Vacation: KL Trip

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Since I came back from my vacation last year, I have not put up my thoughts on how I felt about KL.  When was the last time I was in KL before my vacation last year?  I think it was in 1995, not sure but I have a gut feeling it was ‘95.  I remembered the base of the KL Towers was just slowly erecting from the ground.  The bases of the Twin Towers were sorta constructed.  It seems so long ago.

The Petronas Towers.  Yes, I have been there, finally.  I felt so “jakun” (someone who has not seen a big city) when I saw the two towers.   I actually felt proud.  Can you friggin believe that??  I kinda felt weird myself but I sure was happy to see the towers with my own 4  eyes!

Next is the night lights of the city: the Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad with the KL Towers in the background.  Again, I was awe on how much KL has changed, more than I thought.

The above picture was taken on a rainy Wednesday evening (Dec 5, 2007).  It’s not a very good picture but it is still my favorite.

Pay to do your business

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

When I was in KL, my friend Deb took me to Suria KLCC.  It was the first time I was there and I was so glad that I got to go see what the Petronas Towers look like.

We walked almost every floor and till I had to pee. So happened we were on the second floor, the floor where all the designer stores are located.  As I was walking I saw the sign for bathrooms and told Deb I’m going to the bathroom.  She told me not to go to the bathrooms on the second floor.  Why I wondered??

The most expensive bathroom fee!

There.  Because it’s a Premier Paid Toilet.  Whoever needs to go do their business and so happen you are on this floor, you have to pay RM2.00, and exact change, too.  I should have paid the RM2.00 and take a look what so special are their bathrooms that one has to pay that much pee or poop.  Does it not smell like the other non paying bathrooms?  I wonder if they are spotless and dry?  Must be some fancy schmancy toilets, gold trimmings with bidets??  :)  Wonder how many people has patronize this Premier Paid Toilet?  I suppose whoever thought of this idea thinks that if one can afford to shop on this floor, he/she can afford to pay the RM2.00 for a pee or dump.  Can’t be curious anymore coz maybe the next year or two when I’m in KL, it’s not required to pay anymore.

Puppy training for the new pup

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Dropped by at Maxine and Alex’s house today after my weekly shopping and what a surprised I got from them.  They bought a puppy, a husky.  The little puppy is a male and oh my, he is quite big for a pup.  They named him Tanner because of the color of his fur, light chocolate and white  colored cute little thing.  I was wondering when Alex is going to get a husky since he is an avid sled-dog racer, and a plus is they are both moving out of the cities to the tundra.  To be more precise, International Falls which is way up north of Minnesota, right next to Lake Superior.

Maxine is moving back to her hometown to be closer to her parents and the next wonderful thing is both Maxine and Alex will be living in the farm, and came to find out he has already purchased three more huskies.  They are still with the breeder and will be getting them next week.  Maxine is not wild about the huskies but she said as long as the puppies have proper puppy training and provided the pups have sufficient exercise every day, she is okay with them.  From what  I know about the breed, huskies are working dogs. they are sled dogs and will work till you tell them to stop working.  They love to work for their owner but they are also very good family dogs.   Alex’s huskies will be outside dogs once they move to the farm.   Although they will be outside dogs, these boys still need to socialize with other puppies, and train them so they do not have separation anxiety from the owners.

Since I was there at their home, I played with Tanner.  He is only 8 weeks old and Alex is doing a good job in keeping the pup busy!  He said he will have his buddy in International Falls provide the sled dog training for the huskies.   But then of course those husky boys will need dog obedience training first because they will be in the house, too, whenever their master wants them to.   They will need to know the basic obedience like come when called, sit, down commands.

The other three pups are also males: Shadow, Max and Cole.  Alex and Maxine’s new pups will be leaving the cities next month and I hope I will be able to visit them at their new home.

Photohunt: Different

PhotoHunters

This week’s  theme is Different.  When I think of Different, I think of our boys, the two yellow labrador retrievers.

They are both yellow labs but Ranger, the first picture, is a show breed, the English breed.   Cooper, the second picture, is the field breed, the American breed.  What’s the difference between them?  The show breed is shorter, very storky, shorter snout, the head is wider,  has a thicker coat and tail and they are mellower/calmer.   The field breed is taller, longer in length and snout, the ears are a little smaller and shorter, coat is lighter and so is the tail, and the head is not as wide.  Field breed labs are much more energetic, very hyper and loves to work for you.
