Home lightings

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Db’s former coworker, Colby and his family will be moving to their brand spanking new home in December.  He bought a piece of land by Hastings and build their two-storey home with a three-car garage and a tool shed.  They have sent invites out for a house warming for the end of December, 28th to be exact.  This is the first time I have seen this, on the invite, they listed out what are the best gifts if guests are bringing gifts.  One of them are light fixtures.

There are a few on the list that they are look for.  We thought it is quite weird to ask guests for these types of gifts.  But DB said it’s not unusual at all.  They are looking for  ceiling light fixtures, the ceiling mounted  types, for their living room.  The next choice we thought of are the chandeliers.   The choices of their desired chandeliers are all very neat.  The traditional chandeliers are at a reasonable price, but I told DB we should get the casual chandelier per Colby’s listing.  If not, we need to look into the kitchen light fixtures.   All of Colby’s choices of lightings are from Farreys.com, which has a big variety of light fixtures and light accessories to pick from.

HDTVs

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

On one of my writing assignments for my writing class this spring I wrote about how HDTVs will take over the CRT TVs.  CRT TVs will be extinct soon because they are bulkier, heavier and they uses so much space.  Electronic stores are advertising more of the HDTVs with great discounts, which they are competing with other stores to sell the most goods.  Consumers are leaning towards HDTVs as it is getting to be an in-thing for every household.

Krillion.com is a website where it allows consumers to search and compare prices of, for example, a sharp HDTV.  If I were to buy this TV, I would type in the city, state and zipcode I want to purchase it.  The results will give me a listing of Sharp televisions with the model numbers and prices.  To compare the prices of a desired Sharp TV, I would click on the Compare Prices button.  The website will take me to the next screen with the description of the TV and where I can buy it together with the retailer’s name and prices.  Krillion.com is a comprehensive retailer price comparison search engine for major appliances.  It is definitely a great way for saving some bucks.

Someone plugged up the dryer vent!!!

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I did a big load of laundry this morning and dumped them in the dryer for 45 minutes and went around with my surfing the web and watched a movie, 1408.  I heard the beep from the dryer and ignored it, thought I would get the clothes when the movie was done.   Right after the movie was done, I went to the laundry room, opened it up and saw clothes were still damp and worst was lint and dampness on the front of the door but inside.  There was nothing on the lint trap.  It didn’t occur to me someone plugged up the outside vent.  I kinda loosen up the load and put in more dryer sheets, started it up and went for my walk.  When I came home, I told DB about it since all these happened when he was out running errands at Home Depot and voting for a school referendum crap (raising property taxes for schools crap).  This is when Db told me he plugged up the outside vent because it was so darn windy yesterday.  Was I fuming!!  Usually he will tell me when he plugs up the vent.  He knew he f-ed up there, he unplugged the vent, finished cleaning up the wet lint in the dryer and fold the laundry.

My boss told me I should read this book – the whole book as it based on what we are doing for a living.  I can flip through the chapters and pick the one of my interests.  So far I have gone through 3 chapters out of 24.   They are short chapters but I can’t read them like a story book!  Wish I could.  It needs to be studied, analyzed and apply them to my work.  It is time consuming but it is already helping me with the tons of narratives I have to edit for the organization.  This is what challenging means to me.  Analyzing the reports and data.

City Guides

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I would love to travel the world some day.  It is my wish to be able to go to any city in the world, explore and take in the wonders the city bestows.  But first I want to visit the entire United States and Canada.  I have been to Vancouver, BC almost 5+ years ago.  If I have known about hotelsbycity.net, I would have found out more about Canada Hotel Guides which will give me better ideas what were the best hotels there were in that city.

I felled in love with Vancouver right away.  The luscious greens, mountains in the background were absolutely gorgeous.  I attended a wedding at the Westin Bayshore located right in the heart of Vancouver, surrounded by Stanley Park and Burrad Inlet.  The hotel guides on hotelsbycity.net provides all the information you need for the city you are visiting.  From cheap hotels if you are a budget traveller to the finest hotel you can find in that particular city.  It also has travel information like weather, major attractions, online resources for example the airport, visitors bureau, and there is also a blog of the parks you can visit in the city of Vancouver: Stanley, Elizabeth, Mount Pleasant, and Hastings Park to name a few.  Vancouver a city of nature!
