Took pictures of anything I saw on Saturday.  It started with the picture I took for Photo Hunt, and I just kept clicking away.

Walking path at work

And the company closed the big loop of the walking path to add more parking stalls.  One of the reason why I come in at 6 am is to get a closer stall to the building instead of having to walk 1 mile!

Wall sconces for the hallway

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I just wish that the builder of our home had thought of adding more lighting in the house.  It was poorly designed in the electrical department.  There are only one ceiling light in each room and especially the hallway, it needs more than one.  It needs at least two sets of wall sconce on each end of the hallway like the one in the picture.  We have one set in the entryway and it does add some charm to the otherwise dull entryway.   If we need to add more lighting to the hallway, or even to the entire house, we need to find a decent electrician.  Brings back memories of my dad’s friend, Ban Seng, the electrician.  Maybe we can find one like him in this side of the world.

New mailbox

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Our mailbox needs a face lift.  It is really old and it actually looks like its about to fall apart.  I was looking at this website Seattleluxe.com that manufactures all sorts of Mailboxes.  There are some very unique designs of solid cast aluminum, wooden or steel, and posts, too.  I want one that looks like the picture below, the cast aluminum hummingbird design.  Since we share our post with the neighbor across us, we only need the box.  Who knows if we are up to it, we might get the one with red cedar.

It’s Monday again.

Monday, October 8th, 2007

It’s Monday again, dreary, extremely wet Monday.  It has been raining every couple of days and the rain usually last the whole day.   We were in a drought during the summer, and now the ground is heavily saturated.  Feast or famine.

Yesterday, DB’s was able to mow the front and back yard and picked up the leaves, too.  That the joys of fall – raking and sweeping up the leaves.  The lazy man’s way of raking and sweeping up leaves is to surf the web to Sears online and order a Craftsman 6 Bushel 2 – Bin Soft Bagger for his lawn rider.  Place and order and pick it up at the store.  He used to use a blower, vacuum them leaves and dump them in the yard waste bin.  That was too much work.  DB just loves this new gadget coz it picks up grass clippings, too.  It does a great job and supposes to saves a lot of time, but my dear hubby attached the wrong hose to don’t know where on the rider, and it won’t pick up any leaves or grass clippings.  He spent 2 hours dinking with that bin and finally figured it out.  This was not the first time either.  He will be all pissy and when he figures it out, he really beat himself up for being such an idiot.

Anyways, I spent Saturday afternoon shopping at Plato’s Closet, a consignment store, Kohls and groceries.  When I got home, I didn’t want to do anything except to watch movies.  It was unusually warm Saturday.  The temperature was 87F degrees, we had the air on and planted our butts on the couch and watched “Ghost Rider” and “Next”, both were Nicholas Cage’s movies.  “Ghost Rider” was entertaining with Sam Elliot and Peter Fonda, just adds a great touch to the movie.  “Next”,  I will not see it again.  Just a really wierd movie.

The race at Talledega was on at 1 pm on Sunday.  I was watching it in between breaks from vacuuming.  I watched the last 97 laps waiting for the “Big One”.  The big one is a crash of a bunch of cars either all totalled or with cosmetic damage.  I was watching my driver, Jeff Gordon, who was sitting at the back of the pack and finally moved up to the 11th spot on lap 20 some and was in the 4th spot with Stewart leading.  The last 3 laps was the bestest of the best.  Jeff was 3rd with his team mates Johnson in the front and Casey Mears behind him.  When the white flag flew, Gordon made a pass and slid in front of Stewart and went on to win the race with the help of Stewart drafting Gordon to the finish like.  It was an awesome race.  So happy to see  him win and not “Gross” Stewart, or “Chicken Face ” Kurt Busch.

When that was done with the race and dinner, I went to SD’s place and together with her BF, or fiancé now, we three went to Pinehaven farm for the haunted hayride and haunted house event.   SD’s step-sis and her friend were also there to get some scary moments.  It was my first time, and it was quite a disappointment and for the price of the ticket of $15/adult.  There were not many people and the ride was not that scary.  It scared me twice and the rest were quite ok.  The Texas Chainsaw guy with the chainsaw going was creepy.  Hate the sound of the chainsaw.  It gives me the crawlies.  In the haunted house, if I was at the front, I think I will enjoy it more – I might get scared more than I want, but since I was sandwiched between two 5’10 ladies, it was more like going for a walk in a haunted house with a lot of noise.  The only thing I didn’t like about the haunted house is the “spinning” tunnel.  They decorated the tunnel with an illusion as if you are walking into a spinning tunnel, and we in fact felt we were spinning walking through the tunnel.  It made me queasy.

That was the highlight of my weekend.  By the time I got home, showered and went to bed, it was 10:30, and I was wide awake watching “Everybody Loves Raymond” laughing away.  Happy Monday!
