Yep, Chase is here with us.  He is getting used to us now.  He chilling right now, laying by the dining table with the other boys.

We got him here til the baby is born, I think.   A pup is a pup, full of energy.  Dang, wish I have that kind of energy.   He is a sweet looking, pup, though, but I had to stop him from jumping on the couch or even tries to.   Hahaha, I’m giving him some obedience, that fella was jumping all over me on the couch yesterday.  Then this fella looks like he is going to be a dominant one, but I don’t know about that yet from what I observed but DB said that first.  Will see.  I know he is jealous when I pat the two other boys, Chase will be whining up a storm, barged in between the boys and scoot his way to be right in front of me.  It’s funny but I’m trying not to let him to do that so much.  The next funny thing is when it comes to feeding time, he whines a lot.  Oh.My.God.  I have never heard so much whining.  Again, it was funny.  Made us laugh.  I have to knee him a lot from not jumping on me.  But what seems to work is I’m making him work for his food and his demands.  He needs to sit before he gets his meals; sit or laydown before he gets his treats, and sit before he comes in the door which all seems to calm him down a little.  I didn’t want to do the obedience but I had to do it.  He almost knocked me down a few times, little guy like him has so much strength.   Did a lot of repetition on “down” today, hopefully he will get it by tomorrow.  Tomorrow is another day with this fella.  It’s hard to get angry with him with that puppy eyes.

Puppy training for the new pup

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Dropped by at Maxine and Alex’s house today after my weekly shopping and what a surprised I got from them.  They bought a puppy, a husky.  The little puppy is a male and oh my, he is quite big for a pup.  They named him Tanner because of the color of his fur, light chocolate and white  colored cute little thing.  I was wondering when Alex is going to get a husky since he is an avid sled-dog racer, and a plus is they are both moving out of the cities to the tundra.  To be more precise, International Falls which is way up north of Minnesota, right next to Lake Superior.

Maxine is moving back to her hometown to be closer to her parents and the next wonderful thing is both Maxine and Alex will be living in the farm, and came to find out he has already purchased three more huskies.  They are still with the breeder and will be getting them next week.  Maxine is not wild about the huskies but she said as long as the puppies have proper puppy training and provided the pups have sufficient exercise every day, she is okay with them.  From what  I know about the breed, huskies are working dogs. they are sled dogs and will work till you tell them to stop working.  They love to work for their owner but they are also very good family dogs.   Alex’s huskies will be outside dogs once they move to the farm.   Although they will be outside dogs, these boys still need to socialize with other puppies, and train them so they do not have separation anxiety from the owners.

Since I was there at their home, I played with Tanner.  He is only 8 weeks old and Alex is doing a good job in keeping the pup busy!  He said he will have his buddy in International Falls provide the sled dog training for the huskies.   But then of course those husky boys will need dog obedience training first because they will be in the house, too, whenever their master wants them to.   They will need to know the basic obedience like come when called, sit, down commands.

The other three pups are also males: Shadow, Max and Cole.  Alex and Maxine’s new pups will be leaving the cities next month and I hope I will be able to visit them at their new home.
