Megan is moving

Comments Off

Megan called last night telling me she is moving to New York next month.  Her company transferred her to their Manhattan office.  I asked her is it a promotion or a lateral transfer, she said it’s just a lateral transfer.  She needed the change of lifestyle and a new place to explore.  She is seeking movers now but the company is providing mover NYC to help with the moving.  All paid for and safe her sanity on trying to pack her little apartment by herself.

Prawn noodles and sour mustard, DB is getting there..

Comments Off

I cooked prawn mee on Sunday, a day we were puppy sitting and the day SD had her babyshower.  It was a busy day, but I so want to try out the prawn noodle paste I got from MyTasteofAsia.  Didn’t take any pictures for this meal.  We were already late for dinner and starving.  I was very surprised DB liked  it so much.  I don’t know if he will eat it again if I cook this prawn mee.  It sure seems like it was no problemo to him coz he finished the whole bowl.  It was an extra big bowl, too.  Hahaha, actually I made him a bigger bowl, added more noodles for him.  The end result, nothing left in his bowl. I even cracked up the Crispy Prawn Chili, added some to my bowl.  Mhmm, it was so good.  Cat, you are so  right, it was good and I wanted another bowl.  Of course, DB didn’t add the extra teaspoon of spicy crispy prawn chili.  He was perspiring from his head just from the soup itself.  Gert and Nicole, yes, you guys are so right.  This crispy prawn chili is to die for.

Today I asked him what we should have for dinner.  He asked if I don’t mind making the sour mustard (haam choy).  Did that surprised me.  I bought the sour mustard on Saturday and the left over “char siew” he grilled a week ago, he said all ingredients settled, just needed the cook.  He loves this “haam choy” dish.  One thing about this dish is it is very appetising.  Both of us had two plates of rice and finished up the ‘haam choy” dish.  According to him, it’s damn good.  I have to thanks to my dad for cooking this dish when we were in Ipoh at my parents’ home.

So, I can say DB is getting better with my kind of Malaysian food.  He is open to different taste.  He will tell me if he doesn’t like it.  So, what’s next this weekend?  Curry mee, I think with tofu pok.  :)   Or the nasi lemak (coconut rice) sounds good so I can try the sambal bilis (anchovis)….

Darn Snow

Comments Off

Photobucket

It started with rain yesterday which turned to snow and more snow this morning.  Those wet kind of snow where it sticks to everything.  It made commute to work really shitty.  It took me 25 minutes to  get to work.  Freeways were ploughed but still the falling snow was not fun for morning commuters.  There were a few spun outs which served them right.  But the thing with these kind of snow fall, they are really pretty – fresh white snow on the trees and every thing it touches.

Photobucket

These pictures were taken by DB.  I got to work, I asked him for a favor.  I asked if he could take some pictures of the fresh snow for blogging material, he said no probs.  Yeah, he’s a sport! :)

Afternoon out with Nicole

Comments Off

Nicole and I decided to meet up for lunch last Saturday.  The first and the last time we met each other was last summer, I think?  I know it’s been a while and she wasn’t able to meet with Simmie and Leena two weekends ago for my b’day, I thought it would be nice if she could have an afternoon out.  I am just up for anything  during the weekend.  We agreed on Cheesecake Factory since I have not been to this place with its famous cheesecakes.

Cheesecake Factory @ Southdale Mall 03162008

The one we went to was out in Southdale Mall.  It has been 5 years since I last stepped foot at that mall.  There were so much changes.  So many new restaurants around the area.  If I remember right the last time I was there, it was still Daytons, not Marshall Fields or Macy’s!!  Yeah that long ago.  Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang’s never existed in the mall.  We didn’t turn up having our lunch there.  Nicole and I didn’t wanna wait 30  minutes to be seated.  That Cheesecake place was packed filled with heads.  We got there right at lunch time.

PF Chang's 03162008 @ Southdale Mall

We headed to PF Chang’s which is just right next door.  Not much of a wait but the food was good, but tried it once, I won’t go again that kinda of thing.   We shared a lettuce wrap chicken wrap thing, kung pao chicken, and Spore noodle hawker style kinda dish.

PF Chang's 03162008

After a taste of Chinese, I wanted to get some cheesecake home and headed to the Cheesecake Factory for fattening takeouts.

Next, the wonderful experience of driving to the Asian store, United Noodles.  I have been there several times but each time I have never driven there.  Simmie was the one driving and how she gets there was by different directions.  Got me all confused!  I just gotta say I’m totally useless when it comes to learning new places.

I called Simmie and left  her a message to give us directions how to get to United Noodles while Nicole and I were still in the car on the parking lot at Southdale.   By the time she called we were way passed the exits she wanted us to take.  Here I was talking on the  cellphone while driving 65 – 70 mph on the freeways (35W and 94), and yet when I see someone doing that I bitched at them.  The pot is calling the kettle black!!

We finally got there and many thanks to Simmie.  Don’t know what to do without that girl :)

By the time Nicole and I were done shopping it was almost 4:30.  We made our way back to Chanhassen and dropped her off.  It was a very nice afternoon.  I wish I can do that every week!

When I got home SD and BF were there chatting with DB.  They hung around till passed 6:30 p.m.  And we had to puppy sit Chase the next day, Sunday.

Can I buy more weekend time?

Comments Off

The weekend always flys by for me.  Maybe it’s just me.  These days I tend to sleep in during the weekend till7 or 7:30 am.  DB will be awake and up and about at 6.  He will take care of the boys and when it’s 7 am, he will come wake my butt up.  With him not finding a job yet, he is helping around with the house work, but yet I still find that I need more time during the weekends.  WTF??  I do putzed a lot in front of the cranky laptop and P.O.S. computer, alternating between them two POS’s especially when I’m having my morning coffee.  Doing what you wonder?  Log on to Facebook and make my next move on Scrabulous and at the same time sipping on my hot cuppa coffee.  And when the Rifleman is on, my attention diverts to the TV.  No wonder I’m so running out of time in the weekend.  I am a putzo.  Ok, I think I have beat up myself enough.

Trying out online casino

Comments Off

My boss and I quite close before she became my manager.  She told a few years ago that she is trying to lure his hubby away from the casinos.  They do make their annual trip to Las Vegas with their friends.  He would hit the slots right away as soon as they get checked in.  My boss said it is great if he wins some thing, but no, all the money he brought with him, he will loose them  to the casinos.  I did mention trying out online casino to her, however, she thinks he might not fancy the idea.

32vegas.com is just like going to a vegas casino.   The site is user-friendly.  It has all the important tabs a player needs.  Example: There is a Download tab where it requires you to download the SetupCasino.exe file to your hard-drive.  This is tab there if you missed the initial window that appears immediately you enter the website.  Secondly, I like the Getting Started tab, too.  It is almost the same as the Download tab, but it gives the would-be player a step by step instructions on the software download.  The entire website is very intuitive, easy to understand and the Help tab is there should you have questions.

There are a great variety of casino games on 32vegas.com site.  You have to check out the site to find out.  The array of games include card games, slot machies, poker games, and also video slots.  In addition, the first $20 that you put in for your deposit, you will get a bonus of $250.  How cool is that?  And if you put in more deposit, you will even get a better deal from 32vegas.com.  Now, if you want to have a pal to play some games with you, you can have them sign up, too.  As long as he/she has no prior deposit with 32vegas.com.

I Spy is the theme for today’s  theme.  I Spy Rabbit Turds.  Can you see them?  The boys love them…eat them like treats!  Gross!!!!!  As long as they don’t come lick me after eating them, but no, I get kisses from them no matter when or what.

The snow is melting

Disgusting melting snow

The disgusting melted snow in the backyard.  It is so muddy out there and at some parts of the yard with the melted snow, it’s almost ankle deep with water.  Yuck!!!!

melted snow on the backyard

Ugly thing….I want the snow to go real fast since it’s so gross and makes the boys dirty.  It is getting old cleaning them up each time they are out there!

Melting snow in the backyard

Melting snow is the time to pick up doggie piles.  DB was busy picking them piles up when I got home from work.  He even managed to drag the two Mr. Charbroil out.  Time for some queing and smoking of ribs!!!  Yummy!!

Coops and his stick

With the snow melting, a retriever gets busy….looking for his favorite thing to do.  Looking out for sticks to chew them up.

Photobucket

And finally, a clump of cummulus cloud all by itself in the clear blue sky waiting for the 45mph wind to blow it away.  A few more days of clear skies, 49F degrees temps, the snow will be down to nothing.  But….all these snow are going away for the next snow storm that the forecasters are predicting for next week.  DB kept saying that during the NCAA (college basketball championship) tournament, there is always a snow storm. Last year we had about 16 inches of snow and were gone within 2 days.  Will it happen this year?

Nadine’s new TV

Comments Off

Yep, Nadine finally bought a flat screen for their family room.  The Panasonic flat screen high definition has gorgeous pictures, so sharp, clear compare to our CRT TV.  Mike her hubby is now looking for HDMI switches to connect their flat screen to the satelite receiver. Nadine told me she will do the shopping and the hubby will take care of setting it up for her.   What a life she has.  I told her I will go over to her house one fine weekend to watch a stock car race on her new TV which she is game for it.

DB dogsitting day2

Comments Off

chase.jpg

This was how Chase was most of the day yesterday.  It must be the medication the vet gave him for his pain that was making him so out of it.

When he came in the house yesterday morning, he was more cautious of his movements.  I was already at work when he came, so all these updates were from DB.  I asked him how was Chase with the two boys, he said Coops was sniffing the little fella out and the little one is not as hyper as he was the other day.  DB said “Situation normal” when I talked to him, 4 hours after Chase arrived.

meboyz.jpg

That’s how my boys are when I get home from work every day – all over me as if I’m going to leave them, especially Coops who is on my left.   He is one jealous dog.  If I pet Ranger first, he will try to sneak his way to me and when I was petting Chase, Coops would try to step in front of me or like what he is doing in the picture.

Side income

Comments Off

There is one thing I do not like to but is jewelry.  I am not a person who likes jewelry very much.  I go for the basic type of jewelry that is a pair of ear rings and a ring.  But not my colleague, Jamie.  She is now into designer jewelry, more like selling them like how the Amway folks sells their products.  These jewelries are very pretty but I just cannot bring myself to buy them.  They are not cheap either, but Ms. E said they are very good quality jewelry for the price you pay.  I know for sure Jamie is making good side income from this side job.

My order arrived

Comments Off

I was reading Cat’s and Gertrude’s blogs and see how much they like the products they bought from MyTasteofAsia.  I, too, ordered some items and within a week, they arrived this afternoon.

MyTasteofAsia

Delimas Prawn Noodle paste; Rasaku Nasi Lemak Mix; Delimas Curry Laksa Paste; ChanHong Sambal Ikan Bilis; Delimas Crispy Prawn Chili; and Cheong Kim Chuan Sambal Rojak sauce

I told DB he will be having some kind of noodles this weekend.  Most probably prawn noodles!  I can’t wait to try out all of them.  DB looked at the ikan bilis and asked what it is.  Well, it’s anchovies, dear.  One thing he does not like is anchovies.  I must find a way to make the ikan billis not stinky so that he will eat them! :D

Kitchen updates

Comments Off

Nadine and I went window shopping last night for her kitchen.  Her hubby wants to update the kitchen appliances and in addition, replace the kitchen faucets and sinks if possible.  The current sink is made of porcelain which is what we have.  I can’t blame him for wanting to replace it.  Porcelain sinks stains very easily and it is a pain in the neck to remove those stains.  Nadine’s ideal kitchen is all appliances made out of stainless steel, so obviously same goes with all faucets and sinks.
