Time to bring their beds out

Comments Off

Since the weather is getting cooler and eventually it will get colder, we need to get ready the boys’ winter covers for their beds.  The pet beds are fill with cedar chips and some synthetic foamy things, not sure what they are called but the boys sure like them in the winter.  I put a fleece cover over their beds to make it warmer.  I notice since the two older ones are getting older, 8 and 9 years old, they prefer to keep warmer during the cool and cold nights.  They will all curled up to keep warm.  I suppose it is just the same in humans.  The older you get, you are less cold tolerant.  I think it’s true.  Anyhoo, the boys are now liking the thick shaggy rug in the dining room but when it’s bed time, they will hang in our room, that’s when their beds come in handy.

Anyone wants to adopt me?

My name is Chase.  I am from the Labrador Retriever breed, not the English storky kind, but the American type with model runway legs.  Yeah, I have very long and slim legs, every dog will envy me.  I’m a male and my color is yellow. I think I just turned 10 months old.  I am a great companion for anyone.  I am now living with two adults and two other dogs.  (They are older than me so they are no fun to play with.)  I am house broken,  easily trained with or without treats, but of course if there are some treats around I will obliged to your commands.  I know I will be a great hunter or a family pet.  Why?  Because I love to please my owners.   By the way, I have to admit I have a weakness.  Please don’t take that as a consideration in your decision.

I.Am.A.Fetching.Freak.

I need an owner who has time to burn off my never ending energy!

Hint: Fowl hunting is around the corner……

A hold on trading

Comments Off

I’m sure every one in the world knows about the $700 billion bail out in the US.  Sweet deal, huh, the government is doing with our tax money.  All these financial instability is not helping DB’s online trading either.  The US market and Asia markets were all down and so was the Euro market.  The forex he is trading is on hold for now.  We are trying to get some trading in but the charts are not looking good at all.  He wanted to trade options but does not have the confident yet.

Dream I shall

Comments Off

Earlier last year, Ms E told me she wanted to sell her Mitsubishi and get a luxury SUV.  I asked her is she getting a Lincoln Navigator, she said No, she rather buy a Volvo, Mercedes or BMW.  She was also going to check out a few auto insurance quotes from the credit union since she is in the board of directors.  Yeah, the board of directors do get good benefits.  Lucky her.  Since she told me about her intentions, I did not talk to her about it till I told her DBs wanted to get a different truck to replace the Blazer.  I asked her whether she sold her Mitsu, she said yes.  Her mother in-law bought it from her.  Ms E is now a proud owner of a BMW, what series, I have no idea.  Rode on it once and it felt good.  So smooth.  One day, I will get one too….. I can dream, can’t I?

Longing for a vacation

Comments Off

The winter months are coming up.  I so wish for a vacation.  My boss is going on her annual vacation trip to Las Vegas next month.  Actually she goes to Vegas twice a year.  The hotel in las vegas she is staying is The Flamingo, again.  It seems like they have a deal with the hotel or some thing.  I swear, she once told me she only paid $55 per night at that hotel.  I can go visit Vegas again in a heart beat.

I’m have put up my schedule for my vacation days for the rest of this year.  Where am I going?  I’m going to sit at home or go roam around the trails.  Plenty of vacation time but can’t go anywhere.  So pathetic.  Oh well, hopefully next year will be a better year for us.

Deer in our backyard

Comments Off

Yes, a deer was in our backyard under the crabapple tree.  This was yesterday morning.  DB was up at 4:30 a.m. and I was still snoozing.  He said he pulled the curtains up on the patio door and Chase was barking and growling loud and sounded fierce, and the other two were standing by the door with their hackles standing straight up from the neck to the rum and the chorus of barking began.  DBs looked out the door, turned the outside lights on and there the deer was, staring at them.  I told him he should have taken a picture of it (camera sitting right by the dining table)! :)   *DBs gave me the “roll the eye balls” look.*

As soon as DBs let the boys out and he followed along, the deer leaped over our fence and away he went.  He said it could be a buck, not a doe.  But anyhow, the deer must be eating what’s left of the crabapples on the ground and tree.

I’m sure our neighbors were very happy with us with the boys barking at 4:30 in the crack of dawn.  I have see a deer up close and personal while out on my walks.  Honestly I’m not afraid but I’m more afraid the boys will charge for the deer and pull me along.  The many times I saw a deer with the boys with me, the command STOP worked good.  *Touch wood*  The boys really stop dead on their tracks but the growling continues and the hackles stays up till the deer disappears.

Nothing much

Comments Off

I’m not in the mood to blog these past week.  I’m glued to the TV every night since fall season premier started 2 weeks ago.  Amazing Race is on right now watching the teams kicking some female butt in Bolivia.  My favorite team is the mother and son team, Toni and Dallas.  I totally cannot stand the New Yorkers, Terence and Sarah coz Terence is so anal and darn sensitive about how Sarah befriends other male team members.  I can’t wait for them to be eliminated.

Another thing is I’m dead beat.  Every day I get home from work I’m tired but forced myself to walk the boys.  Going to bed an hour plus (10:30 p.m.) later makes a difference.  Needless to say my brains seems to be fried by the time I settle in for the evening.

So this morning after the walks with the boys I was totally wiped but had to bathe them.  An of course Cooper had to be a pain.  I still do not understand why he still hates his baths.  No probs with swimming.  What’s the deal?  Bathing him is like an expedition.  There always a lot of yelling from me, going round and round the shower stall.  DOG.

WhenI was done with them, showered myself and sat on my butt reading my mags and about to drift off.  Then I remember my fav movie, We Were Soldiers.  I have seen it three times and it still gets to me watching the movie.   It’s very moving.  I do not mind the bloody and gory scenes but the music, the theme and when the soldiers (Americans and Vietnamese) were killed, the music was enough to move me to tears.  I know I can still watch it again which is sort of I’m asking for it!

Work wise is getting busier since the big boss and my boss decided to move all the heavy duty writings to the winter months.  The writings are writing affirmative action plans for 2 very big market groups: 6800+ and 5600+ employees.  Moreover, I am writing a smaller affirmative action plan which consists of 1700 employees with 5 different locations in the US.  It’s good that I’m working on this smaller plan.  It’s challenging and it makes me “useful”.  If you want to see a sample of affirmative action plan,  check it out here.  It definitely makes the day at work fly by.  I can say I’m looking forward for work tomorrow.  My boss is working from home and the big boss is in NYC for an OFCCP audit. So it will just be Ms. E and I.  I.Love.It.

Gas price dropped

Comments Off

I can’t believe it when I saw the price of gas per gallon this afternoon.  At Kwik Trip it is $2.989 and at SuperAmerica by our home is $3.039.  That is cheap.  I had the tank filled on Sunday it was $3.139 and I said that was cheap coz the amount I paid did not go over $50.00 for a full tank.

Photobucket

The price at the pump 2 weeks ago was $3.59 and I was complaining about.  Had to put in half a tank coz it was too expensive.  If I were to pump the full tank, I would be paying $64.00 which will last me a week.

It’s so sad when we say the price of gas is cheap at $2.989 when it used to be $.98 or $1.02 per gallon 11 years ago.  I think it’s time to get the drilling going on in Alaska.

Junk basement

Comments Off

Our basement has become a place for us to store all the things we don’t need.  Initially when we moved in, it was just a place to temporary put this and that for the time being.  After a few weeks, months and now 2 years later, the basement is practically a junk basement.  We have files, file cabinets, broken entertainment center, speakers, used tape drives, records, long player, CDs, cables for everything you need, old towels, bicycles, luggages, and don’t know what else.  DB and I said we should make a point of cleaning the basement up but we have not done it.  I think it will stay that way till we move again!

Facial appt

Comments Off

I have made a facial appointment for this weekend after much coaxing from Corrine.  She said my face so need one, really bad.  Honestly, I have never given a thought of going for facials.  This coming facial would be my second I have in my adult life.  My first was, I think, I was 19.  The reason she has been pressing me to make that apointment was all the blackheads and all the “junk” on my face.  There are also acne from stress and most probably accidentally touching my face not knowing how dirty my hands were.  I’m kinda excited for this weekend and I can predict what the lady, Jenny, is going to say when she sees my brown spots and acne invaded face.

It’s rainy Sunday and I’m….

Comments Off

…..sooooooo lazy, watching the precious rain drenching the dried up yard.  (You can hear the “crunching” sound when you walk on the yard.)  I’m still in my jammies.  No walks this morning for me and the boys since it started raining around 5-ish.  Sleeping in didn’t really happen either.  Must be my body telling me I have enough already.

The boys are not bugging me at all this morning.  Cooper and Chase had a busy day following DB out in the  yard the whole afternoon till evening.  They are both wiped still, sleeping and snoring too.  Ranger as usual, if you don’t bother him, he will lay next to me and sleep.  Speaking of Cooper, remember his chewed up paws where we had to put the float like collar on him?  His paw are getting better but that fella licks the crap out of them in the night.  We took the collar off at night coz we felt bad for him.  He was sitting by the door and if not by the door, next to me the whole time even when i was already in bed.  Yeah, I spoil him a lot too.

So what I did was I wrapped them up, like this.

Photobucket

He was not happy at all, gave us the “killer” look.  The “killer” look is his eyes are just “kuat chee lei”.  When I call him to come, he will give that look, tail wagged a little but refuse to come and curled up telling me “I’m mad at you”.  Just like a kid, merajuk”.

Photobucket

The moment we wrapped up Cooper’s paws, Chase, the licker, licked them.  Followed Cooper wherever Cooper planted his body down.  I was surprised Cooper didn’t growl at him, or nipped him.  KIDS!!!!

Kid’s neighborhood

Comments Off

I walked the neighborhood every day.  I see almost every home has those wooden swing sets in their backyard.  When we moved in to this house, we actually had them removed it.   It was a good set but it was not of use for us.  We concluded the neighborhood we are in now are kids friendly.  Now that little Ally is here in our lives, she could make use of it.  The set comes with the slide, toddler and baby swings, a little hut at the top and some kind of climbling apparatus.  Oh well, we will have to make do for her when she gets older and more mobile especially we do not have any baby or kid stuff in the house.   We moved to this neighborhood not because it’s kids friendly but because it’s quiet, pretty and super convenient to both 35E and 35W freeways and shopping malls.

Free coffee from the boss

Comments Off

What a surprise today.  The boss came in this morning with four grande Starbucks coffee.  All black.  Ms E and I almost had a heart attack!  The boss never ever buys us anything.  What made him buy us all coffee for breakfast is beyond us.  I could have ask my boss since she is the closest to the boss.  I didn’t coz I don’t have a lot of respect for my boss anymore plus we don’t have much to talk about now since we moved to the corner the boss had “fought” for two years, we four are now a “close-knit” family.  *Please kill me!*  I totally hate where I am and so is Ms E.

We are both contemplating leaving our department at the same time and leave the boss and my boss high and dry.  Pretty bad of us, but we are sick of their excuses when we challenge about our increments, work load and how much my boss take advantage of her flex hours and work from home benefits.  It bugs me when my boss ask me what Ms E is doing or if she has complete this and this.  I wanted to tell her if she was not always on vacation and work from home so much, she would know what Ms was doing.  I told Ms E about it and told her how unhappy I am with my boss.

Can’t do much now but to wait it out till things are more stable in our house.  I need this job, so far there’s job security for me, it pays the bills and gives me benefits.  I have to hold my tougue every day and when the boss and my boss works from home or off on her flex day, I’m so happy, Ms E and I goofed off.  We really need to stop that but when the cat is not around the mouse is out partying.
