He’s back!

Comments Off

Chasey boy is back at our house this morning.  He will be here for a few days.  BF went for a wrist surgery and will not be able to care for him.  So, DB brought Chasey bud home and, boy, was he a firecracker.  He was out running the yard probably a few rounds.  DB said when he got in the house, he was running around the house before DB even had the chance to take his collar off.  That poor fella must be deprived of his space, I guess.

SD sent a picture of him taken last night with him laying next to his rawhide.  Not sure why he was moping over at SD’s place.  Yes, they have a small townhome, but that should not be a problem for him.  He goes nuts when SD and BF come visit us.  So, why was he not drinking water, like a “sun seen”, ate a little, gave him his usual carrots and apples but he didn’t want them, spit it out and laid the apple next to him, not touching it, and his tail was not wagging – always down.  Was not interested in his usual rawhides.  What was his problem?

When I got home this afternoon, I could hear him bark by the door to the garage and then his usual whining.  As soon as I opened the door, bang, he was right there, whining, and trying to jump on me.  Strange, man.  He was behaving so weird at their place, as if he is depressed, but from a dog?  He is like a human, a kid.

Right now he is sleeping and snoring at the same time.  As usual, I took him for his walks and let him run free at the school field.  He was running like he just “fong kaam”, non stop, back and forth between me and wherever he was running to.  Good thing about him is after a certain distance, he will come right back to me.  Then into the trails we went.  Same thing, he was running up the trails and back to me and disappeared for a few seconds and reappeared, all huffing and puffing.

I am not sure when he is going back to SD’s and if he does, I hope he won’t mope anymore.  I felt so bad when DB told me he looked depressed.  We shall see how it goes with this little guy.

Winterizing the house

Comments Off

The temperature today is perfect to do any remaining yard work.  Tomorrow is even going to be better – forecasted to be in the lower 60′s.  Hubs has already set the day to get the outside stuff done – caulk the gaps between the dryer vent and boards, the outside of the windows and the holes the woodpecker(s) was pecking where there is now a big hole right above the front of the garage.  Dang peckers!  I see a lot of the neighbors are cleaning up their yards and gardens today.  Even my company is doing some sort of winterizing this afternoon.  The facilities folks were busy around the buildings replacing industrial knobs, depressurizing the sprinklers and cleaning up the flower beds.   The cold weather will be here very soon.

Can’t get this song out of my head

Comments Off

So What – Pink, this song has been in my head since last Friday and I’m still NaNaNaNaNaNaNaNaNa…….

While NaNaNa-ing away, I changed the template of my blog with a scruffy looking template.  Not sure if I really like it yet.  You say nice or not?

Snow forcasted for today and it snowed

Comments Off

The forcasters were right this time around.  Three different stations weather men said it will snow today, well, it did.  Of course none of them stuck to the ground.  The ground is still warm but the temperature is gonna drop tonight to the lower 30′s to the 20′s.  Yeh, nice cold weather for me and a hard frost coming up.  Pretty soon I will be bringing Ranger into the trails for his walks.   I know, I’m nuts to love the cold weather.  My boss is already planning for a vacation in December to South America, somewhere warm and toasty, she said.  She, her hubs and another 2 more couples bought one of those Brazil vacation packages.  She is so getting into my nerves!

Awwww, Chasey boy….

He is having separation anxiety.  He puked his dinner when he went back to SD’s home.

When he left our house, he was a fire cracker, an energizer battery.  Happy and whining a little coz he wanted to go for a ride.  He went into the car albiet a little skeptical.  We said goodbye to him and I did feel a little sad to see him go.  I wish I can read what dogs are thinking.  Anyways, SD texted DB saying Chase puked and not drinking his water.  Didn’t do anything at all.  We thought he would get around the next day.

The whole day today he didn’t do much, didn’t whine, still didn’t his water, not sure if he ate his breakfast, didn’t poop nor peed.  The poor thing is sad.  SD said he looks sad.  He laid on the floor not doing anything.  BF took him out for a long walk and came back still looking sad.

I think Chase misses DBs and me, or he misses being outside the yard whenever he wants, or he misses Cooper.  Will have to give him a few more days to get use to his new living environment.  Poor guy.

Trying out the sewing machine

Comments Off

I am trying to sew some pillow covers for the boys.  I know, I can but a new one, but the boys’ bed are just fine, except for the covers.  They are frayed and plenty of holes.  I think from all the weekly washing since 2004.  I tried to sew the covers last night and encountered some problems.  The bottom stitches are loose.  Been checking it the whole night, same thing, it was loose.  I’m really a loser when it comes to crafts.

The boys are now bed-less which is actually doing Ranger good.  We think he is allergic to cedar since the veterinary dermatologist tested him that he is allergic to all sorts of woods, leaves, grass, weeds and a lot more.  The pred we gave him turned him into a different dog, personality wise.  I can just imagine the athletes using legal steroids will that change their personalities, their moods, and appetites?

I am going over to Corrine tomorrow hopefully she will be able to fix the stitch tension for me.  I want to try sewing some lounge pants.  It looks easy to sew, so will see how the machine works by tomorrow.

I’m so tempted to go back for CNY next year.  Corrine and her family plus Tammy, the lady who went to Las Vegas with us, are going back to Malaysia for CNY.  When Corrine told me they finally bought their tickets, I want to go too.  It will be two years next November since I went home.  The tickets were cheap too, $1075 by NWA.  Should I go, or should I stay now?  My only problem is I have to throw the question of vacation time at my boss, the queen of advantage taker.  My boss will freak out when she hears my request for 13 days of vacation.  The days of travel will be 1/21 and returning 2/6/2009.  During this time period is where Ms E will be going on her maternity leave and is also the time to write one of our company’s bigger affirmative action plans.  My boss will never allow me to go.  So much for her to get the winter months booked up with all these affirmative plans and to leave the summer months lighter so she could enjoy her days at Wisconsin Dells.  Damn, I’m still so mad each time I think of that!!!  Anyways, I am still debating if I should go back to M’sia for CNY or not.

Job hunting

Comments Off

DB is still on a hunt for a job, really bad.  He needs one like now.  Darn unemployment rate is going up.  It does not help to hear that Chrysler-Daimler is possibly cutting jobs.  Leong, Corrine’s hubs, said his company laid off 1K employees last week.  I have not heard anything around my company yet, but I think there were some lay offs couple of months ago.

I asked DB if he send an email to the head hunter in  regards to the job out in NC. He said he did not.  It’s driving me nuts.  I so want to find out more about that job opportunity.  DB thinks moving cross country is not the right thing to do.  I even looked up the townhomes in Thomasville.  They are cheap out htere.  I mean compare to what we are paying here in MN, it is expensive in MN.  A three-bedroom, 2-bath townhome is only selling at $130K and it was built in 2002.  Holy cow!

DB applied for jobs months now.  I told him he might need to think about a change in career.  Since he is so into upgrading computers or laptops, he should consider doing that as a side job.  He has been busy working on the laptop I am currently using: memory upgrade, partitioning the hard drive and don’t know what else he did.  It is running a little fast but it can do for now.  I am hoping he can get a job, any job soon.

It’s quieter now

Comments Off

Yes, it is much quieter now.  He has gone back home, home means his owners’ home.  That’s right.  I am talking about Chase, the cute little fella, well, not that little, but he is only 10 months old you know.  DB told me SD and BF will be here this evening to take him back to their place for good.  I know DB is glad to have Chase back to his owners coz he said Chase was driving him nuts with his constant whining and his ever ending energy.

I am kinda glad that he is gone coz I will have an extra hour to myself.  That hour was to walk him separately from the other boys.  Actually I walk him with Cooper since both are fast walkers.  I guess since now I have to walk the two older ones together I might need some alli diet pills to loose  pounds.  Walking the two boys together will be slower since Ranger walks like he is 90 years old.  I hardly work up any sweat unless it out on the trails.  So, I think some diet pills might help me from now on.

Big brother

Comments Off

This is not the best picture.  The person sitting in the cube is Ms E.  That cube is my cube and I took this picture from the big boss’ office.  Yes, he is the big brother, staring out of his office right into my cube.  And the big boss even asked me to get privacy screens since there are quite a few wanderers to our area since our area is located next to the windows.

Photobucket

The privacy screens do not work at all.  They are suppose to block whatever is on our monitor which kinda look blackish.  As you can see, the big boss can just see what I have on my monitor.   I usually have Gmail and Yahoo Messenger on throughout the day, so it’s really sucks to have him see what I am doing the whole day.  Can’t goof off much at all.

Head hunter

Comments Off

DBs received an email from a head hunter out in New Jersey.  He said he found DBs resume on the internet.  Yeah, DBs has been applying for a ton of jobs out there and still waiting for a response.  The email from the headhunter is for a position in North Carolina, Thomasville to be precised.  When I read it the requirements, it sounded cool but then there are so many other things on the email that are not too enticing.  There will be no relo package but instead there will be a sign on bonus.  Well, that won’t really help much to move cross country.  The other thing we saw was the hours which is average 50 to 52 hours a week and it’s 12 hours a day.  The OT will work great especially with our current situation, but when there is extra cash there is a chance of getting the toys we want.

There will be so much to ponder on if we ever move to a different state.  The dogs are one of the criteria where rented townhomes allow dogs, not just small to medium size but large dogs.  The first thing that came to my mind about North Carolina is it is the home of NASCAR, Brian Vickers and Bobby Labonte live in Thomasville.  How sweet is that.  I can dream of it not, but back to reality, DBs is waiting for a reply from the headhunter. Will update when we get a reply.

Now that the weather is cooling off so much which I like, I have been out in the trails more.  It’s an every day thing for me to go to the trails with the boys, mainly Cooper and Chase.  I know I’m not suppose to walk the dogs without their leashes.  At least when I call them, they will run right back to me.  Chase gets his build up energy burned off if I let him run.  What a relieve it is to see him all chill when he comes home.  He will not bother us to go in and out the door or worse of all is his whining.  It’s so darn irritating and drives us nuts.

Anyway, what I was going to say was the daily walks on the trails is working my extra pounds I was aiming to get rid off.  It’s sure is nice to feel my pants are not tight and they need a belt.  Told DBs I will be going to the mall this weekend to get more work pants since I have packed away my capris.  Also I promised David I will look for some funny t-shirts that I told him I will get one for him.  Something I promised him for quite a while.

How cheap the city gets?

Comments Off

That’s how the city patched up the cracks on the street.  I took this picture of townhomes on one of my usual routes with the boys on Sunday.   The white strip of plastic thing will wear off sooner or later.  Underneath the white strip is some sort of black goo to patch up the cracks.  When the white strip of plastic wears off, the black goo-ey thing will then be dried but it is kinda slippery when the road is wet or if there’s snow on the road.  Why can’t they resurface the entire street with asphalt?  The city is that poor?  I don’t think so!

A day at the apple orchard

Comments Off

This weekend Simmie and I went on a trip to the Minnetonka Apple Orchard on Sunday.  What a beautiful to be out in picking apples.  It is my first time out in the apple orchard.  I know, really pathetic of me.  Been here for almost a dozen years and I have not gone to an apple orchard till yesterday.  anyways, I really had a good time.  Thanks again to Simmie for a wonderful time.

Of course I went there without checking my camera battery.  Of two cameras sitting on the dining table I grabbed the one with the lowest battery life.  I should have known better.  So, I used my cellphone camera and most of the pictures were taken on Simmie’s camera.

The fee to get in was $4 and if we want a bag for picking apples, it will be $25.  Spendy if you ask me.  So, we just picked and ate the apples right off the tree as many as we can.  I was most interested in Honeycrisp apples.  Minnesota home grown.  So crispy.

I think I ate about 5 honeycrisps.  For a while I thought I was gonna “lou sai” (diarhea).  But it was false alarm.  Probably just too much sun.

I really like the orchard very much.  The golden leaves of fall, just so pretty.  Then there is the corn maze where we camwhore again.  The corn maze was more for the kids I guess, something for them to run around to burn off the sugar from the apples!  Just kidding.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

And we saw turkeys in the corn maze.  So, of course, we have to take a picture of it.
Photobucket

Then there was camwhoring at the pumpkin patch, me and Simmie.  We have known each other for two years now, we have not taken a picture together.  This was the first.  Thanks for the pictures, Simmie.

Annual benefits enrollment

Comments Off

Here we go again.  Our company’s annual benefits enrollment first wave started today.  There are not much changes for this coming year benefits except that there is an increase in health care FSA (Flexible Spending Account) from 4K to 5K.  The next best is an increased on spouse or domestic partner life insurance coverage up to $150K and there is no need to give evidence of insurability.  That is so nice.  I told that to DBs he said “Are you expecting me to die soon?”  He knew I was asking around for a life insurance quote for quite some time but now that since my company is offering this great life insurance benefit, I don’t have to go scouting around now for a price that is affordable.  Then the next change is the amount I pay for medical coverage will depends on my pay.  I earn less, I pay less for the same coverage compared to the other employees who are earning more.  That’s definitely a nice change.
