It has been raining every week – a few days in a week of rain. It gets really old especially our outdoor furniture is sitting out there waiting for us to utilize them. The weekend weather is not the best – light rain or down pours. Good thing for the rain is it cleans the furniture out for us! And the rain is also a damper when the boys have to go do their potty business. The two C’s are ok, we can let them out, they go pee and dump on command. But the older one, Ranger is the pain in the butt dog that has to walk for 10 minutes then he will pee and if lucky a dump. if not, have to walk him another 5 – 10 more minutes to get the dump going. In the rain, he will be soaked as if he got a bath. I only wish he can go on command like the other two. Yeah, sure, I’m just consoling myself here.
Since we moved to this new place a month ago, every evening’s routine with Chase is the same. He will wait for me to come back from my walk with the two older ones. Once I get home, he will start whining up a storm to get out….out to the driveway for his Frisbee. I have to say, all these fetching for 15 – 20 minutes every day does help keep him slim. He lost 15 pounds and is now a trim 87 pound-er. The vet gave a thumbs up on his new weight. The below picture was taken last week. Notice his nice waistline which I don’t even have one myself!
The thing about him fetching is he is a very slimy, drooly dog when he starts fetching. After a few throws of the frisbee, there will slime all over the frisbee which is super gross plus around his mouth. It looks frothy and he will be panting as if someone is in need of an inogen oxygen concentratorto help them breathe. Another 10 more minutes, he really is super gross with drool and slime even on his legs and head. This is because when i throw the slime/drool filled Frisbee, the gross stuff will fly too, which will land on him. Utterly disgusting.
The pic below you can see the frothy lips and the slime on the Frisbee (his beloved Frisbee) and some under his right eye. I have to carry couple paper towels with me when I throw his Frisbee. He has been a very drooly dog all along but now that he is bigger, man, it’s worse.
One year and an hour ago, I received a call informing me my father had passed away, a very sudden death. I still remember vividly the conversation, the tone of my voice and what I did that night.
One year ago I thought I would have had the chance to see my father again as planned but it didn’t happen. I still remember our conversations during the 1.5 weeks he was in the hospital. The last few days before his death, the conversations were more brief since he had a feeding tube in his throat.
It’s still very hard to write about it and I keep thinking of my father all the time. I am still holding on to the Father’s Day card I had bought for him last year, all ready to be mailed out except for the postage. It didn’t even get to leave my desk and is now tucked away together with my other stuff at work.
I know the day will come when I will finally see him and be together again. There are a lot of things that reminds me of him so much. But I keep telling myself not to hold on to those old stuff, move on and keep him in my memory. The memory of him and I together is when he, my mom, sis and family sent me off at KLIA December 8, 2007, the last time I saw him. I had never cried so much that night, and tears are still flowing right now.
Then I think of my mother. She says she is coping well now. I’m sure it’s extremely hard for her but she sure knows how to keep herself occupied which is good to know. There is feeling in me that kills me knowing she is alone in the house. Just maybe one day I can go back to Ipoh again. It will not be next year, however, I hope it would be the following year.
As of now, I will forever cherish those memories I have of my father. May his soul is resting in peace and our Lord Jesus Christ be with him always and forever. Amen.
I miss you very much, father, and love you always.
Past weekend DB and I worked on the old house, to clean it up for the realtor. I had mentioned we left a lot of junk in there. We had to get them all out including the stuff we left for donation. DB and BF moved the junk and donation stuff out of the house to Salvation Army and to pile the rented trailer with garbage to be hauled back to our new house. We are cheap, we didn’t want to spend $230 to rent a dumpster from the trash company. We are going to get rid of the garbage and recycle little at a time from our new place. I went about cleaning the house, it beats any natural weight loss products out there – sweating my butt off. Vacuuming a house that has not been vacuumed for more than 2 months totally sucks. We didn’t use our Dyson vacuum cleaner, instead we used the industrial wet/dry vac we had bought back when the basement was flooded. That wet/dry vac was a little cumbersome to use but it sure sucks up the crap good. It took me 3 hours to get the entire house, top and bottom floors, bathrooms and clearing up the refrigerator cleared up.
Here is a picture looking into the dining room/kitchen. Can you see the “white” square carpet by the counter? That’s where we put a big rug there for the dogs. What a contrast of color = dirty carpets we have.
Another look of the living room where you can see the color difference in the carpeting.
Now for the last shot of the house that we didn’t care to take of….
That’s the backyard. The last it was mowed was in early April. We didn’t bother to get it mowed since we were already looking for a place to move out to. The backyard is like a frigging prairie. With all the rain we had and still do, it’s a tick haven out there. The vegetation growing along the cement patio are strawberries. I started growing them in a big container last year. Somehow the seeds must have “germinated” into that area.
We finally handed the house keys and garage openers over to the bank’s realtor yesterday afternoon. Honest to God, I still have some junk in the house but I hid them behind the old dryer and some stuff we couldn’t figure out where to throw, we left it in some bushes! The heck with it, we are done and out of there. We wish the realtor good luck….it’s a nice house albeit some fixing up and put in better windows, the house will sell since it’s in a very nice neighborhood. So, farewell old house, another new chapter of our lives starts.
