Vegas is confirmed…

31 March 2008

Yep, it’s confirmed, I’m going to Las Vegas on May 4-7.   I had to ask Ms. E to move her flex Monday to a different so she could be here in the office while my boss and I are in Vegas.  It’s weird, my boss will be in Vegas that week, too.  We might bump into each other.

Tammy will get the air tickets and I will take care of tickets to Cirque du Soleil.  I told Corrine and Tammy about Le Reve, an aquatic presentation by Cirque du Soleil.  I have employee discounts through my company so tickets are about $108.90 per person plus children need a ticket, too.  Yeah, it’s cut-throat but what to do, we really want to see Cirque du Soleil.

The next event I would like to attend is the Richard Petty Driving Experience.  Since I’m already in Vegas, I should visit the Las Vegas Speedway and hop in one of the NASCAR  car, going 160 mph for 3 laps.  I might pee in my pants, but that is one of my one thing to do before I kick the bucket!  Moreover, who knows when will I ever go to Vegas again.

The rest of the activities will be arranged while we are there like the Hoover Dam and maybe the Grand Canyon tour.  There are employee discounts, too, from my company.   Will have to discuss with the other participants.  I am so pumped! :-)

Cellphone receptions

31 March 2008

Do you have problems with your cellphone reception when you are in the basement of your apartment complex?  I don’t live in apartments but when I have to park in the basement of parking ramps, my cellphone will give me the “No Service” on my cellphone.  Nadine’s hubby installed a cell phone repeater in their home a few months ago and she is loving it especially when she is receiving a lot of calls from her clients to view houses.  I can see how important it is to install an antenna for stronger signals particularly if they are in the basement in their home theater.

The Johnsons’ second home

31 March 2008

My friend Ruth and her hubby are still in Oklahoma for the winter.  They will not return to Minnesota until the beginning or mid May.  They only live in Minnesota, Lake Mille Lacs to be exact only for the summer and through fall.  Then they will be gone for the rest of winter where they will spend it in Oklahoma, Texas, or Arizona.  Her hubby bought a class A motorhome two years ago.  She is loving it and so is the man.  All they need to do is pay a fee for the motorhome rent in the park they desire to stay for that time, and enjoy rounds of golf with the other retirees.  They have totally considered the motorhome as their second home.  They have travelled in the RV to many parks.  I have yet to hop on it but I hope it will be soon.

Vegas, baby!

30 March 2008

I cannot believe I am so eager to get to work tomorrow.  It’s almost 10, time to snooze.  Why am I so eager???  Because I have to check my department’s out of office calendar to check for the month of May, dates 4-7, if there is anyone else taking vacation for those days.  Yes, baby, I am so excited.

The chance to go to Las Vegas is a dream come true for me.  I want to go to Las Vegas for the longest time.

I went to work at Satay2Go on Saturday and was asked by Corrine if I want to join her and her family on those dates.  The company her hubby is working is having a conference on those days and family are allowed to come along.  She asked the other lady, Tammy,  working at the restaurant if she wants to come along to accompany her, Tammy said yes but only need another companion to share the hotel room.  DB is just so happy for me, he said yes, go ahead.  But I cannot truly confirm til I get to work tomorrow morning.

I am hoping, keeping my fingers crossed that those days are open for me.   I’m sure I won’t be going to Vegas with DB….he has no intentions of going to Lost Wages.  Ok, i better get my butt to bed now, we are expecting another blow of spring snow tomorrow with accumulations of 6-7 inches.  Yuck!!

PhotoHunt: High

29 March 2008

PhotoHunters

The theme for this week’s  is “High”.  I did thought of being “high” like stoned on drugs!  But of course I have no pictures of that kind of “high”.  What I found on my albums are pictures from my trip to Cameron Highlands, Perak, Malaysia last year December.  My friend, Stef and her hubby, Pat together with her mom and I were there on a day trip.  The picture below is where the Boh Tea Plantation is located.  The look-out thingy that protrudes out up high on the cliff was specially built for visitors to view the beautiful rows and rows of tea plants.  I took the picture while we were walking up.Photobucket

The above picture is the view from the look-out looking down to the tea plantation workers’ living quarters which is on midle left of the picture that are sorta dark green in color.  The narrow path to the top is on the mid left of the picture.

DB’s classes

28 March 2008

Mikey, the training coordinator at the investor relations training school were chatting with DB last week if DB is interested with additional classes on options and forex trading.  Mikey thinks that his boss will give a discount for the classes specially for DB since he has been a student with the school since he started his stock classes last year.  I told Db if it is not going to interfere with our budget, I am fine with it, but if it has to touch our savings and credit cards, you can tell Mikey to wait till we have enough cash unless there is a sponsor somewhere who is willing to pay for his classes.

The ditz is almost back to her usual self

26 March 2008

Thanks again for all of your comments.  Last night I went to bed with extra pillows to prop myself up instead of lying flat on the bed.  I was propped at 45 degrees, slept quite alright.  I was awake a few times reason being I was so conscious of not laying on my right side since each time I lay on my right side, the pressure in my head get really bad.  So, this morning I woke up feeling much, much better.  Not sure is it because of how I propped myself up or just the vertigo thing is going away.  DB still drove me to  work even I felt better.  He wants to drive me just to make sure in case the dizziness strikes me hard while I was driving.

Work was fine provided that I was not looking down too much and not swing myself around the chair too fast.

I even took the boys for their walk when I got home.  I told DB I was getting better.  The boys were one happy puppies.  Bouncing off the driveway all the way and back.  The only problem I had when i got home was cleaning them where I had to bend down to clean them.  At least they are well behaved that they allowed me hold on to them - more like putting my weight of my left hand on them.

If I’m not getting better, than I would be dog gone lying.  I had to cook dinner coz DB had to take a nap.  When I told him what we would be having noodles for dinner, he said “Noodles again?”  Yep, unless you cook dinner.  I cooked the wanton mee with the left over pork chops we grilled on Sunday with steamed broccolli.  I told myself I just feel glad that I’m not feeling whoozy  anymore.  Went up and down the basement with no problems.

Tonight I will still sleep propped up.  Oh, that damn dentist case, I called them yesterday to cancel the appointment telling there is no one to take me there since I can’t drive.  They can charge me that $50 they want coz I won’t be calling them again for another appointment.  I even asked her where on the reminder card they sent me was there the $50 cancellation fee if not call withing 24 hours written for their customers to know.  She said it should be on the card they sent, and I told her I was holding the card and tell me where it is.  She didn’t even know where it is and put me on hold.  Is she blond you think?  She came back about 5 minutes later telling me the cancellation fee policy is actually written on the little appointment card given by the hyginiest.  J.C. sister, that card was long gone after I put the appointment on my Outlook calendar.  That stupid policy on a small little appointment card, the size of a business card.  They should have put that policy on the reminder email and card they sent out.  What idiots.   I told the receptionist her dental office will not hear from me again.  She quickly said she will not charge me this time but take it as a warning.  Well, thanks, but you still will not see me again.

I have to say they are trying to get the money from their customers as much as they can to pay for the big ass building they bought and all the brand spanking new furniture and renovation they did.  They are losing one very loyal customer, had been with this dentist the year I arrived in MN.  I should write them a note to put mine and hubby’s accounts to the inactive pile.

Adam, the Shih Tzu

25 March 2008

DB and I did give the thought of getting another puppy, but I shoved it off.  The two big boyz are more than enough for me to walk, bathe and split my attention-giving for them.  DB insisted that we should at least get a puppy within the smaller breed category, but I was persistent, No means NO.

shih_tzu_new.jpg

Having another puppy right now is not the right time for us.  If I want another puppy I would check out other dog breeds like Shih Tzus.  Labs are great dogs, but they are high maintenance dogs who need a lot of exercise.  I love all kinds of breeds and especially the one our friend, Ruth had, a Shih Tzu name Adam.  Adam was such a loving dog, so affectionate and very playful.  Adam had long grayish long hair with white patches on his hind, belly and legs.  Ruth sent him to the groomer during the summer season to trim his hair so he wouldn’t be too hot with his long hair.

Adam was the most well behaved dog I have ever encountered.  He obeyed all voice and hand commands so well.  Bathing and drying him was so easy, and it could be because he was an older dog, he was around 8 years old then, he stood still for his bath and dry him, no fuss at all.  All I can say now is Adam was very loved dog.  At his age, he was still very playful - loves to play fetch and enjoyed all his walks.  Ruth maintained his weight so he wouldn’t be overweight.  Shih Tzus should not be overweight.  When trained from a pup, Shih Tzus will enjoy their exercising time.  Ruth tossed a tennis ball and Adam would run for it for hours.  That was one of the ways he stayed so slim and maintained the muscles  that made him looked so fit and trim.  Overall, Shih Tzus do not need a lot of exercise.  They are in the toy group breed so they do not need to be taken for long walks.

shih_tzu_new1.jpg

Shih Tzus and with any other puppy, when train from young they will be happy and so will the owners.  A Shih Tzu is a companion pet.  Its temperament is a very happy and affectionate dog.   Just remember that this breed needs weekly grooming and constant companionship, and is not a watch dog.  The Shih Tzu is not a barker.  If you think you want to have your pooch to join in with some family activity, the Shih Tzu will have to decide if he or she wants to or not.  They make their own decisions.   Yes, Adam was a true Shih Tzu, very loving and a great companion for Ruth and her hubby.  Adam died at the age of 14 years of age.  That is approximately the life span of a Shih Tzu.

The cause of my dizziness

25 March 2008

Thanks for all the kinds wishes you guys left for me….they are quite hilarious which did crack a smile on my face.  You guys think I’m pregnant, huh?  Haha, not a chance, coz it won’t happen.

I actually just got back from urgent care.  The doc said I have labyrinthitis or what they call Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.  I feel really dizzy especially changing positions from left, right, up, down or looking up.  No treatment for this problem.  This will last for a few days, weeks or months.  When I heard it will take a few days or weeks let alone months, it totally bummed me out - you know how active I am!  The doc told me to wait it out unless I take motion sickness medication which is a NO for me.  I don’t want to feel like a “space cadet” all the time.  The doc told me if the symptoms of BPPV persist for more than 3 weeks, I have to see my reg doc where she will refer me to a physical therapist who specializes with BPPV. I will come in to work tomorrow and not move around too much - sit at my desk the best thing, no stairs or quick turns of my head, that’s what the doc told me, plus no driving at all till I have no signs of dizziness.  I feel so helpless.  The boys are dang bugging me for their walks.  Sorry guys.

I called the stupid dentist to cancel my appointment for this afternoon, the receptionist told me there will be a $50 cancellation fee.  How absurd is that?  I will call again and tell them to shove it up their butt coz I’m not going to lay on that whatever you call that “bed” where they will tilt you where I will feel like I’m sorta turned upside down.  I rather suck it up, pay that $50 than feel nauseaus and dizzy.  I’m now officially a “ditz”! :-)

Why am I feeling so crappy today?

24 March 2008

That’s what I asked myself when DB’s alarm went of at 3:00 a.m.  I felt so dizzy, the room was kinda spinning.  Went back to bed after my potty break and told DB bout it.  He told me not to go to work.  He came woke me up at 5 and my respond was “I ain’t going to work coz I feel really crappy.”  Called my boss and left her a message that I’m not coming in.

As I’m typing this I feel I’m about to throw up.  The nauseous feeling is driving me nuts.  I have to wait for DB to return from the mechanic first before he can take me to urgent care.  My car was leaking gas since Friday, could not bring her in to fix on Friday afternoon or Saturday coz the mechanic was fully booked.  I hope there is nothing major of a repair which will cost us a bomb to fix that leak.

I googled up dizziness.  Feeling lightheaded early in the morning reminds me of those drinking days, but I have not been drinking for years at least 6 years now.  What’s the deal here?  Webmd.com says dizziness can be the onset of a flu, allergies, diarheaa, tobacco use which I have not touch them for 1.5 years, internal bleeding.  Vertigo happens when the sensory signals all went haywire.  Maybe I have that?

Gonna go lay on the couch now and read my “The Mummy” book and nurse my not-suppose-to-be-hangover.

Happy Easter

23 March 2008

Happy Easter to those who celebrate Easter.  Every year the day before Easter, this show will come on in the evening.  You folks know what show that is?

Photobucket

Opening of the Red Sea

Yeah, it’s the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston and Yul Bryner.  I asked DB since he is a Catholic/Christian why this movie comes on, on the eve of Easter.  He said he has no answer to that question.  Anyone knows why?  If it’s not the Ten Commandments, it will be Ben Hur.  Whichever movie the station airs, I still watch it.  Actually I was watching and Facebooking/blog hopping at the same time.  It still is a very good show with very few commercials.  It didn’t end till 10:50 p.m. and I stayed up to watch the end of it.

Easter for us two is just another weekend.  Most of the stores are closed.  I drove all the way to Michaels to get some crafty stuff, guess I should have called first before I drove out there , coz, which they were closed, and I ended up at Barnes and Nobles instead, and got some bargained books.  Good buys I have to say.  Bought three hard covered books for $27+. DB asked what books I bought I told him “The Mummy” - learn how to mummify him :-)

We didn’t do much today except to shovel snow, went for a long walk in the woods, clean house and grill out for dinner.  Now it’s just the two of us, but I told DB next year’s Easter, there will be an addition to the family which he will have to partake for family sake :)  SD’s bun is about 80% done, I think. Grandpa is quite anxious.

Good Friday snow storm

23 March 2008

Good Friday on March 21st.  I thought I could call in because we will be snowed it.  Dang, no such luck.  It snowed over night but not that bad.  About an inch or two.  But then once I got to work at 6 a.m., it snowed harder, flakes were bigger.  They were those wet snow that will stick to everything.  Sure enough my colleague Ms E called me at 7:20 a.m. telling me she will be leaving home later coz there were at least 5 inches of snow on her drive way and the route she has to take to work is just gonna suck around that time.

DB sent me some pictures around 10ish with these disgusting pictures.

Photobucket

The day before we could see grass, the smoker and bench were clear of snow, not even any ice on them.  The snow didn’t let up at all.  The boys love it.  Here is a picture of them in the woods, didn’t give a hood about me behind them.  All they wanted was run but no can do bcoz of their leashes.

the-boys-032108_2.jpg

The snow finally let up this afternoon and left us with this big pile of white crap on our patio.

Photobucket

It melted a little with the sun trying to creep out.  Looks like this little mountain will stay put for awhile since the patio does not get too much sun this time of the year.

Nadine and her stories

23 March 2008

The housing market is really bad for us.  Nadine was doing fairly well last year up until the early part of January this year.  When DB and I hang around with her, she will tell us about all sorts of things she will find in houses in the market and what some her clients are looking for.  DB thinks she loves to talk which she definitely has the gift of gap.  She told us yesterday that a client of hers said they are not removing the shower chairs that were installed  in the house that is up for sale.  I would have told her client to get rid of them if they want their house in the market.  Some times I can’t imagine how Nadine can tolerate all these nonsense from her clients.

Photohunt: Metal

22 March 2008

PhotoHunters

Metal is this week’s  theme.   I found a picture of a scale in my parents’ home, a scale that is made of metal from top to bottom.  It is not the best picture for this hunt, but it still works, right?  It has kati and pounds, and I forgot to ask my mom where she got it from.   I’m sure my sis will tell me.
