Remember my colonascopy procdure back in March? Yeah, that many months ago. My medical insurance did not cover the entire procedure because it did not meet the deductible for the year. Why it didn’t cover the entire thing although my doctor asked for it during my annual? Coz of my age…..not 50 yet they said. This is when I wish I could change health insurance like NC health insurance for better coverage.
So I have been paying $100 a month, sometimes $200 ever since I received that big fat statement…..the total amount for the procedure was $1800+. On top of that procedure bill, I received another bill for hospital charges of $600 something. I wish I hadn’t gone for this procedure. I so regretted it.
After 2 months of paying what I could afford monthly, I started receiving daily phone calls from the hospital telling me I am owing them a lot of money (the balance). Plus monthly statements of what I owe them indicating I have pay up the full amount in X number of days before it goes to the collection agency. I didn’t care, I ignored their calls but continued to pay them the same amount, sometimes less every month.
The last statement I received from the hospital saying I owed them $350. I wrote them a check for $350 and had to dig into my other savings to cover for other bills. I thought once and for all, to heck with them and they can get off my case and that will be last I will ever see or hear of them. I will never go back to that clinic/hospital ever again though I like my doctor very much.
Don’t the hospital get it that I was not able to pay the entire $2.5K bill in one lump sum hence the small payments? At least I’m paying them instead of not receiving a single penny from me.
