and treats so often, and with these extra savings, it helps on the total.  I can stock up some press rawhide sticks for their Christmas gifts and since Cooper is now suffering from hip dysplasia, I will be stocking up bottles of doggie glucosamine.

I will be looking for coupons on CouponChief.com for my Christmas shopping.

Allergies are here

Comments Off

The boys are getting their dose of fall allergies.  It’s an every year thing.  Spring and fall they will both itch like they have fleas on them.  Ranger’s allergies are pretty much in control throughout spring and summer but the fall allergies really kicked some butt.  His predisone is kicking in but because of the pollens, whatever the names are, the medication is not helping much.

For Coops, he has been chewing his paws a lot started 2 weeks ago.  I noticed it and knew summer is almost over.  The other indication of the return of fall is the appearance of the sumac brushes.  The pollens from these plants for some reason get these 2 boys an itching frenzy.  I have been giving Cooper his Benadryl 50mg 4 times a day hopefully to ease the itchiness, but not much help.  Wanted to give him 75 mg, but don’t want to without consulting with the vet.

I can’t wait for a hard freeze – late September, hopefully.  Then, all skeeters, bugs, allergens will disappear and then the cold will come in.   For now, summer’s heat and humidty are still here, and we need more rain to watch away the pollen.
