When I first used DB’s vacuum cleaner, an old Hoover, the really old model where it was made of steel and the bag was made of heavy cotton. It was just a piece of junk as far as I was concerned. It picks up the crap on the carpets but that thing probably weighs a hundred pounds! Then we bought another Hoover, a much lighter one, but it was not the bagless type. Back in 1999, I do not recall seeing any vacuums that are bagless.
Since we moved to our current home and with the amount of dog hair from the two boys, the Hoover did not do a very good job. We saw the Dyson vacuum cleaner advertisement many times and since I was the one who does all the vacuuming in the house, I hinted to DB to get a Dyson for me. He gave in eventually and we went to Sears and bought the Dyson DC17 Absolute range which is also called “Absolute Animal”. It picks up the dog hair like right away. I do not have to vacuum an area twice like what I did with the Hoover! Saves me a lot of time and energy because the Dyson vacuum is very light compare to the Hoover.
I do like the fact that Dyson has a website where we can purchase additional accessories if need be. Since we have two dogs in the house, the filter does need to be washed very often. DB said he rather get another filter and have it in storage and have it if need be. The filter collects so much dust and dog hair, it is unbelievable. We actually have to wash it after each vacuum. Moreover, if we run out of the Zorb carpet maintenance powder, we can get it from the website because the store usually runs out.
And the best part about this vacuum is all the clear bin for storage of all the vacuumed up stuff can be seen clearly from the outside. The bin can be removed by just one click, take the bin out, click on another button and the junk goes right into the trash! Also, the vacuum adjust to the floor height automatically and I can change the motor if I need to vacuum bare floors, too. Overall, we have no problems with this vacuum cleaner at all. I simply love it.
