Honeymoon in Hawaii

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Hubby’s friend Scott came over last night for a visit.  The last I saw Scott was last year when he helped us moved to our new house.  I knew he was dating but did not know he got married this year.  He and his wife, Melissa married in July.  Their wedding was held in Alaska where Melissa’s family and relatives are.  I can just imagine how beautiful it is in Alaska in the the summer.  They did not head out for their honeymoon because of Scott’s job commitments.  So, came to find out, they just returned from their honeymoon last week.  What a surprise.  The last DB talked to him was last month and he did not tell Db about it.

The happy couple contacted Melissa’s sister who is a travel agent asking her where would a great and affordable place for their honeymoon.  Well, her sister told them to  check out the Hawaiian vacations from Hawaiian Beach Rentals.  Scott told us their rental beach house faces Mount Makana and he had the best time surfing and Melissa’s favorite was deep sea diving.  They found all the Hawaii hot travel spots from the Hawaiian Local Travel Information center Melissa’s sister gave them.  I can’t wait to see the pictures now.

Bummer…

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

I was busy pounding on the keyboard and DB came in happily cracking jokes and trying to be a pain in my butt as usual.  Some may think we are a pair of weird couple, but that’s how we are.  We love to give each other hell but we love each other to bits.  At the end of the day, we are always kissing and hugging.  Anyway, back to what I want to write about.  He came in to my office, moved my crap of paper, magazines, books from the “visitor’s” chair, sat down and said he has something to talk to me about.  I thought he wanted to talk to me about the benefits enrollment.  I printed a copy of what I thought would be suitable for us for him to look at and told him to give me his answer tomorrow as it is the last day of open enrollment.

He said thanks and next he said, “Say, I got laid off today.  I was not fired, but laid off.”  My initial reaction, my eyes were wide opened, as wide as can be and my brains went on a wild spinned.  I asked him if he was joking, he said no.  Then he told me the whole story.

That bastard case Mutusamy boss of his used DB’s performance and his dislike of his job as a factor to laid him off.  His boss had a 10-minute meeting with him last month asking him how he like his job and so forth.  His boss said he will speak to HR to see if they can help him get a different job.  Well, HR helped the boss to get rid of DB!!!

DB is taking this laid off very well.  I’m so damn proud of him.  He said he is actually happy that he got laid off because he wanted to get out of that company.  He knew something was not right, but didn’t expect a lay off that soon.  He was expecting it after our vacation.

So, sis, DO NOT TELL our folks yet till we are there.  I don’t want them to worry.  We are in better shape now than before.  DB told me not to worry as he has plans.  What plans, I can’t tell either!

Will write more on a different post….as filler posts!

Credit card processing

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

When my friend opened her restaurant, she told me she was so grateful that her hubby was able to help her out with all the minute things that she was not familiar with.  Coming from a different country, some things are done differently in this country.  One very important matter that she needed to remember was how to get the credit card processing system going for the restaurant.  They contacted Bank Card Central, an internet company that processes Visa and Mastercard payments for business folks like my friend.  With this internet company overseeing their account, my friend has more time to work on hiring more staff to help her in the kitchen.   She does not need to worry about establishing what terminal and software for customers’ credit card payments.  Bank Card Central point of sale restaurant systems comes with the terminal and equipment with features like options for receipts, tips, managing fraud, just to name a few.  With everything all set up for her, there is not a thing to worry about except to bring in more customers!

Fall TV programs

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Since the start of fall, I have been watching night series like there’s no tomorrow.  Tonight is one exception.  I’m sacrificing Survivor to do paid posts.  I will be glued to the TV starting at 7 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  Mondays and Wednesdays I will be stucked to the TV from 8 - 10 pm.  Tuesdays are NCIS, CSI Miami, Without a Trace, and Thursdays Survivor, CSI, and ER.  I hope when school starts next semester I will be able to concentrate on my schooling.  Well, there’s the PVR to record the shows, too.  Oh mannnnnn…..anyways, DB said he will help out with the boys when I do paid posts.

Flooring warranty from iFloor

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

iFLOOR, is a place for all your flooring needs.  Look for hardwood, laminate, bamboo, carpet, or tile, iFloor has them all.  Currently this flooring company is endorsing a $1 million limited warranty to  protect customers who have no warranty from other manufacturers especially if they made an online purchase.  Visit www.ifloor.com for your flooring questions and make over.   Below is the press release in regards to the $1 million warranty program.

iFLOOR, America’s largest online flooring retailer, today announced a $1,000,000 limited warranty designed to protect its customers from predatory manufacturer policies that exclude warranty coverage from online purchases.

The policy, which goes into effect immediately, offers up to one million dollars of coverage in the event that a customer’s warranty claim is denied specifically because they made their purchase online. It is complimentary for every iFLOOR customer, and protects the buyer under the same terms as the original product warranty.

iFLOOR, Inc. CEO, Steve Simonson, came up with the program to combat “scare tactics” used by manufacturers of hardwood floors and laminate flooring. “Their idea is to discourage you from buying at a discount!” wrote Simonson in his blog “It’s About Flooring”. “This is not right! You deserve to save money! So we’re going to take care of this problem once and for all.”

And it would appear that federal law is on his side. Section 108 of the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Act, states that, “In general, tie-in sales provisions are not allowed. Such a provision would require a purchaser of the warranted product to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty.”

Under iFLOOR’s new warranty, a key provision allows for iFLOOR to “seek justice” on behalf of the customer in the event of legal action. According to Simonson, “I’m putting iFLOOR’s money where my mouth is.”
