Reversible bag

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Here is the second reversible bag I sewn.  I completed it last night after the cut up pieces were sitting on the table for a week.

I saw this bag from Martha Stewart’s sit.  It looked really easy to make.  There is also a video on how to make the bag on the site too.  So I printed the instructions and the pattern.  Took the pattern to Kinko’s to blow it up to 200% and another 300%.  The above picture is from the 200% pattern.  I used regular cotton quilting fabric without any interfacing.  I regret not using any interfacing though.  The bag looks very “soft”

The below picture is from the 300% blown up pattern but the bag is not completed  yet.  The handles are not sewn.  They need to be top stitched.   I use canvas for the outter fabric.  As always, the bigger the piece is, it’s easier to sew.  The canvas material is stiffer, so I didn’t use any interfacing for this bag.

When I made the first one which I didn’t take a picture of coz it was not the exact pattern, and it was smaller than the second one I have sewn, it was a bitch to sew the “armholes”.  The “neckline” is ok.  The written instructions are not clear since I’m a visual sort of person.  I have to view the video a few times.  See how dungu I am with instructions.

Yep, these two bags were keeping me awake till midnight last night.  Actually I am making 2 of the red canvas bags since I bought a yard of the material.  Thank goodness for 40% discounts at Joann’s.

A hangover?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I woke up this morning at 5:10, woken up by Ranger dearest.  His body clock was telling him it’s time for his breakfast and I need to get up.  Yes, my dogs have this internal body clock when it’s time to eat their meals.

Ok, I woke up with a major headache.  DB already left for work.  I have the rest of this week off.  I thought the boys will give me some slack, you know, and let me sleep in a little. :D  After all I went to bed at midnight working on some reversible bags.  After I fed the boys, I wanted to go back to bed, but then I should just sit on the couch, watch a movie (The Other Boleyn Girl, by the way, it’s good.  I like it so much I watch twice in a row.) and hopefully the TV will watch me.  Nope, I didn’t fall asleep.  The movie was too good, but the headache and feeling of hangover were still there.

I felt like I had a 24-pack last night.  I have not touched alcohol since mid 2004.  What the hell gave me this dog-gone hangover crap that lasted till now?  At least the Ibuprofen is helping a little with the headache.  However the feeling of lightheaded is still there.  The tasteless taste buds and bottomless pit feeling are still in me.  I just had a dinner of pasta, chickie and cheese, hopefully to cut the awful ickiness.  Did the meal help?  Not at all.  Looks like I have to go to bed early tonight with hope it will cure my “hangover”.

Nadine and gossips

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Nadine came over this morning and as usual we chatted up a storm. I didn’t feel like chatting this morning but she brought up the subject of her brother inlaw’s new machine, a Ferrari. His BIL made it good in his marriage. His wife inherited the Ferrari from her father. Needless to say, she has no darn interest in any fast cars at all. This machine even though in tip top condition, it still needs some part replacements. Nadine is wondering if he will be able to pay for those cut throat Ferrari parts.

A new spot for the TV?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I’m wondering if DB is going to move the TV in our bedroom to a different spot. He is complaining that when I lay on the bed and if he is not asleep yet, he cannot see the entire screen of the TV. This is because I’m in the way with my pillow on me blocking his view. I told him to get a different tv stand for our TV but I don’t know when he is going to do it. I know it’s easy to make a change – I just need to remove that pillow on my chest when I go to bed.  I can’t help it, don’t think I will remove it because it is like a security blanket for me.

When out this afternoon to meet up with Nicole for a Thai luncheon.  It has been a long time since we last met.   Man, we chat a lot, but that’s good.  It is much easier to chat in person than online.  For some reason when I type a conversation out, there are a lot of typos and I think faster than I type.  So obviously there are a lot of missing words here and there.   When we were done eating, we headed out to Target to get my shopping done.  I bought a toy for Ally, a Playskool toy, Busy Chase ‘N Crawl Duckies, something for her to go after kinda toy.  I wanted to get the Playskool Busy Bsics Busy Ball Choo Choo toy but afraid the balls are too small.  She might put them in ther mouth and swallow them.  We didn’t go anywhere else as it was about to get dark.  I took her hope and I headed home myself.  Thanks for the company, Nicole! I had a great time.

The weather today is not so bad compared to yesterday.   Yesterday’s weather was so balmy – damn humid.  It was mistying the whole day and temps shot up to 39F degrees.  What a heat wave.  It melted a lot of the snow.  I don’t know if I like to see the snow disappearing or see the melted snow turning to ice overnight.

Our street was like a skating rink and actually all the residential streets were not plowed by the city.  Talk about cheapos.  Pay those high taxes for what???  I was out walking the boys this morning on the ice.  I was able to walk them and when I feel like I am going to fall, I have the three as an anchor.  Yeah, them three together weigh more than I do.  But I feel bad for them for slippling and sliding all over the place.   It’s funny how they use their nails to get a firm grip to hold themselves up.  Tomorrow morning definitely needs the stabilicers. I bought them a few years ago and they are life savers when walking on icy surfaces.  Didn’t get it out today coz I could not find them!  They were buried amongst all the other junk in the closet!
