Igor

img_0351.JPG

This 11-pointer was shot by DB when he was 17 years old.  DB named him Igor and has been with him through thick and thin.  Before we moved to our current home, Igor was sitting mighty proudly in the three-season porch in the old house.  I want Igor to claim a place too but where.  I thought of the wall above the fireplace in the basement, but it is too low.  The only place I can think of is DB’s office or the living room, above the piano.  Poor Igor, he needs a different scenery besides the while tile ceiling.

Coopster

Comments Off

img_0357.JPG

We came home from our 4-mile walk this morning and Coopster was just whooped.  He and Ranger were begging for their treats, but sorry, it was too early.  Coopster got bored of waiting for his treats, he laid on the floor in my office and eventually felled asleep.  I turned around and saw him like that.  Took a picture and he didn’t even move.  This boy usually is the first one to get up whenever I move.  Not this morning.  I think his hips has something to do with him not wanting to move.  We are planning on taking  him to the vet next week.

Owning your own business

Comments Off

It would be nice if I can own by own business and be my own boss some day.  DB wants to and he is working towards that direction.  If only I can leave my current job and be my own boss and also have health insurance covered at the same time, would be perfect.  An easy way to be your own boss is to own my own vending machine business.  A company call multivend is a leading manufacturer of vending machines in America.

Vending machines can be set up in offices, office buildings, schools, colleges or shopping malls.   What is nice about this is you practically get 80% profit from this business.  There are so many types of vending machines to operate from: pop, energy drinks, water, snacks, or some vending machines have the ability to sell calling cards, too.  Working on the vending machines, you can set your own time when you want to set your run to collect your profit and restock.  And when you are done, you can come home and enjoy the rest of your time.

A Proposal

Comments Off

DB got a call from his daughter’s BF while I was on my way out to Kohls.  I kinda overheard he wants to drop by.  When I came home about 1.5 hours later, SD’s car was still on the driveway.  Hhmm, I thought she came along, too.  Well, it was just the BF.  I was still on the phone chatting away and DB interrupted me and said BF has something to say.  What the hell is going on?  Don’t tell SD is pregnant again? :)   No, not that.

BF told me he is going to propose to SD next weekend.  He planned a trip for them to Duluth and spend 3 days, 2 nights in a nice hotel.  He showed me the ring which he bought from Kay Jewelers.  That ring is really pretty.  I am so excited for them and it will be an interesting weekend next week.  DB said he can see his phone ringing and hear a giggling and crying daughter.

They are hoping to get hitch next year, summer or fall, maybe, in the cities.  They do not want their wedding in Owatonna or in Rochester.  Told them to elope and get married in Vegas!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Comments Off

img_0355_2.jpg

My sis beat me to it….well, she is a day ahead of me.  I want to put up a post for my dear mom for her birthday.  I found this picture sitting on my desk, of course cropped to just get her picture.  Looking at her is just like looking into a mirror except I don’t have the cooking, baking, creativeness and intelligence of my mom.  She is one great lady – smart and always full of ideas.  Like what my sis said, she can drive me up the wall, but I think of her every day.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder.  Happy Birthday, dear Mommy.  I want to be with you on your birthday, but I can’t.  I called to hear your voice.  That call was good enough but I am always with you in my heart.  Hope you have a good one!

Another dream vacation

Comments Off

Oh yes, I want to go to Orlando, visit the Disney World, Universal Studios Sea World, or the Discovery Cove.  I know SD and her BF are dreaming of going to Orlando, too.  Nadine and Mark are still coaxing DB and I to make a trip to Orlando with them.  It would be nice if we are are able to go as a group because Orlando.com offers group hotel bookings at affordable prices.   It has an extensive choice of hotels, car rentals and flights.  I know DB is not a fan of Disney, well, SD and I told him he has to think about it as we will be going as a family!  How about that, a family vacation.  Moreover, with Orlando.com, it has a wide range of travel arrangements and entertainment if he is not into Disney.  I am sure there are travel guides on hand to show us the wonderful oceanfronts with amenities like restaurants, broadwalks, or maybe places where he and BF can go fishing.  Oppss, and I forgot to buy a Powerball ticket today :(

35W Bridge Collapsed Survivor

Comments Off

On my way to work yesterday listening to my usual morning talk-show, 92KQRS, the talk host announced they will be interviewing, Jake, who is the fiance of Mercedes Gorden, a victim of the collapsed 35W bridge.  Once I got to my usual parking spot, I had to listen to the interview.  It was the most moving interview I have ever listened to.  He described how Mercedes was on the bridge and felled nose down 60 feet to the bottom of the bridge and landed on the bank of the Mississippi River.  Her legs were pinned to the front of the car, in excruciating pain, unable to move and was still able to make a phone call to him informing him the bridge had collapsed and he cannot come to her.  He created an online journal all about her time before and after the collapsed.   The website also has pictures of her how her car landed on the bank of the river and also the 6 surgeries she had to go through to reconstruct her feet.  Yes, I cried when I read what she and Jake had to go through.  Now, this is all behind them, looking towards a new life ahead of them.  There will be a benefit held for her tomorrow at the Fine Line Music Cafe.  Wish I can go.

Drug Rehabilitation

Comments Off

Being addicted to drugs whether it is legal or illegal is a disease.  When I was attending the Alanon meetings 3 years ago, I found out about many people can be addicted to narcotics.  I was so naive on this subject matter.  Breaking a drug addiction is difficult, but not impossible.  Families of drug addicts need to give these individuals support and should consider checking them into drug rehabilitation centers.  The objective of the Rehab centers is to put the patients in a detoxification therapy as quickly and safely as possible. In addition, they also help the patients to figure out the problem as to why they are addicted to narcotics.

Pay for Performance

Comments Off

My company has a compensation group to deal with the entire corporation’s compensation.  I think the corporation will not audit the strategic business units by the OFCCP (Office of the Federal Contract Compliance Programs) that often if we have use Halogen eCompensation’s pay for performance.  This product is a web-base solution that will make things easier and restructure the compensation for the organization.  It is easy to use with tools to assign merit-base compensation, bonus pay, stock options, to name a few.  Now, this is what I call efficiency!

A bucket full of apples

Comments Off

img_0347.JPG

Our neighbor brought over a full bag of apples from his apple tree this evening.   He did not spray anything on the fruits as you can see how bad some are.  We have not try them yet but I’m thinking of making an apple crisp tomorrow, well, will see if I have time since I have to go out tomorrow.  Right now, these apples are sitting in the refrigerator downstairs, filled up one crisper.  The boys will be a pair of happy campers :P

PhotoHunt: Paper

Comments Off

I have joined this Photo Scavenger Hunt  to make use of the camera DB bought for me.  I have not use it much after the initial “new toy syndrome”.

I was over at Trinity’s saw she in this , too, I thought I will give it a shot.

This week’s theme is paper.  Below are my collection of magazines, novels, text books and TV Guides fills up two bookcases in my den.  How many trees were chopped down for my collection?  Plus, there are pieces of paper all over my desk.

Mortgage Lists

Comments Off

DB’s friend, Nadine passed her mortgage broker license test couple of months ago.  Both DB and I are happy for her because she can now officially be a mortgage broker.  We are so proud of her especially from her background of a Russian immigrant and had not spoken a word of English before she came to Minnesota, now, she speaks fluent English with a touch of Russian accent.

Her mentor at the mortgage firm she works part-time told her about Martin Worldwide’s mortgage lists.  The mortgage lists consist of  ConsumerPlus where she a database will be provided for her.  She can aim for genuine homeowners, or choose her customers’ demographics using this database.  Besides ConsumerPlus, it also includes Equity Borrowers, Mortgage Orginator TargetBase, Perfect Preferred Prospects, Public Record Information File, and Median Standing Buyers in the mortgage lists.

You want a loving scratch?

Comments Off

Cooper is still itching like crazy.  Where is the hard freeze??  For some reason, when he scratches his front or back legs like the picture below, he sticks out his tougue, as if he is having an orgasm!  It must really feels good for him.  His front of his paw are now red from all his chewing due to the allergies.  Looks like Benedryl did not work for him.  We will have a very cold front soon and the pollen from the trees will disappear rather quickly then.

Tonight’s dinner with sambal belachan (Chilie shrimp paste)

Comments Off

I asked DB what he wanted to have for dinner, instead he answered me with a question, “What do you feel like having?”  Arghhhh!!!

Since he didn’t give me any suggestions, I opened the pantry and saw the bag of noodles.  Thawed out some chicken, soaked the beehoon (rice vermicelli) noodles and dry shroomies.  Prepping an Asian dish takes so much time.  By the time I got everything in the pot cooking with the meat, chillies, sambal belachan, chilie padi, and also steamed brocco and cauli to complete our dinner, it was 6:05 p.m., the the severe weather sirens were blasting away.  I started prepping at 4:50 p.m. starting with  the shallots while watching Jeopardy.

img_0343.JPG

DB saw the bottle of sambal belachan and squeezed shut his nostrils.  I told him the more he’s doing it, the more I will be cooking with that stinky thing.  When he took the first bite, he said, “Very good.  Very good indeed.”  Too bad I put a little too much oil as you can see from the picture!  I can never estimate how much oil, salt, soy sauce, pepper, etc. to add to my dishes.  Always overdose of something.

When he was done, “This will slide down the intestinal track quickly.”  O.o

This is the first time I cook noodles that actually turned out looking like noodles.  Every time I cook the noodles usually the fat, flat noodles, they turned out in pieces.  We practically have to use a spoon to eat them.  Who taught me to cook the noodles?  My new found friend, Nicole.  I used to soak the dry noodles in hot water for too long.  She told me to soak it just a bit and add water while I’m cooking it.  Didn’t know about and now I know :)   Thanks, Nicole.

Looks like we will be having leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Our dream TV

Comments Off

We still want a flat screen for our bedroom to replace the CRT TV, the bulk ugly looking thing.  DB wanted to buy a TV for our exercise room but I told him to replace our bedroom TV with a hitachi HDTV first instead of buying one for the exercise room.

Electronic stores are advertising tons of flat screen HDTVs day after day.  Why do people want to buy plasma HDTVs?  This is due to plasma TVs are now becoming an in-thing for every household.    People buy flat screen TVs because these TVs are more advance, use modern and better technology to build them.  The picture is crystal clear and no wonder we wonder it so bad!

Krillion.com is a website for consumers to look up a TV online and compare the prices with other stores, all done in the comfort of your own home.  Krillion also has the store locations of the TV the consumer desires.  The consumer checks the product information online, do their research, and locate where the nearest store they could purchase their TV or appliances saving the consumers their precious time.
