< Done with the old house >

Past weekend DB and I worked on the old house, to clean it up for the realtor. I had mentioned we left a lot of junk in there. We had to get them all out including the stuff we left for donation. DB and BF moved the junk and donation stuff out of the house to Salvation Army and to pile the rented trailer with garbage to be hauled back to our new house.   We are cheap, we didn’t want to spend $230 to rent a dumpster from the trash company.  We are going to get rid of the garbage and recycle little at a time from our new place.  I went about cleaning the house, it beats any natural weight loss products out there – sweating my butt off. Vacuuming a house that has not been vacuumed for more than 2 months totally sucks.  We didn’t use our Dyson vacuum cleaner, instead we used the industrial wet/dry vac we had bought back when the basement was flooded.  That wet/dry vac was a little cumbersome to use but it sure sucks up the crap good.  It took me 3 hours to get the entire house, top and bottom floors, bathrooms and clearing up the refrigerator cleared up.

Here is a picture looking into the dining room/kitchen.  Can you see the “white” square carpet by the counter?  That’s where we put a big rug there for the dogs.  What a contrast of color = dirty carpets we have.

Another look of the living room where you can see the color difference in the carpeting.

Now for the last shot of the house that we didn’t care to take of….

That’s the backyard. The last it was mowed was in early April. We didn’t bother to get it mowed since we were already looking for a place to move out to.  The backyard is like a frigging prairie.  With all the rain we had and still do, it’s a tick haven out there.  The vegetation growing along the cement patio are strawberries.  I started growing them in a big container last year.  Somehow the seeds must have “germinated” into that area.

We finally handed the house keys and garage openers over to the bank’s realtor yesterday afternoon.  Honest to God, I still have some junk in the house but I hid them behind the old dryer and some stuff we couldn’t figure out where to throw, we left it in some bushes!  The heck with it, we are done and out of there.  We wish the realtor good luck….it’s a nice house albeit some fixing up and put in better windows, the house will sell since it’s in a very nice neighborhood.  So, farewell old house,  another new chapter of our lives starts.
