Me and hot weather

Comments Off

We brought out our outdoor furniture for the season few weeks ago.  Since then, the weather has been either rainy, too darn windy, or too hot for me to sit out. I am really spoiled by the cool and cold weather.  The furniture are more for show.  I think I only sat on the chairs once or twice and used the table for repotting the house plants.   I should have got different type of chairs for the table though.  The cushions need to be put away when the snow flys.  I wish I have gotten the ones that do not require cushions, less maintenance that way.  But then, will I sit out there when it is 80 F degrees out?

Updates

Comments Off

It’s been a while since I last updated this blog.  There is not enough time in the day to do much now.  I have been spending a lot of my time outside since the evenings are not as warm as in the afternoons.  Been doing the double whamy of walking these days.  I will walk Chase and/or Cooper than Ranger and/or Cooper next.  Ranger has been doing a very slow pace lately.  Cooper at times is not getting enough from the slow paced walks with Ranger.  Walks with Chase are much better.  We go and hardly any snooping at all and it’s usually a 40 – 50 minutes walk every day.

Weekends are the worse of the lot.  Saturday is just a waste of the rest of the evening as when I get home from Satay2Go, my legs need a rest so bad and to bed by 10 or earlier.   Sunday is cleaning day and then any time I have is to spend with the boys.

Speaking of the boys, Ranger’s allergies which makes him itch so bad is making him extremely miserable now.  The medication, Atopica we started him on worked well, but we cannot afford them for the long run.  Since he is a big dog, the required dosage for him is burning a big hole in our, or I should say my pocket.  Moreover, the side effect he had from taking Atopica was he almost went bald!  He had hair fall of him in clumps.  His hot spots have returned.  I have been bathing him every week with a special anti bacterial shampoo.  He will be itched free for the day until he gets out of the house to the yard.  I know he should not roll on the grass and not let him out on the grass.  But how can you not let your dog go outdoors and prevent him from rolling on the grass?  Just can’t coz, he is a dog.  Period.  DB took him to the vet again this morning for more meds for his allergies, itching and now yeast infection in his ears.  I have a gut feeling Ranger won’t be with us for long.  The life span of a Lab is about 12-14 years.  He is 9 now.

Then, we have Chasey boy.  Looks like he is gonna stay with us for a while.  I’m not sure if he is going back to his mommy and daddy.  His daddy had a chat with DB on Sunday discussing when they should bring the boy home.  Right now SD has to recover from her surgery of the birth of Ally plus getting the baby used to her new environment.  I think we will be adopting Chase soon!  Will have to see how it goes with SD and their situation.  Here are couple of pictures of Ally, yes, pictures of her with her eyes opened!

Can’t believe it, she is already a week plus old, time is flying by!  Ain’t she cute?? :)

Weather for gardening

Comments Off

It’s summer, not officially yet, but I am already not into the weather.  The temps have been so far warm in the shade and in the sun, it’s hot.  Honestly, it has been quite okay so far with temps in the 50′s F in the mornings and on some nights we get free air-conditioning.  With the warm/hot weather these days, the plants are popping up in my garden.  The perennials (hostas, dahlias, lilies, roses) came right back up.  I got rid of all the annuals last fall.

The rabbits were out in full force.  I went to Bachman’s a tad too late to get the rabbit scram granules.  Those buggers had already gotten to some of the lilies’ leaves.  Since I put the granules down around the plants, it has been good.  It kept those cotton tail rabbits out of the plants.  However, the boys are loving the smell of the granules.  They kept going to the garden to sniff the plants and not sure what else they did out there til I had to yell at them to “Get outta there!!!”

I had to go to Pahl’s Market for flower supports.  When i was at Pahls, I so wanted to get as many annuals as I want but the pocket is telling me not to.  Look at all the flowers in their green house, all ready to get rid of them.

The next thing I so want for my front yard or patio is a water fountain thing surround it with a bunch of plants.  I like the froggie water fountain which is $200.

Anyways, the flower supports are for the Dahlia plants since the boys have been laying on them and the plants are now lying flat on the ground instead of erect!  The dahlias are blooming good though, I cut the blooms and placed them in a vase.  What do you think?  Might bring this vase of flowers for SD tomorrow.

Costumes for the boys

Comments Off

I know, Halloween is many months away.  When we first brought Cooper home, I never thought of dressing him up at all for Halloween.  I did put a bandana on him and that was all I did.  Once in a while I will put a shirt on Cooper, but this guy definitely does not like anything on him.  I even used DB’s sweat shirt on him so it’s looser, he still did not like it.  What can I say when your dog is a very dominant dog.  He purely just likes pats and nothing else from me.

I do not dress up in costumes on Halloween anymore.   I dressed up twice, once as a biker girl and the last costume I had on as a skeleton.  It was kinda cool.  All these happened when our friend Kay was still alive.  Since she passed away, DB and I have not gone to one Halloween party.

However when Ranger came to live with us, he is a whole different ball game.  He does not mind me dressing him up.  I thought of getting him pet costumes during Halloween and take him for his walks with his costume on.  I wanted a Superman costume for him, like the picture below.  My idea was spoilt by DB.  He thinks it is a ridiculous idea, so I didn’t.  So, what I did, I put on DB’s shirt on Ranger and he definitely looked like E.T.

If I could I would get some pet costumes for the boys.  Now we have Chase with us, I might do it just for the heck of it!  Base on Chase’s personality which  is almost similar to Cooper, I do not think it is quite feasible but I never know til it is on him.

Photohunt: Emotion

Comments Off

PhotoHunters

This week’s is Emotion and here is a picture of one very overly emotional/melodramatic dog, Chase.  He will whines/barks up a storm when it’s meal/treat time; before we head out for his walks/car rides.  He even pretended he had a broken leg to get our sympathy.  Sorry Chasey, we didn’t buy that.  This picture I caught him eating the dirt from the little hole on the yard, turned around and gave me the puppy eyes.  Must have tasted good since he was licking his mouth.

See the gunk on my lips?

Fitness challenge at work

Comments Off

Our Spring fitness challenge at work is going quite strong.  Each week I am able to obtain at least 36 points.  With dog sitting Chase and the weather being a little cooler than normal, it gives me the opportunity to walk more often.  It beats any diet pills out there in the store.  Yeah, but the problem is I eat so  much after I get back from my walks.  I walk the slow and fast walkers separately.  Cooper and Chase go together and Ranger has to go either before or after them.  These three Labs are not liking the too warm weather plus the humidity is not helping them either.  That includes me, too.  I totally prefer the cooler temperatures.  It gets me moving more than the warm weather.

Spring/summer fishing

Comments Off

DB has been talking a lot about going fishing since the start of MN’s fisihing opener in May.  It has been a few years since he last went fishing.  His former coworker were chatting about getting a boat for his fishing outings.  Boats are not cheap but his thoughts of looking at inflatable boats is another option.  Getting a inflatable sportboat will work for him since he goes to Lake Mille Lacs and Leech for all his fishing.  This type of boat, too, needs at least a 40 horse power engine to run it.  Of course, if you there are more than 2 persons in the boat, it will need more horse power to get the boat running in full action.  But would I spend my money on one of these boats?  Good question!

Nice price hike

Comments Off

I took this picture on Saturday on my walk with Chase.

This afternoon at 2:50 p.m., it’s this ungodly price….
Photobucket

Let’s say goodbye to $3.09/gallon from now on.  I pumped 1/2 a tank of gas yesterday at $3.89 and it cost me $27+ which is usually the total I pay for a full tank.  Time to think of car pooling which mean no flex hours of 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.!!

How to burn my vacation hours?

Comments Off

This year which is my 7th year at my present company, I have 120 hours of vacation.  I have used up only 2 days (16 hours) and all of the personal holidays (3 days) given free by the company.  My coworker were talking about what to do with our vacation hours.  I told I might use some of my hours to help out SD if she needs any help, I’m more then happy to help out and use some of them hours.  For her, she is thinking of one of the Disney cruises her sister in-law had went on last year.   Ain’t that nice.  I wish I have the funds for a trip back to Malaysia end of this year, but no can do.  Air fare is still too expensive for me.

The wait is over

Comments Off

Yes, the wait is finally over.  SD had a baby girl last night at 10:49 p.m. (June 6, 2008).  They named her Allyson Mae.  Sweet name.  She weigh 9lbs 8oz and 21-3/4 inches long.  She is gonna be a one tall girl.  So my guess was quite close with the weight and height.  I guessed approximately the baby would be a nine pounder plus and about 20 inches long.  Both proud mom and dad are very tall.

Anyways, we still have Chase with us.  He is getting to be big now and a very melodramatic dog.  He can replace any best diet pill I can find in the drugstore coz this guy walks fast.  I definitely feel my butt, hips and leg muscles had a good workout after a walk with him.  No, I do not walk all three dogs at the same time.  That would be a disaster.  The two older boys are now not too keen with the hot and sticky weather.  They take slower pace walks which is good.  At least  they are not over heating with their thick coat on them.  I don’t have a heavy coat like them, I don’t like the heat and humidity either.  I can’t wait for the temps to drop a little tomorrow.

WIll put up a picture of DB’s grandkid up later.  Too lazy to do it now.  We went to the hosp to visit SD and BF this evening.  First time I carried a brand spanking new baby.  That kid is heavy.  She is already on size 1 diapers.  Oh yah, I thought that kid would be squirming around when I was holding her, but she didn’t.  She continued to sleep just like a baby.  SD said she is good so far, very content kid.  Nursing is going good, the kid latches on right away. SD will discharge from the hosp on Monday.  Told her if she needed help, holler.

No baby yet

Comments Off

SD is about a week plus over due.  She was supposed to be induced this morning but the hosp is too busy so they said!!  Must be the weather, the barometric pressure is dropping and causes super duper pregnant ladies into labor!  That’s what my coworker told me which I think is a load of crock!!!  SD called the hosp to make sure they have a room for her, but the hosp is too busy.  She is now on call, hang around and wait.  Dang, I would be so darn pissed!!  Can’t go for a walk outside coz it’s raining.  What a bummer!

So hopefuly, SD’s waterbag breaks and she will have to go to the ER now.  It would be nice if her waterbag breaks, go to the hosp ER, no room for her and then send her to a different hosp.  That was what happened to my friend, Corrine.  Corrice was suppose to go to the same hosp as SD, but since the hosp was fully booked, they sent her to a different hosp in Shakopee, a brand spanking new one.  They put her in a first class room.  Nice.

Skydiving pictures

Comments Off

I received the CD from the SinCity Skydiving, LV couple of weeks ago.  I uploaded them to Photobucket and forgot about it.  I have the DVD too, but I cannot figure how to upload it.  Yeah, I had to pay another $20 for the Cd and DVD since I lost/left them in the hotel room.  We spoke to the housekeeping manager, yet we were not able to find it.  So here are the slides, not the best shots.

A site to assess online casinos

Comments Off

My friend at work loves to gamble.  Yeah, she is very addicted to the casinos, any casinos will work for her.  I have been telling her to check out some online casinos instead of going to the casinos in Hinkley, Red Wing, Mille Lacs and Lord knows where else she goes.

There is an online casino bluebook at onlinecasinobluebook.net where she can definitely check out other online casinos she can pick from.  What is great about this website is user are able to assess the many online casinos out there.  Users are able to read the write ups of the list of casinos based on the current users experience with the online casino sites.

For example, one can use the online casino bluebook to see which online casinos have the most excellent status from customer service, payouts and even how much the said site offers for signup bonus.  The signup bonus is given out when the user register with the online casino as a welcome money!  In addition, the this bluebook site allows the user to view which online casino, with links to the site, is receiving players in the US. It also helps where one can also look down the list on any comments made on the individual casinos.  For instance, there is a column stating what you can find on those sites: Free downloads, the number of casino games, slots, deposits, bonus given monthly.
