Ms. E’s free trip to Hawaii

Comments Off

Isn’t it nice to go on vacations that are paid for and you can also bring along your spouse?  Ms. E is a member of the board of directors in her bank and every year the members of the board are given two paid trips for their annual meeting and some other conference.  This December, she and her hubby are going to Hawaii and it would be the second time they have been to Hawaii sponsored by the bank.  I so envy her.  Anyways, she told me they will be staying on the Big Island for 5 days with the other members of the bank.  Everything from air fare, taxi, hotel accommodation, meals and activities will be paid for.

After the 5-day meetings, she and her hubby will extend their stay in Hawaii for another 4 more days.  Her hubby made all the extended stay arrangements through HawaiianBeachRentals.com.  He looked over all the Big Island vacation rentals  on their website and is contemplating if he should get a rental home or a cabin in North Kohala Ranch.  The first rental property is on the Kulawai Falls and has their own private waterfalls and pond.   Both places are close to all touristy spots especially for his hubby, that is golf.

All these viewing of beautiful vacation places in Hawaii totally got me and Ms. E reading the Hawaiian Travel Blog.  From this travel blog, she is able to find places they can go to during their extended stay.  Hawaii must be an awesome place for vacation because every one that has been there said they will always go back to Hawaii any time.

Save big bucks

Comments Off

DB and I are quite a bit of gadget freaks.  Actually, he is more into new gadgets than I do.  When those mp3 players came on to the market, he wanted one so bad.  Of course, I did not get one for him nor did he got one for himself.  I believe that if we hunt around at some bargain places, we would have found some priced rather decently.

Since Christmas is couple of months away, there is a new site call SaveBuckets which really helps consumers to save some money by finding the best prices online.  It is a website where you can purchase all your favorite home electronics, cameras, books, household items,  gardening tools, clothing, jewelry, computer and its accessories and so many more, and I almost forgot, electronic games, too.  What SaveBuckets does is the consumer search for an item, for example, a Canon digital camera, hit Find.  The consumer can make a choice of finding the item in all shops, or just to shops the consumer is familiar with.  Once the results appear, the consumer go through the list of Canon digital cameras that are sold at the stores like Europc, QED UK, or Asda.  Also, the consumer is able to make a price comparison right on the website.

SaveBuckets will definitely help consumers save a ton of money.  It basically helps the consumer to hunt for a product that is sold less cheaper from one dealer to another.  Check out SaveBuckets now as this website has appear on several news channels including Channel 4 news.

This week’s theme is Classic and my all time classic is The Sound of Music.  I pretty much have all the songs in this movie memorized.  I remembered watching it when I was still a kiddo, and I can watch it over and over again without getting bored.  My favorite scene is when Maria (Julie Andrews) brought the Captain’s kids out to town with the uniforms she sewn for them.  I watch it once in a while when the mood kicks in for some classic movies.

BF’s new job

Comments Off

SD’s BF found a new job at a company that manufactures autoparts.  He applied for  this job because of his previous employer is closing the plant and moving it to Mexico in January of 2008.  The drive to this new work place is farther but it is a full time, regular job and he has benefits and 401k on top of that.  With this new job, he is required to buy work boots as he will be working in the factory itself.  He went online and saw that MetBoots.com has a variety of Steel Toe Boots that he really fancies.  He likes those highcut style boots and was looking at Dr. Martens, but DB told him to check out Caterpillar boots.  They are durable,  and very comfortable.  And what is swell about MetBoots.com is they offer free shipping for purchase of $100 and above.  On top of that, their prices for all the boots sold on their online store are very reasonable.

Am I worried?

Comments Off

If I’m not worried, I would be lying through my nose.  After what DB told me last night, I was thinking about it a little.  I still can’t believe he came in and told me about his lay off so non-chalantly.  He must be really glad to get out of that stinky place.  I’m happy for him yet I’m dead worried.  I hope he can apply for unemployment after the severance ends.  If not, we will be up our butts trying to get house payments out.

I’m thinking of so many things now.  House payments, vacation, bills, job, tax withholdings, and whatever else I am doing for extra cash.  If we had not paid for our air tickets, we would have cancelled our trip to M’sia, but we can’t.  Everything’s paid for.  DB seems to be in a very good mood.  Even when we had dinner last night, he was happily chompping away and was his usual self.  So, I guess he definitely has plans laid out.
